Chair welds gone on seat and now rear upright part. Normal 30 year old man 5 foot 11 13 stone.
Normal use for office work. Chair is absolutely garbage. Secret lab is what I should have purchased!!
I've had the chair 2 years 4 months, as with many others I thought paying that amount I would get a decent quality product. How wrong was I!!!
The chair arrived broken, the chair has broken 5 times and had to have new parts sent each time. It's now 4 months over the warranty period and it's broken again. They are refusing to replace the broken back rest as it's out of warranty by 4 months even though its been replaced twice in 2 years.
My advice is don't buy this piece of crap, spend a little bit more and get a secret lab chair, a much better quality product!!!!
Horrendous quality and even worse customer service.
Bought a chair for £300 - thinking buy once buy right. Oh how wrong I was. The tilt mechanism not only rocks and clunks every time you even shuffle in the chair, but it also rocks and flexes about an inch when it’s locked out and shouldn’t move making you sea sick. To compound matters their customer service is utterly shocking, Jeff seems to think it’s acceptable to break UK distance selling regulations and refuse returns for faulty goods, won’t pay for return postage and wants to charge restocking fees and fees for putting the chair together. They also won’t tell you how to dismantle the chair to return it either! His excuse for the rocking was “wobble and flex is completely normal, and over time due to friction the gas rod might eventually stop the rocking and noises, there is no fault with your chair” - so they even KNOW they have an inherent fault and won’t fix it!!!!
Avoid - don’t waste your mo way, they look good in pictures but are aweful to own and use!!!!!!!!
I got the Elite chair a month ago, and I am very happy with it! Paid 280 which is great price and the quality is honestly top notch, comparing to two secret labs chairs which house mates have (2020 models which both have skew backrests), so I am happy I decided to go with boulies over secret labs, they also didn't aggressively chase me for a review with incentives so this is actually genuine.
Its super simple to assemble, one of my arm rests was slightly warped from storage when it arrived and they sent me a new one within 3 days. So no issues there, although you can tell support is not locally based they do honour all their promises, just be sure on your decision on style chair etc because its not free returns if you just don't fancy it, they will only send you free replacement parts if any defective parts or you can return the whole chair at your cost, which I think is still fair.
The only thing I will say is I went for a black racing style chair because it goes well with my set up and it is super comfortable for home, but my next chair will probably be an ergonomic one, in terms of longevity and all round comfort, I personally feel ergonomic is slightly superior to gaming chairs, I see boulies are also making some good economic chairs so might give them a go too! My Herman Miller Aeron at work sets the gold standard but not many people have £1200 to throw on a chair.
Parents be warned !!
Ordered chair as a surprise gift for my son , however I was very saddened as the box is covered with a gaming chair all over it . Surprised spoiled 1 week before Christmas as he was home when delivered and unable to hide the massive chair on the box
Customer service were unapologetic to the point we are considering returning the item as the surprise is spoiled
Where do I start? Boulies advertise their chairs as a premium product with quality being an important factor of the brand.
After much research I decided to purchase an Elite chair costing £300.
After assembly it was clear there was an issue with the backrest alignment, as well as another small issue with the backrest material.
I contacted support and they told me not to worry but if I wanted they would send a replacement backrest. I asked them to do so and they sent me a replacement.
The replacement was an improvement on the original but is still not to my satisfaction.
There are 2 screw holes on each side of the backrest to attach the backrest to the base brackets. On both backrests I received the holes on the left side were 6cm in from the back. On the original backrest the right hand side holes were 5cm in from the back. The replacement backrest has the right hand holes 5.5cm from the back.
So, considering these are out of alignment its no surprise that the backrest does not sit straight.
Having queried again with support I am told that these screw holes were fitted by hand and its possible, and acceptable for them to be out of alignment!
The base cushion of the chair is also out of alignment. The material is twisted on the base cushion.
Again queried with support, and told that is normal. The material was attached to the base by hand, so its again acceptable for this to be poorly fitted.
To date all replies form support have been from Jeff. Is support only 1 person? In his final email to me he ended by saying... Please do not worry. The situation is normal. Any other issues, please contact us.
From that response it seems they are not interested in the issues of poor workmanship.
I have considered returning the chair, however they have informed me that I will have to pay for the return carriage - which given the weight would be quite expensive. They will only refund the carriage charges after the chair has been inspected for damage. As you need tools to remove the gas cylinder and the casters, its quite possible these could be damaged when being removed. If so, then no refund of carriage charges....
These are the sort of issues I might expect with a £100 chair, not a premium chair costing £300.
Terrible chair, I have had nothing but issues with it. when the chair was under warranty Boulies did send out replacement parts after some hassle, but the parts come from china and take ages to receive them. so far my chair has had one arm replaced due to a weld breaking, I am on my third Base mechanism because they kept breaking or becoming loose so the chair would just fall into the recline position. I have also replaced the lift piston myself as Boulies for some reason wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount of money for that.
Finally which is the nail in the coffin.. The base frame has snapped, the welding on the metal is incredibly bad but also the tubing they use is wafer thin, its snapped in two places I am now unable to lean back on the chair at all, as it will just collapse backwards.
Boulies will no longer answer my emails and they do not respond on the chat on there website.
I now give up and the chair is going to be land fill.
Out of the box the tilt mechanism was grinding. Boulies sent me a replacement, which not only had stuff rattling around inside, but the arm was bent so only 3 screws lined up. It also grinded.
They offered to send me another chair and I could just dispose of this one, but I just wanted a refund. They ignored this request for two or three emails, then finally offered me a 50% refund and I had to send them the chair back.
I told them I would accept no less then 75% refund or I was going to do a chargeback with my credit card company, they immediately accepted.
I left a negative review on their website, it was removed. I've left several reviews on Trustpilot, but they keep getting removed, most likely because Boulies keeps mass reporting them.
Most of these positive reviews are also probably fake bots. This company is a Chinese drop shipper. The product is complete garbage. They have fake reviews on their website, and actively try to remove any negative reviews anywhere else.
If you do purchase, use your credit card, so you can charge it back if the product they send you is garbage.
Out of the box the tilt mechanism was grinding. Contacted customer support. They wanted me to dump WD40 in to it, but eventually agreed to send me a replacement tilt mechanism.
They didn't send any tool to remove the cylinder from the old tilt mechanism. Before I went to buy a pipe wrench to try that, I went to put the new tilt mechanism on the chair. The new tilt mechanism rattles like a loose screw is inside and only 3 of the holes lined up. It arrived bent, so the 4th hole doesn't line up.
Customer service suggested I hit it with a mallet. I've requested a refund several times, and they just keep ignoring the request and offering to send me another chair and tell me I can dispose of this one. I keep telling them if a chair is defective out of the box, and the replacement is also defective, I'm done.
Save your money.
I left a negative review on their website, and a day later it was removed. Think it's quite clear this company is a scam, and chances are most of these reviews are fake as well.
My hobby is making models and I tried a cheap chair but after a while it was uncomfortable .my son in law bought a ninja chair and I was so impressed i got one as well.absolutely brilliant it is so well made and comfortable and their support service is first class very highly recommended
I spent quite a while looking at various chairs from different brands but decided to purchase a Boulies Elite chair. One of the main things that brought my attention to this chair was how good it looked in a fabric covering. The quality of the chair is superb and it’s also incredibly comfortable. Gone are the days of having a sore back as the chair comes with two comfortable cushions which can be added and removed easily if required. Putting the chair together was made easy by the simple instructions provided. The customer services team were incredible and super helpful with their rapid replies. I would highly recommend Boulies to anyone looking for a comfortable and stylish chair.
I ordered a Master Chair during the Boxing Day sales with a nice £40 discount. The chair is fabulous. The quality, the support, and the comfort this chair gives you is unbelievable, you know why they say buy cheap buy twice. I now have less back pain and more comfort while working/gaming at the pc - 100% recommend. I used the dpd shipping option and it arrived the day after it shipped - overall a fantastic product and service from Boulies!!
Bought a Boulies Master chair in Jan 2020. Did a lot of research and decided that it seemed great value for money (still expensive at £260), two year warranty, was suitable for my size (6'4" and 100kg), so I went with Boulies instead of Secret Labs. The chair has been good, supportive, comfortable although it creaks A LOT and has done since about the second month. However now the seat material has also started to tear. Because it has little perforations in it, there are splits now forming between the perforations as they're a point of weakness. It's only going to get worse and then completely tear and will need replacing. It hasn't had unusual use. Just regular office use, Monday to Friday. Granted it's coming up to two years old, but you'd expect a chair of quality to last much longer than that. I did raise the issue with Boulies. They said they wouldn't replace it or fix it but offered a £30 compensation. Doesn't really fix the problem, and it is disappointing. I guess it's important to set expectations. My expectations were of a quality like I'd expect with Secret Labs, in reality for around 2/3rds the price, you're getting about 2/3rds the quality. So if you don't wanna drop a bomb on the top end of this segment, Boulies are very good value and is a very comfy supportive chair, just don't expect top shelf and for it to last a long time. Set your expectations at the price point they're at.

Ninja pro chair
I bought this for my son as I own a secret labs chair and he really liked it but wasn’t willing to pay near 500 for his chair at his age, came across boulies online at first glance it looks similar to the secret lab chairs and looks like good quality from the pictures and sounded it from the description so I bought him one.
Delivery was fairly swift after opening the box I was massively disappointed with what was inside its a very cheap made ripoff/clone of secret labs other reviews mention the chairs being dirty inside the wrapping well mine had what I can only describe as what looked like specs of excrement on the underside of the chair. I cleaned it up and laid out all the parts to build and started assembling it you can see on the underside is fairly cheaply made. When assembling the back rest of the chair the two metal side arms was far to tight for it to sit inside could see it almost tearing the fabric as it was forced back into position to be able to bolt it on. The stitches on the elastic band to hold the headrest pillow broke upon placing it on leaving me needing to superglue it together.
I got to be honest this is not a great chair the foam in the seat is ok but you can tell it’s cheap and it won’t be long until it starts to flatten.
I advise saving your money up and buying a proper chair from secret labs or noble chairs they are worth every penny in comparison to this one.
Not without its faults , but still will give 5 star rating.
Delivery was very quick and chair very well packed.
After assembly noticed the zipper in the back was not holding together. Contacted support and got issue sorted in a day. Support very friendly and helpful and responds quick.
Comfort wise cant find a single fault even after sitting 5 hours straight.
Great Chair for people who don't want to spend fortune on chairs
I purchased a master chair direct through the Boulies website. The chair arrived in good time. However the box it came in showed signs of poor handling, crushing and holes in several places. Upon unpacking the contents and beginning to assemble the chair I discovered the tilt mechanism looked bent on one side. I knew this wasn't right because the other side looked perfectly flush. Obviously I reported this along with photos to Boulies support team - I stated that the box was badly damaged and I was concerned that possibly other parts of the chair might also be damaged and for peace of mind I would like a replacement in a non damaged box. Since my initial request there have been several emails back and forth with boulies with many many photos. The response from the support team as of this morning is refusal to accept there is any issue with the mechanism. They don't accept my displeasure with how it looks instead focusing on the line that it will still function. I have demonstrated to them that the picture on their site doesn't reflect the chair I have received and I have been told by boulies that their factory says its fine! I feel very unsatisfied with my experience with this company. I have made it very clear that I am unhappy with my online purchase from Boulies and as of now they have refused to provide me with a replacement or refund despite me directly asking them for either of these options. Like I say if you are not satisfied with your purchase from Boulies don't be surprised if they tell you you're wrong! ☹
Great chair, very comfortable. But i've only had it a week and it already makes squeaking sounds whenever I move at all. It can be a bit frustrating when you're on zoom calls!!
Bought the boulies elite chair last week, said it was in stock on the 18th again, and it was dispatched that day, had it 2 days later, can't complain about that. The chair had a slight mark on it, but contacted customer services and they were brilliant at helping me and offering me a refund, got £40 back which i think is very reasonable. The chair itself, can't fault, it's truly excellent and very comfortable
Order a chair over a month ago. Payment was taken immediately and to this day have had 1 generic email from them regarding the status
There's no contact number or anything to be able to contact direct just a generic email address that does not respond
Terrible service
I'll review the actual chair if I ever receive it
Purchased 2 chairs for myself and hubby as both working from home due to covid. My chair had a scuff mark in the middle of the seat pad where it was very visible. I sent photos to the customer service team and was offered £20 credit which i did not accept (think this is likely their default first pitch). I asked them about returning the chair as actually i wasnt convinced it was going to work for me comfort wise. They then offered 50% refund and i keep the chair, I said thank you but i would prefer to send back their faulty chair and raised it with Paypal (this was my payment method). Boulies have now said i must pay full cost of return shipping (to China) and the shipment must arrive as originally dispatched with zero damage for me to get refund.
There should be a note on their .co.uk website that they are not actually trading from the UK. I am currently costing up the shipping costs to return the chair as they are likely to be significant. BUYER BEWARE
One of my key reasons for not wanting to keep the second chair was seeing how quickly the materials and padding degraded on my hubbys chair after only 3 days of use. I have serious reservations on the quality /longevity of the padding materials used. After 3 days of use in my home office there was already visible wear marks and indents on the seat pad. Our previous chairs we had for around 12 years and didnt suffer from this.
