Scammers! Avoid the app!! The good reviews are members of the mischievous scamming app. They'll steal your money you do not have access to customer support or whatever.

I switched to bunq a few months ago and I am so happy I did! The app is super user-friendly and easy to navigate. I also love that they have a green focus, it makes me feel good about supporting a company that cares about the environment.

Like so many others here I had bad experiences of not being able to access support or get my money out. When I complained, Bunq blocked my account.

It was my only bank account in the country and I was screwed with no way to pay for daily expenses or rent. There's no phone number and no customer service offices. I went to their developer offices (they're in Sloterdijk) and knocked on the door. Those inside ignored me for 30 minutes until I caught someone going to lunch. I told her that either they could unblock my account and approve the transfer of my funds out or I would go immediately to the police and return with police officers.

They reluctantly agreed, unblocked my account and approved the transfer of my funds out into a new account I had opened at ABN AMRO. My life would have been so screwed if I hadn't done that.

I have since learned that the CEO and owner, Ali Niknam, has a reputation in Amsterdam (just visit glassdoor.com for what his employees have to say about him). So relieved that I escaped this scamming fraudulent company.

I signed up with bunq, eventually got their verification process to work (third try), transferred a little money in and out. All fine ish (for a French bank). Now it turns out that they have been keeping a salary advance on hold for two days, and the only notice I got from them was buried in the support part of their app. Not even an email notification about this hugely consequential holdup. They said three hours to clear this and release the money once I sent the required proof of the nature of the transaction. Now they have stopped responding altogether, 5 hours later. I really need that money to pay off my credit cards (that’s why it was a salary advance!!) No warning before this episode that they might suddenly freeze transactions, and almost no attempt to communicate that they had even done so. I have done what they asked, and now they are further delaying. Make your own mind up: would you rely on this bank?
