BT ARE A NIGHTMARE.

BT ARE A NIGHTMARE.. I have had no phone line or broadband for nearly 3 weeks, my business is suffering massively, BT have passed me from pillar to post, no real known cause, everyone saying something different, they are driving me mad. they told me that the line was taken over by Opal telecom, i never even heard of them, then i have to give them permission to get my line back, it just does not make sense. no one is helping me, I've made about ten complaints but no one is helping me. it really is terrible and soul destroying to be treated like this.. and i am no wiser than i was three weeks ago, and still no phone line.

BT the worst Company on the Planet!

In the Summer of 2019 BT offered high speed broadband with speeds of 150Mbps.The price was provided and I was given a connection date of 6th September 2019. On September 5th BT advised that the installation would not be taking place. September came and went and no Broadband but a note from BT stating the connection date would be October 2019. October 2019 came and went no Broadband. A note from BT advised connection would be February 2020! When I received my bill I discovered that BT had started to charge me the new high speed broadband price! February 2020 came and went and no high speed broadband. Nothing from BT. August 2020 BT advised high speed Broadband was being connected and this would soon take place. BT then advised that the date was inconvenient and they would call back with a new date. No call was received. BT than advised the Engineer would be arriving between 1pm - 6pm. on August 20th. On August 17th BT advised that an Engineer would now be arriving between 8am - 1pm! - I having already advised BT that there would be no one available between 8am - 1pm. On August 20th a BT Engineer arrived at 2.30pm to connect the Broadband. When connected i advised that the speed was slow - not even reaching 100Mbps. The Engineer stated that it would take 48 hours for the speed to increase to the contracted speed. After several weeks the speed had not increased at all so I wrote a letter complaining to BT. To date I have received no response, no acknowledgement or telephone call following my complaint. I had discovered that BT had charged me additional costs for connection - not given in their original quote. I discussed this with their "Chat Line" and the operator immediately apologised and said i would receive a credit for these charges which were over £50. To date only a fraction of the overcharge has been credited!
DOES ANYONE UNDERSTAND WHY ONE SHOULD DO ANY BUSINESS WITH BT!!!

Telephone Scammers

It appears every time the phone bill is paid my number which is ex directory, tps, call privacy, blocker phone is put on a scammers database. As proof of this the bill was paid yesterday and today had 3 calls, 2 hung up from non existent numbers the third I answered to listen to a tape recorded message stating it was Open Reach and my phone and broadband connection was being cut off within 24 hours - on checking the number it was a Sky answer machine, I now have to disconnect my phone so scammers get no response to stop the calls for a while What's the point in paying for a landline with this company who are illegally making money selling our phone numbers to fraudsters!

Awful experience i wont wish on my enemy…

I made the unfortunate choice of trying to change over from sly due to dropouts. First the connection day came and nothing happened. Sky of course disconnects the line but BT does nothing. They never call back when their website says they will. Left without a phone and internet for over a week with no mitigation in a rural area with no mobile signal. Yes BT is putting my life at risk.

As a BT business customer for over 39…

As a BT business customer for over 39 years I was surprised to find out I have to pay £100 + £10 postage for a replacement router
When I renewed my contact I keeper the old router, thinking it was covered for replacement if it went wrong .
Advice when you renew a contract get a new router as it won’t be covered
I was not told this at the time of renewing my contract
At least it’s just a few months
It’s now cheaper to do a new contract
Than paying £110 for 5months of contract left
BT lost more than my business it’s lost my trust and never to return as a customer

Please never ever buy telephone or…

Please never ever buy telephone or broadband services from this fraudulent company
I ordered BT broadband in October 2016 from BT. They gave an engineer appointment and I took leave from work for that appointment. Guess what? It was a no show. I called them again and then was fobbed off tossed from one person to the other after 2 hours some body promised that the engineer will turn up next day.. lo and behold the same saga continued ...for 8 times for another 6 weeks each time I had to queue for hours on the phone line. It was the worst nightmare of my life and ordering broadband from BT by far the biggest mistake. I cancelled the order as I could not take any more. but guess what it took me 3 hours on the phone to cancel the order after being tossed between 5 different operators. I then returned their equipment but the nightmare continued and BT send me a bill of 169 pounds. When I called their customer service.after queuing for 90 minutes a lady told me to ignore the bill as it was system’s fault. To my shock the nightmare has been continuing for 4 years as now BT has managed to enter a default entry in my Experian credit report. Please don’t go to BT for any sort of business..

Horrible Start but now very satisfied

We had our installation date as the 05.06.20 and everything was all set up and installed and we had cancelled our previous supplier only to be told that there was no room at the exchange box. We had to wait for 5 days to get this rectified and with 3 teenagers and an accountant who was trying to work from home I can tell you it was difficult to be without WiFi.

BT were very good and sent out a temporary router that ran on a sim card free of charge, again this was not without incident but it did arrive within 3 days and we were able to resume schooling and work. The gent arrived on the fifth day and made the adjustments to the exchange box.

We have now had not one hiccup in the connection and speed and I would recommend BT for WiFi.

BT has made it impossible to find their 'Live Chat' link to communicate with them. They ask you not to telephone (waiting time about one hour plus anyway) but their website sends you around in circles providing options that are irrelevant. It is obvious why the vast majority of ratings are one star

I spent 43 years working for BT

I spent 43 years working for BT. The only thing that keeps the company afloat is the good will and dedication of the full time staff. The problem is the management. It is top heavy with managers, many of whom have no real work to do and so are given 'projects' to fill their time. The attitude amongst many managers seems to be that the workforce is lazy and up to something and so needs to be leaned on. Over the decades I saw so many cases of bullying I came to the conclusion that it was rife throughout the company.

I absolutely hate this provider

I absolutely hate this provider! I struggle every time to get into my emails and I’ve changed my password numerous times and it still doesn’t let me in. If rubbish companies like this one were more concerned about their customers and less about making MONEY it might get better. I would not recommend them or ever go back to them. If I’m unable to get in again I’m taking my business elsewhere.

I came to help my father because he had fallen ill with cancer and is 87 years old, In helping him i needed to contact BT which he had his TV Phone & internet with. His contract had finished and i presumed had just rolled into a monthly contract. When i spoke to BT they claimed my father had gone online and renewed for another two years, which i new was not true because i were staying with him at the time they claimed and he was to ill to go on the computer. I challenged them on this and were told they would refer it up the chain and get it sorted and come back to me. I got no response so called back where they were very rude and said they would not deal with us and sent the case to the ombudsman, which they must think they will come well out of. I would warn anybody out there that they seem to be renewing these contracts without consent. If they can treat a 87 year old terminally ill cancer sufferer like this because they think they can get away with it what a despicable disgusting company they have become.

BT @ Highbury and Islington

Specifically for the Highbury and Islington area.

I got a 2 year contract for BT with the promise of 12-15mbps with a minimum of 3mbps. I’ve had it since December and it’s been terrible. I’ve been averaging around 4mbps well below range, but just enough so they don’t breach their threshold.

I will be cancelling and joining Hyperoptic who can deliver fibre. Sadly I’ll have to pay a cancellation fee for their poor service. A lesson learned. Never get copper broadband in the modern era. Even if the promised range is fit for purpose!!

Stuck in a bygone era

I think a lot of people stick with BT because over all the years gone by they have traded on a solid reputation. They are truly set in the seventies. Very very badly organised. They couldn’t care less about the customer. Their tv is awful - often breaking down, their Wi-fi and telephone direct dial is expensive and their Customer Service staff very rude, couldn’t care less and totally inefficient. We have been a BT customer for many, many years. We moved house over a week ago, and since then, have had no TV, no internet/Wi-fi and no telephone line. It’s not due to start until next week, but we’ve cancelled it as can’t risk them getting it wrong again. This is 2020 not 1972, and yet BT still run their company in the manner of some state owned firm from fifty years’ ago.

We have had enough - of the rudeness, the complete lack of any customer interest or help and the comparatively large bills. They have lost a customer who would’ve stayed on for ever, for ease of use, despite spending a lot of money with them. They need to be careful. Younger people, probably quite rightly, do not share those visions of loyalty. The days of BT ruling The telecoms industry, I think will soon be over. In this day and age, where it is important to stay connected, they just simply can’t keep up. And the staff that work for them don’t even care and that’s dangerous for any Company.

Anyone reading this moving here from another country - I would strongly advise you to have a look at the great deals out there offered by newer companies. Even if the customer service is so-so, you will be paying far, far less for a better group of services.
