Boots Recova - a very poor reflection on Boots the chemist
VERY POOR: a) Expensive - there are plenty of other labs out there doing the same thing for less and, I suspect, considerably more efficiently, b) Incompetent - despite offering a 48 hour tracked service, they sat on a recent order I placed with them for a PCR test for over 24 hours, before passing it to Royal Mail for postage, who then took another 7 days to actually deliver it to me - when it arrived , it turned out to be a Rapid Antigen Test that they had sent... c) Dishonest - when I picked them up on this and demanded a refund, they refused, despite the fact that 1. their time-sensitive delivery had arrived way too late to be of any use to me and 2. when it finally did arrive it was, in fact, the wrong item that they had sent - how is what they do any different from any other distance selling business that is legally bound to offer returns? and d) shifty - they are very difficult to pin down, if you have a complaint - I had to hold for more than an hour on the phone before finally getting my sub-standard response from them - Boots themselves are no better - they have completely disowned any responsibility for Boots Recova's activities, despite giving their name to this outfit, so you can't follow up, complain or get any kind of redress by going to a branch of Boots - very, very poor indeed.
Shocking service, DO NOT USE!!!!
Shocking service, DO NOT USE.
Submitted a day 2 PCR test 5 days ago. No update, no information, no number to call.
£68 for nothing and no help. Things go wrong, it happens, but when there is no number and no assistance available it is not acceptable.
Seems like it will just have to be 10 days of isolation and a waste of £68!
What a stressful palaver
What a stressful palaver! First you have to create an account [complete with one of those goddam awful passwords including a special character]. Then you can book an appointment [allegedly]. Trouble is they only release these 4 weeks ahead and then you find that half the expected appointments just don't exist - in my case my big local branch had none left and neither did any of the branches for miles around, although presumably computer had only released them at midnight and this was 09.00. Had to make a round trip of about 50 miles to the nearest place available. Took 3 minutes for the actual test. Got the result in 36 hrs except took me an hr to retrieve it as you need the wretched stupid password [and a month on I had forgotten it so had the nause of resetting the damn thing]. Fortunately negative but totally stressed out by the whole set-up....
Steer we’ll clear
Steer we’ll clear, waiting 5 days now for results!!
Boots should be held accountable under the consumer rights act.
LTF Return to UK Tests
The experience of obtaining LFT tests makes us wish we had never booked to go on holiday. The website is so stressful! I could not record my sister's details; could not go back to amend; stuck in a loop. I have two tests ordered, in my name, and paid for but will they arrive in time for the flight? Is one allocated to sister? No way to ask about delivery. An awful impersonal experience.
Excellent service
I had purchased the 2 day home kit prior to reading the reviews but need not have worried as the service was excellent from start to finish. Our kits arrived promptly and we took them with us so we could test on our arrival back into Manchester Airport. We posted the kits at 10am on Friday and all 3 of us received our results at 6.18pm the following day. Very clear instructions and a big thumbs up from me. Would happily recommend and would use again if required. Well done Boots.
Online portal doesn’t work
Online portal doesn’t work. Doesn’t register home test kits.
Bad Product and Service for Day 2 Lateral Flow Home Test Kit
I took the day 2 lateral flow home test kit from Boots. The instructions, though clear do not provide enough detail with regard to the registration process. When it comes time to scan the barcode for the lateral flow test cassette/device that contains the result, the Boots service does not recognise the barcode. This is the second time I've used Boots and also remember having difficulty the first time around, but eventually got it to work. This time, none of the previous strategies worked.
Their customer service is really difficult to get a hold of. For such a crucial service, Boots does a very poor job and has a really hard to reach customer service in cases like this.
48hrs has passed and no test result for…
48hrs has passed and no test result for my partner. The worst part is the appalling customer service on the phone. Not trained or able to intervene / help = waste of money and missing our flight.
The ongoing claims against them for loss of income will put them out of business.
PCR test didn’t arrive on time and was impossible to track.
I paid £68 for a pcr test that didn’t arrive in time to fly.
This meant I had to pay silly money for a Fit to Fly test near the airport which was the only place available at such short notice as well as a taxi there and back.
The stress, worry and sleepless night hoping that it would arrive in time was horrible. Their excuse would be that they promise results within 24-48 of receipt to the lab, but the tracking number they give is untraceable, non existent, making it impossible to know when the sample arrived and giving Boots a way to cover their arses for late results.
I thought Boots were supposed to be trustworthy and care about our ‘wellbeing”, well my dealings with them have probably knocked a few years off my life!
I am writing to record the…
I am writing to record the unsatisfactory service I have received from Boots Pharmacy regarding the PCR test they placed with Recova - 19. Despite having taken the money immediately they were unhelpful when I told them that I had not heard from the company since the order was placed. I asked for the code needed to track the progress of the test. They said they could not provide this information. I will pursue a claim against Boots for non performance of the contract and loss of income.
Recova scam
Well done boots recova this seems nothing more than a licence to print money - appealing - not a service at all.
absolutley shocking avoid avoid avoid
absolutley shocking ordered 2 day 2 tests for coming back in to the country. mine arived a day late my partners still has not arived over a week after we flew back in . so were now well over due for reporting his results and worried of what consequences will occur from that. at £70 a test this is aufull service nocontact from boots recova and no way of getting through to them
This is a scam
This is a scam
Bough the Day 2 Lateral Flow test from Boots, returned from holiday, took the tests only to be told that bar codes on the test are invalid!!!!!
So we've paid for and taken the tests but can't submit!
Does anyone at boots pick on the phone, NO!
Does anyone respond to e-mails, No!!
Rip off, Rip off, Rip off
Boots you are scamming customers!!
And even the discount code doesn't work.
I booked a day-2 lateral flow test and that arrived on-time on Monday, but the rules had changed. I spent 50 minutes on the phone to Boots to discuss. I was given a discount code to use when booking the PCR day 2 test as a way of getting my money back for the now 'not accepted' test, and this was followed up with an email giving me the same discount code. All good so far. Today, I went on to the Recova-19 site to book an at home PCR, only to find the discount code I was given is being rejected. I have now read all the horrendous reviews about the things going wrong with the Boots testing service. Boots should be ashamed of the disgraceful service they are providing for travellers who are experiencing all manner of stress without having to worry about their tests arriving, tests showing as inconclusive, having to pay again, etc. etc. Boots should be accepting some responsibility and actually replying to the se bad reviews, and doing something about it. I am going to forget about booking a day 2 test with Boots as it isn't worth the risk. I can book with a far more reliable organisation instead.
BOOTS RECOVA sending WRONG tests
UK Government Guidelines recently changed for inbound travellers into the UK. BOOTS RECOVA have managed to send me the WRONG test. Got a lateral flow test for GBP68,- instead of the DAY 2 PCR TEST I ordered. This must have happened to others and should be reported to the Department of Health as this creates and almighty issue as the tests are erronious and cannot be registered. It also means waiting for another test to arrive and then for the result. Now looking at a week of quarantine for nothing. "Buyer" beware!
No service at all.
Well sorry to say that I also have had a poor experience.
We have used the Boots PCR service instore in July - and several times the home PCR (as we go to France regularly) - so we bought the lateral flows last time we went to france (about 8 weeks ago) and again last week. We had struggled with the barcodes (but succeeded previously) However this time - I am on day 6 post return (just before the change to PCR) - and only my husband's lateral flow arrived on day2. Mine has still not arrived - Royal Mail tracked said it had - so 45 mins to speak to them (Talk to Boots)- and after a previous attempt at phoning Boots customer service I emailed them. I have not had a reply. I got a text saying a home test was being delivered today - and Royal Mail now says it has been - but no sign of it. Customer service of course shut til Monday.
I have done a NHS lat flow - and a PCR as part of a study so I know I am negative.
No service at all.
Appalling Service
Having spent several hours trying to upload the results of our day 2 PCR test have given up before chucking the PC out of the window. Unable to find a bar code. Instructions useless what a waste of £42.00 will not use Boots again for this service.
We do as we we are told and are not able to conform through no fault of our own.
I'm giving a generous 2 so far as I…
I'm giving a generous 2 so far as I want to give benefit of the doubt, but alas I fear 2 maybe a little generous. I had booked a Day 2 antigen test on Saturday. As soon as I heard that the rules had changed, I contacted customer care on the Sunday, heard nothing by Monday, so I booked the PCR test on the Monday still with Boots. There was no reply and no email sent out by Boots about the rule change.
I flew back on Wednesday and had a message that my test would arrive today (Thursday). I assumed it would be the PCR test ordered on Monday. I thought I'd see if I could get a refund on the antigen test, once I done my PCR test. However, the package that arrived was the antigen test, which they knew was already useless when they posted it out to me on Monday!
I've just spent half an hour on the phone to customer services. The guy told me that the PCR test should arrive today. But, my post has already been and there was no message about a second parcel from Boots being delivered. He says if my parcel hasn't arrived by 5pm, to call back (ages on the phone trying to get through again) and they'll have to issue me a new one, which will take another 48 hours. He seemed unsure if I'd still be able to use the first purchased PCR test if it arrived tomorrow. He did say I might be able to get a back dated discount on my PCR test, for the amount of the antigen test, if I called customer service after I had done the PCR test (when I get it). I chose Boots as it had always been a company I had trusted. At the moment things don't look that promising. I have spent a total of about £89 and still can't do my day 2 test. If the test comes today and I get something back on the defunct test, I'd consider changing my rating to 3 (no higher, as dealing with customer service is so awful). Though, I have a sense my journey of disappointment and frustration may not be over and 2 will be too high. I do understand that they were also taken by surprise by the change in the rules. However, this service needs to be way more customer supportive. Boots, I'm sadly disappointed
Spectacularly RUBBISH!!
I've used a few covid test purchasing and reporting services and this beat them all for incomprehensible c**p when it comes to reporting the results. Maybe we got caught between the rule change from lateral flow to pcr last weekend but the fact remains .... I can't even be bothered to go into detail - it's a waste of my time. I just wish they would read the reviews on here.
