Book Nook is good; some tutors are subpar

I have tutored for Book Nook for almost three years. I keep a decent number of tutoring sessions although during the summer months it slows. Book Nook ensures that I get paid on time and in full. The company does a great job of making sure tutors have all necessary resources to conduct sessions. I like Book Nook but think many tutors are subpar with their own skills and should not tutor any person let alone tutor children. Book Nook needs to share positive feedback provided by schools to the tutors who do provide quality work, too. My tutoring is ending. BTW,
the first Trustpilot review by a Book Nook tutor has incorrect information. The fact: The State of California mandated that persons residing in California be dropped from all virtual tutoring work. This was not a Book Nook mandate.

California-Based Company Fires All Californian Teachers

Awful company. Today (5/17/2024) all tutors from California were terminated without warning. It is sickening for a company that is based in California and has contracts with schools throughout the state to be unwilling to employ local educators to cut their costs. This company has no respect for their employees, their students, or the schools they have contracts with. Although they continually recruit teachers, securing consistent work is sporadic at best. As for the quality of materials they provide for students, teachers are often given groups with misaligned reading levels and the lack of content on the platform forces them to supplement their sessions with outside content from YouTube or other sources because of a lack of engaging activities and texts in the app itself.
