STAIRWAY TO HELL

STAIRWAY TO HELL!
We ordered a steel spined staircase with oak open risers from Bradfabs in 2022 as we were building a new house. We were informed by their terms and conditions that it would be made to building regulations and benefitted from a three year warranty.
However, after all floor tiling and decoration had finished around the staircase our main builder told us that the staircase did not meet building regulations. The remedial work required included digging up the floor, straightening/welding bent metalwork all of which significantly damaged our tiling and decorations.
We were subsequently informed by the Building Inspector that the staircase still did not meet regulations as the gap between the treads exceeded 100mm. Further work was required to address this which spoiled the original staircase design.
Although the house was only occupied in January 2023 a split developed recently between the wood planking on the half landing probably due to poor jointing/gluing when manufactured. The response from Bradfabs to fill the damage with wood filler was totally unacceptable and inadequate.

Our brilliant balcony, decking and staircase

Our balcony, decking and staircase were completed in a week and the team worked unbelievably hard each day starting at 08:00 and finishing at 20:20. Their attention to detail was excellent and the finished balcony exceeds our expectation. We are very grateful to all the team at Bradfabs for their care and professionalism throughout our dealings, incredibly well done.
