I didnt go with any expectations and I had the most amazing time.
When I got to the retreat they asked for payment in cash and it was difficult sorting a bank transfer internationally so perhaps make it clear whether the place takes cash only :)

The yoga retreat that I selected Alaya Retreat Centre at Cal Pau Cruset was very warm and welcoming and very accommodating and bent over backwards to make my experience memorable. The food was delicious and the accommodations were clean and very spacious. The yoga classes were some of the best I have ever had after three years plus of daily practice.

Had I read the reviews before booking I may have reconsidered.
However, I did thoroughly read the terms and agreed to them before booking..... as I always would.
I noted under section 7.3 a refund would be given if cancelled and buyer conformed to the organisers cancellation process.
So, due to an injury It was looking like I MAY not be able to attend an upcoming retreat.
I asked the organiser Eat.Sleep.Yoga about my options. (booked via BookYogaRetreats)
She offered to sell my place, resulting in "once sold I would NOT be able to attend". She subsequently sold it.
She offered a transfer which I was ok with, However, the transfer options were not suitable. due to time or location.
So, knowing the consumer law act 2015, all contract terms have to be fair towards the consumer.
It took a court order threat to get the money back off Eat.Sleep.Yoga. It should never have got to that point. So I would not recommend them for the terrible customer service and days of grief and pain caused. This part is an honest review of all aspects of the interaction through them.
Regarding BookYogaRetreats their interaction was present mainly throughout, (but ESY did go off the platform for subsequent conversations,) But they would tell ESY one thing and not convey this to me and vice versa.
BookYogaRetreats preached to me their terms but seemed to fail to recognize they were in breach of their own terms.
"Tripaneer guarantees that you get a refund of what you have paid i) when you cancel your Reservation in conformity with the Organizer’s terms and conditions regarding cancellation, and ii) when your stay is in fact shorter than what was offered by the Organizer in the Experience Offer. "
Not only would BYR not acknowledge 1) this place had been cancelled by the organiser, 2) that goodwill is not enforceable by law in this context, 3) the terms stated if cancelled and I conformed I would receive a refund,,,, but it took again way too many emails and days to organise MY FULL REFUND.
I have received the refund in full as I know my rights. I did not breach them but as I write this I still have not been notified of it. Its only because I checked my bank.
The customer service is inconsistent, Peter is not talking to Paul. They do not understand THEIR OWN contracts. Be careful. But more importantly KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
Editing after response from Bookyogaretreats. I didn't cancel the place. I asked what my options were IF I couldn't attend. It's completely different from cancelling especially when the organiser States " if sold you cannot attend". and on that point that's why I was always entitled to a full refund. The goodwill offer was not viable. The terms state I was entitled to a refund as I conformed to the terms. I've said this now about 40 times on messages.

What an amazing yoga teacher training I had. Very simple process to book with deposit

Simple, easy and transparent. It also felt safe to go through this third party to ensure things went smoothly with the retreat. When there was a hiccup Tripaneer directly reached out with options and offer of support/help

We want to thank you for the pleasant stay we had in this paradisiac place. This could not be possible without the efforts of each of you. All without exception you have been there very caring for us. The owner and the manager who ensure that everything is impeccable, the chef who delights us with her good dishes, the butler who serves us with a smile that never leaves him, the doctor and the physiotherapist who do their better to relieve us of our physical ailments and the yoga coach for our mental ailments, not to mention the staff who take care of the interior and exterior maintenance of the property and the driver who welcomed us with warmth and a smile. Finally: a big hug to Mr. Brown whom we leave with great regret. Thank you for everything and know that we will be your best ambassadors, not only in our country, but with all our friends around the world. Mr. and Mrs. FILALI from Algeria

First of all: I LOVE ELYYYYY!!!
Eli Is the Greek lady taking care of the house and cooking AMAZING CAKE! I asked her, seriously, to come back to Milan with me at the end of the holiday because She Is just Amazing!!!
And everything else too.. I was a beginner in yoga and I foundt at Foodpath a practice that helped me find some really powerful tools to go back to myself. I enjoyed everything: the routine (which really help days after days to just let go of the mind and body-memorize and learn the different tools), the Mindfulness approach, the nice, sweet flows of Lara, the practice of the 7 Sun Salutations everyday (I am keeping going on also now!!!) and the Dynamic meditation with the dance.
The foodpath team was always available also when we wanted to do some different activities such as sailing boat trip and tour in Lefkada.
Just asking to Adonis or Lara or Chiara and they would provide everything! And the Place... The Village Is just beautiful and so authentic! I met so nice people and we all want to meet again coming back for sure the next Season.
Thank you all ❤️

I've done two retreats with this organization both of which were top-notch. It is a reputable organization with good retreats all over the world. Their customer service is good. The website sometimes has some glitches but the customer service response is always prompt.

Unique attention to the customer from the moment of engaging with the website until the last day of the trip. I was also blessed with the school and the instructors. And there are plans to make more trips and even organize them for others.

I have just returned from my first yoga retreat experience and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. The website made it easy to find exactly what I was looking for and I can't wait to book my next retreat.

Wow, where do I even begin? I've just wrapped up this yoga teacher training and, trust me, it's been a rollercoaster in the best possible way!
First off, hats off to Joleen and Steve. Talk about a power duo! Their combined experience from NZ and around the world really shines through in their teaching. They effortlessly blend age-old yoga wisdom with real, down-to-earth insights. Their humility in sharing their deep knowledge is genuinely refreshing.
The course was brilliantly thought out, highly professional, and exceptionally delivered. One standout feature? Being thrown into the deep end (in a good way!) and teaching what we'd learned just the day before. It was kinda like learning to swim by jumping into the water - super effective. I can't tell you how much this boosted my confidence.
Also, major props for keeping the group small. With only nine of us, it felt intimate and personal. It wasn't just about striking the perfect pose; it was about personal growth, deep connections, and some pretty epic chats. It's one thing to practice yoga, but to dive deep into its essence alongside a tight-knit group was truly special.
And amidst all the learning and practicing, there were these unexpected moments of self-discovery. Very much like a mini journey within the broader yoga journey – pretty meta, right?
Big love to Steve and Joleen for crafting such a memorable experience. And a shoutout to my fellow yoga teachers; you guys made this ride even more awesome. So grateful for this experience, and here's a big virtual hug to everyone who was a part of it. Namaste! 🤸♂️🧘♀️✨

BookYogaRetreats is a nightmare to deal with and are a scamming, money-hungry company with absolutely zero concern for their customers - all they care about is profit.
Once they have your money, you'll never get it back, even if something goes wrong. Whether you're a retreat host or a customer booking through the platform, all you are is money on their bottom line.
We've had numerous issues when using the platform and the appalling customer service.
When a customer booked a retreat with our company via BYR by mistake, BYR refused to refund them; another customer sent their balance directly to the platform, and BYR disappeared on them and denied receiving the money. This caused extreme stress for the client and looked bad for us as retreat hosts.
If you're looking to book a yoga retreat, NEVER book through this platform; they're money-grabbing and dishonest.
Please always go directly to the retreat hosts - you'll receive better service and won't be giving your money to a dishonest conglomerate.
Sadly, many hosts have no choice but to list with the platform because BYR dominates the SERPs and pays a lot of money for ads.
If you find a retreat, you want to go to on the platform, reach out directly to the hosts instead of booking it with BYR...it will be better for everyone involved, and you can be sure you deal with a small business owner who actually cares about your custom.

The bottom line and also the first line of this review is that you can't trust them at all. In my case bookyogaretreat.com didnt tell me that the retreat that i paid for was canceled..
I signed up for a yoga retreat through this site and gave them a down payment.
8 days before the retreat I send a message to the yoga teacher to ask why she did not contact me and she told me that she canceled the retreat with them two months ago!!! and that she did not receive a message from them or the money for my registration. Needless to say, I was heartbroken over the cancellation, all the new accommodation arrangements that i had to do, and the destruction of my vacation.
The attitude from the site was inconsiderate and greedy. Only after i sent the mail to the teacher they remembered to announce that the retreat was canceled. I had to ask my refund at least 3 times.. Every time someone else answered my emails, The thing they most regretted was that I chose not to use the advance payment for other courses in the future ... In short, not a company you can trust when something happens.Avoid.

The Wild Times yoga retreat in the Lake District was just a fabulous experience. The mix of yoga (from sweat breaking to relaxation), SUP, swimming in cold water, hot tub, sauna and walking was what the soul needs. Get away from it all and join the awesome instructor, Jenny, and have some fun, laughter and contemplation.
