I have asked James at Bytes Free to carry out a lot of work over a few different consoles in the last few months.
The quality of work, the customer service including communication has been exceptional and the amount charged in every case has been competitive and reasonable. I cannot recommend enough the services of Bytes Free. I certainly would be a returning customer when I require his services again.

Bytes Free made my Wii better.
Wii got fixed.
Wii got cleaned.
Wii got HDMI output.
Wii had it's Controller/Memory Card covers replaced.
Timing was pretty good.

Exceptional Service
Sent my Dreamcast to James because it had a fault with the picture that was causing a green hue on the screen and lots of lag. He went above and beyond to not only diagnose and fix the issue, but to recap the console and power unit and it now works perfectly.
James kept me updated throughout the whole process and when the issue turned out to be more complex than initially anticipated, he gave me costed options, so that i could decide whether i wanted to proceed any further. Payment is made once the work has completed, so you have piece of mind. Once i’d settled the invoice, return postage was quick and the console was well packaged.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use this service again for some of my other consoles.

Fixed Dreamcast
James fixed a pink display issue I had on my Dreamcast which was caused by a gdemu scew piercing the motherboard. At the same time he also replaced the original capacitors. Photos were sent of the work after completion and payment was online. Would recommend and will use again for future retro console repairs.

Efficient and no nonsense

Sent in my N64 and my GameCube for a HDMI upgrade, and came back a week later done to perfection! James also cleaned up my own messy soldering I did before hand. Absolute top guy!!

A quick, efficient upgrade
I asked James to upgrade my xbox controller to use Hall effect sticks. Even though I said I was in no rush, he had the controller ready the next day. All communication was clear and my controller is working excellently.
