Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the products, citing issues such as poor durability, screens cracking easily, and devices failing shortly after purchase or warranty expiration. Reviewers frequently encountered problems with customer service, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and often directing them to unhelpful links or offering costly refurbished replacements for faulty new items. The user experience was also a common point of frustration, with many finding devices difficult to set up, unintuitive to use, and having poor user interfaces. Additionally, the price of the products was often deemed too high given the perceived lack of quality and short lifespan. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with customer service, praising specific representatives for being helpful and professional. A few other people also felt that some products, like certain watch straps, were of good quality and worth the cost, and some found specific watch models to be amazing and accurate for data tracking.

Waste of time limited 1 year warranty…

Waste of time limited 1 year warranty on £700 pound watch that developed a hardware issue and end result is to palm me off with a refurb and subsequent reviews of those don’t look good
The main cons of refurbished products include potential cosmetic flaws, shorter lifespans, missing original accessories, limited availability of specific models, and potentially shorter warranties,

Useless customer service

Useless customer service. Watch still hadn’t been dispatched after 3 days, contacted customer service chat who said it’s not in stock and it might be next week. No email to notify me. I asked what happens if it doesn’t come in next week, they said I need to contact them again asking about delivery. Guy I spoke to was unhelpful and just said I can cancel the order?

A longtime Garmin watch user

A longtime Garmin watch user, I encountered the blue triangle problem shortly after the warranty ended. All they offered was £50 off a new model. Not the standout service I expected.

DO NOT BUY YET

Purchased a Garmin Bounce 2. Watch does not make or receive calls. Garmin are aware of this and continue to sell working on a solution in the meantime, however will not refund as bought over 30 days ago for a Christmas present. Solution from Garmin is no refund, they will refund the monthly subscription but I am stuck with a £269 smart (dumb) watch.

Bought a Fenix 7 watch

Bought a Fenix 7 watch, was told it would be 3 days for delivery. Bought on the 21/12 so it would be in time for Xmas. Today (2/1) watch still not dispatched.
I chased customer sevrice which was shut all over Xmas and finally a chat was available today. Told the order was not dispatched as the security on the card had blocked payment. Nowhere was this stated at point of sale, and if I logged in the order was confirmed but not dispatched. Alll looked good and nowghere did it state there was a failed payment. Now it is too late and the present is spoiled.

Terrible systems and shocking availability of customer service.

In my opinion Garmin is total junk.I have owned three Forerunner watches, all of them are completely inaccurate. Mileage is inaccurate, sleep is inaccurate, you name it…it’s inaccurate. I also owned a motorcycle GPS from Garmin….it took me 100 miles in the wrong direction at night on a mountain road. It tells me to go through THREE neighborhoods to to get to a main highway..although I live two blocks from the highway in a straight line, Would NEVER recommend their products to anyone.

bought a garmin and after 2 weeks of use despite normal, careful use, the watch has already developed a noticeable scratch on the screen.
I emailed garmin about and they came back to me with the stupided option to send me a refurbished replacements for 135aud. This is so ridiculos, they mention warranty but it does not cover anything.
I expected a higher level of durability from a Garmin product, particularly given its price

I bought vivoactive-5 model has rounded…

I bought vivoactive-5 model has rounded glass edges, so the glass cracks at the slightest impact. I bought the watch three months ago and the glass cracked immediately after a minor impact. As it was not a manufacturing defect, it was not covered by the warranty. Definitely do not buy it for everyday use; if you accidentally knock your watch even slightly, the glass could crack.

Appalling customer service

Appalling customer service. Never received watch. Ordered on Black Friday received tracking info from UPS. Then it all went wrong. UPS made up excuses on a daily basis as to why they hadn’t delivered. All lies. Contacted Garmin? They were utterly ineffectual and Then Garmin customer service refused to intervene or help. They seemed to have r forgotten that the sales contract was with them as I had made the purchase from them. They were completely unbothered. In the end I had to reclaim a refund through the PayPal resolution centre which of course found in my favour. Will never buy another product from Garmin. Utterly awful.

Doesn't last and poor Garmin exchange service

Love the hybrid design but there is absolutely no longevity with this watch. Mine failed outside of the warranty period (warranty 12 months, started having issues at approximately 18 months) with hands consistently not keeping time accurately. I would expect longer use from a $300 watch. Garmin have offered an exchange where I can purchase a new watch for ~$170 given its outside of the warranty period. I decided to give this a go, given I love the aesthetic of the traditional looking watch hands combined with basic sports tracking. I've organised this via express post as I want the watch before travelling. 4 business days later and it still hasn't even been dispatched. Really poor service

1 star review so you know it's not…

1 star review so you know it's not good. Have had significant issues with the altimeter and HR monitor on my watch. The screen halfway burned out pretty early into ownership, but I could still see what was important to me so I never contacted warranty. I emailed customer service, sent them what they required to prove the screen and the data I was getting from the health sensors was bad, and the options they gave me were absolutely abysmal. Tried to elevate the claim to a supervisor and was rudely pushed aside by my original contact. Had to reach out multiple times and get a little hot under the collar to speak to ANYONE but the person I originally exchanged emails with. They make cool products, but after a little research (and all the terrible online reviews) I've decided never to purchase their stuff again. They don't stand behind their products, and there are A TON of other options out there that might not have the name recognition, but come with the same features and significantly better warranties. If you're the kinda person that buys a luxury car just for the badge then this is the brand for you. If not, do yourself a favor and just avoid them.

Garmin Fenix 8 is not a smart watch

I travelled seated in a slow-moving bus on a steep bumpy road in Bolivia and my Garmin Fenix 8, supposedly a 'smart' watch, recorded 37,346 steps, 334 floors climbed and 340 floors descended in the day. It is not smart enough to turn off step-counting or floor-counting when the watch has a forward velocity greater than walking pace. It recorded all bumps in the local roads as 'steps', even when I was travelling at 50 kph too. Surely the watch's accelerometer should be able to determine forward velocity and work out that I am not walking or running? The watch did this for nearly 3 weeks so it now thinks that I am fitter than I actually am.

The watch also went back one hour in Bolivia on the night the clocks went back in England, where I normally live. I had set the time zone to Auto (there is no function to manually set the time zone) but I had turned my phone off to conserve the battery and the watch was not smart enough to remember or know that I wasn't in the UK. The alarm in my watch didn't go off at 5 am as the watch had reset itself to 4 am, so I was late for my appointment. As the watch has a GPS sensor, sorely it could determined where it was in the world and set the local time automatically, or at least subtract 4 hours (the time difference) without the need to be paired with a telephone? If the watch won't keep time properly without a telephone, how can it intrinsically be smart? It's a slave watch.
I reorted both these issues to Garmin but got no automatic response telling me that my observations had been received.

Absolutely astounding customer service

Absolutely astounding customer service. Was allergic to my watch strap and have just been sent a leather one completely free of charge. The customer service assistants are wonderful and helpful. Wouldn’t buy any other brand.

Very poor customer service experience

Very poor customer service experience. Not even trying to help with fixing the issue, ignoring any requests for a reasonable help, and all they do is keep dropping the links to user manual, instead of helping to resolve the problem. Even when clearly asked not to refer me to any links as whatever is in user manual was already tried, and failed to work, but customer service don't care, they just keep pushing links and forcing to go. Ah, Venu 4 is a total failure as comparing to Venu 3.

Garmin SmartDrive 76 not as advertised

bought a SmartDrive 76 as set up didn't require a desktop computer.
unfortunately one year down the line a recent WiFi update and files were missing, contacted their online help team and the only way around the problem is downloading Garmin/Express on an actual computer. not compatible with tablets or chromebooks.
Not a happy bunny.

Terrible customer service

Purchased a brand new forerunner 955, I was unable to set it up as I kept getting an error message. I contacted support who talked me through some steps to fix it. It didn't work so they said they would have to exchange the watch as it was faulty. Even though I paid for a brand new watch they said they could only exchange it for pre owned restored one! Why would I pay full price for a refurbished watch?? Terrible customer service

Warranty? They don't know her

My watch face cracked after six weeks - it wasn't dropped, it didn't have anything dropped on it, I didn't bang my arm against anything, I just wore it on my wrist like a normal person and swam in an indoor pool a couple times a week.
But the screen cracked, the support rep said it must be my fault and directed me to a site outlining Garmin's policy that any damage to any item at any time is never their problem. Then she told me I could send it in and exchange it for a new one if I paid an amount that was half the watch's original cost.
