Website is too rudimentary to allow me to enroll online. So called customer support. In fact, spoke with 5 different people on three different days and got a different set of instructions from each... See more

Attempts to open a CD using my savings…
Attempts to open a CD using my savings account balance at the same institution failed. The customer service line suggests I need to do it as if the savings account is at an external institution. This is absurd. What bank makes you enter routing and full account number when it is at their bank?! In addition there were 5 pre-populated funding source choices that were cryptically named and unrecognizable. None of the explanations provided made sense and I left with no confidence this bank knows what they are doing. At a minimum they need new leadership in their IT department.
Couldn’t even open an app..,
I could not even open an app with them because it said my info was wrong. I guess I’m glad it didn’t work after seeing all of these reviews. Used it on a Wayfair purchase because I thought it was the only option because Wayfair became Bread. But it’s also American Express? I’m worried now and will be close it hopefully.
Scam Artists
Had an account for two months. Suddenly my password wouldn't work and was told to call. Called, never got through to anyone. It's been a year and my account is off limits still to me the owner. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. They are scam artists and the Feds should investigate. Our country is no longer trustworthy. Politicians of both stripes work hard so that LLCs can rip people off legally and get rich. This company is one such scam company preying on hard working America citizens.
Never use their credit cards!!!
Never use their credit cards! I regret so much applied it. Now I just don’t want to touch their card anymore. Their website always doesn’t work. Cannot send messages through their secure message center. They will ask your SSN card and driver license for only adding the credit card to Apple Pay. Although not even another bank was doing it. They asked to send SSN card to their email address and there’s no other way to unlock your card after you decided to add it to your Apple Pay. They only protect themselves. They don’t care about customers and the security of customers’ info at all. If customers lose any driver license or SSN info during email sending, then that’s all customers’ fault. I have never seen such a bank company like this. Avoid it. They can only steal your secure info. Extremely Poor customer service. What the representative can only say is they cannot help at all. They will say that’s our rule and you customer needs to follow the rule. Even the rule against you privacy and security. Even no other bank is doing that.
Also when I said I wanted to close the card, they said they can do nothing. If I give them my SSN card, they can verify my identity up to 30 days or close my account after 30 days.
So by just adding the card to apply pay, we MUST send them our SSN card! Otherwise we cannot even close the card!!!
I have been screwed over twice now by…
I have been screwed over twice now by Comenity Bank, now known as Bread Financial. DO NOT TRUST THEM when they say they’ve closed the account or cancelled the card after you’ve paid it off. Twice now I’ve paid my balance in full, and then months later was strapped with some random surprise late payment, because it accrued interest. Interest ON WHAT??? I paid it off. I closed the account. I cancelled the card. How can there be interest on nothing!?! I had a near to perfect credit score, and 4 months after paying off & closing everything, my credit is hit by some supposed late payment of interest that accrued on a zero balance closed account? Never trust this company, unless you want to get screwed.
These are my opinions and experiences…
These are my opinions and experiences regarding Bread Financial/Comenity Mastercard. They aren't crediting account balances in a timely manner or updating to the credit bureaus in a timely manner. It's almost like they are doing it on purpose to keep your balances from showing they've been lowered to the credit bureaus. It's a horrible company. Stay away.
Bread messed up my credit score
Thanks Bread Financial, for closing my paid off account after I worked my ass off to pay my 10k credit card balance off through Alphaeon and then closing my account due to inactivity, which penalizes me now . I barely had a paid off card for a month to two when they abruptly closed my account. I was even looking for a dermatologic procedure to keep this card open before they so aggressively closed it—which seems to be a bit coercive or illegal. “You can only keep it open if you use it again on a medical procedure” they told me. I will never ever use this company again they are predatory lenders. I won’t even mention what I paid in interest! Not to mention that several times their log in page did not work and I had to call several times and spoke to a guy in India to fix it, which made two of my payments late, not due to ME but to their internal software issues. I looked him up : this financial predator makes 8.69 million a year! Guess what he gets: 13.1 % salary and 86.9% bonuses. Would it really have hurt this institution to keep my account open??? Just another FWP getting rich off of us grinders. May your stock continue to sag like a soggy piece of bread.
DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY FIR CREDIT…
DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY FOR CREDIT CARDS! I’m shocked how easy it is for a company to commit fraud and still be in business. I had the Sephora card and what a joke. Community Bank was tge first issuer of the card which was equally as BAD. Over a year they were supposedly “revamping” their rewards program which I would not have had any issues with had they actually given me my rewards that I signed up for. But instead…they thought having that on their site woukd give them so sort of exclusion to not give people the rewards they rightfully earned. When the new rewards were rolled out…they still weren’t right. If you ever pay your card off…make sure you have a zero balance. They will try and sneak a $2 charge in on you. Beyond pathetic!!!!
terrible service
terrible service! they never respond back or try to fix the issue's. i tried so many times to get into my account to see my statements can never get in have to always use the easy pay.
This is a scam/finance company they…
This is a scam/finance company they charge huge finance charges just like a finance company. Wayfair should have informed their customers that this a finance company giving us the option to pay our bill in full or staying. Wayfair really dropped us they don’t care about their customers at all. I have had this card for years with no issues until it was changed to Comenity Bank/ Bread Financial way to go Wayfair flushing us down the toilet.
Our Introduction Didn't Go Well
I never heard of Bread Financial until getting a "you're in default on a loan" letter from them in the mail. A thief used my name and good credit to take out a loan and buy over $1000 in equipment from Nikon.
I get that lenders walk a fine line between making their applications too onerous and making it too easy to open a fraudulent account. However, you would think they could have (1) mailed me something when the account was opened, (2) verified that the phone number used matched a known number in my credit report, (3) verified that the email address used matched a known email for me. Or (4), "other" verification. Any one of these things would have been an improvement.
I'm still cleaning up the mess made when a criminal stole my identity and Bread allowed it to happen with their toothless identity verification. So it's safe to say I'm not a Bread fan.
I signed up for one of their high…
I signed up for one of their high paying CDs only to be denied after I had filled in all my info. I called and got a person who could barely speak English and he could not tell me why I was denied. Sounds like a scam to get your banking info.
I financed cabinets through Bread…
I financed cabinets through Bread Financial with US Bath Store. US Bath was unable to deliver the cabinets and I was forced to cancel the order. US Bath received money from Bread Financial and refuses to return the money. Bread is threatening to report me to the credit bureau. I find this arrangement between US Bath and Bread suspicious.
Signed up for the high-yield savings…
Signed up for the high-yield savings account via their website and was declined. No reason given and their support line was useless. The application requires a lot of personal information only to be declined. Especially worrisome is they have my Soc. Sec. number. I have changed all my passwords. Avoid this company altogether if you're used to standard levels of service.
Avoid This Savings Account
Signed up for the high-yield savings account via their website and was declined. No reason given and their support line was unable to provide any reasoning. I definitely filled in all info correctly and could fund the account without issue. Bread Financial's business acumen is completely lacking in this case. Best to avoid this company altogether if you're used to standard levels of service.
