Beware When Things Go Wrong
As a loyal customer for about 20 years, I would have given Bristol’s Mobility Centre /Care Plus Mobility 5 stars for the service it had provided. However, a company is best judged on how it responds when things go wrong, and this issue could have and should have been dealt with so differently. When my powerchair was serviced in April 2025 which included a battery change, the powered vehicle restraint system accessory attached to my chair was incorrectly rewired back to the new power supply. This destroyed it on its first operation after the service. It was also incorrectly remounted onto the chair, rendering it completely unsafe and useless in the event of any accident in my drive-from wheelchair vehicle. Getting this all sorted out and fixed left me £865.50 out of pocket. Communications seeking redress with Stacey Showering, the Managing Director, over the next few months were met with denial, deflection, lies, prevarication and a complete refusal to accept any responsibility for their engineering incompetence, not to mention also causing a lot of stress. So I was left with no other option but to take them to the small claims court (HM Courts & Tribunal Services) in September. Just before the deadline for a hearing, they admitted all of the claim and repaid me in full plus costs and interest, a total of £953.17. A disgraceful lack of professionalism and integrity and as yet, still no apology. They have lost my custom. 1 star as I am unable to give a zero stars rating.
