Make sure you don't overstay your 'welcome'
We (2 adults) visited this restaurant for lunch on Saturday 13th June. We'd been once before for a basic main meal and decided to try it again..
The restaurant is small, most tables cater for only two people. The restaurant was half empty when we arrived and this was still the case when we left.
We ordered hot drinks and a main meal each as soon as we arrived. There was a long wait for the food but it was freshly cooked. One of us had a small piece of beef in a peppercorn sauce, a teaspoon of spinach, and 4 grilled cherry tomatoes. There was also a small portion of french fries but this was initially forgotton and not served with the main meal. The order was for the meat not to be rare (i.e. not bloody) but it was. No complaint was raised. That meal cost £36. The second person had Thai Chicken curry. This included a small amount of fresh veg (looked like pak choi), a spicy sauce and pieces of chicken. The chicken had obviously been cooked separately, was bland with no flavour and had not been marinaded. That meal cost £21. We both ordered 'afters' but one was still partly cold in the middle when it was served as it hadn't been heated up thoroughly. Again no complaint was raised. Both puddings were very small and didn't take long to eat. One of us also ordered a second hot drink with their pudding. When this was served we were told we had only 15 minutes left at the table. We were shocked by the attitude of the staff member concerned. There was no explanation or apology for the warning and there were still 5 empty tables left in the restaurant (6 when we left). During the meal there also appeared to be some friction going on between 2 members of the serving serving staff. We paid a total of £86 for our meals and for 3 hot drinks. We left feeling really uncomfortable and would not go back. We didn't think it was good value for money.
