I was cold-called by this company and, as someone new to coin collecting, I was intrigued by their offer. I was told they had just acquired a private collection of 1921 High Relief Peace Dollars in brilliant uncirculated condition and was offered a full roll for $1,650. After doing a quick search on eBay, the price seemed reasonable, so I agreed to the purchase.
However, after receiving the invoice, I noticed it listed 1922 Peace Dollars, not the 1921s I was specifically told I was buying. I immediately contacted the company to express my concern. I was told that such an offer would never have been made, though they record all calls and would review the conversation. I was then asked to wait until the coins arrived and assess their quality before pursuing a return.
Once I received the coins, it was clear they were not as represented. They were 1922 Peace Dollars, not 1921s, and appeared to have been cleaned, which significantly diminishes their value. I consulted others in the hobby and was advised that these coins were overpriced and likely not desirable to serious collectors.
When I followed up with the company, hoping for a professional resolution, the owner became extremely rude—calling me a "pain in the ass" and saying he wished he had never dealt with me before abruptly hanging up. I later left a voicemail suggesting we resolve the issue respectfully. He did call back and apologized, offering only a $450 partial refund, but refused to allow a full return.
In the end, I am left with coins that were misrepresented, overpriced, and difficult to sell due to their perceived condition. I found the entire experience extremely disappointing and unprofessional, and I hope others exercise caution when dealing with this business.
