First, they say unlimited tests.. Then they do not have the test paper for review till you take the class to review the tests, which is one set of classes for English and math.

$4000+ never returned by C2

I paid over $4000 with a credit card for a program for my child with a strong ADD. The very same day when I paid, my son was too overwhelmed, and we decided to cancel the program. In one hour of my payment and not even the program started, I asked for a refund. First, they discounted a cancellation fee of over $100, and although they promised to return the rest back to me, I have not received it. It has been 32 days, and I have not received the money yet. I am extremely upset how poorly I have been treated.

Too many other and better choices

We only took my son to C2 because we had hours left from our daughter. The new director has very little knowledge of college admissions, unlike to the former director who we loved. The former director HAD to leave C2 because she had COVID and refused to expose her students and staff because she was forced to work anyway. The area director Danielle is horrible and condescending. They do not care about anything but money.

Big rip-off

Big rip-off. Overly cost and bad customer service. Stay away from it. Go somewhere that can help your child improve their score. The upper-level management is awful. Only money is important to them.

Even 1 star is a compliment

Even 1 star is a compliment. This company is only about money. I signed my daughter up thinking she would improve her act score but she saw that it wasn't helping her and she didn't like working with the teachers at all. One of the teachers (Tom) humiliated her and another student by making them feel bad for not knowing how to do some of the math problems in the workbook. Another teacher gave an answer key for an assignment and told my daughter not to tell anyone. This same teacher would teach as if he was helping himself remember the concepts. The online tutoring for the college essay was an entirely different thing. The tutor would be gone for more than 40 minutes each session trying to kill time so that we could use up more hours. My daughter raised her hand virtually in the call many times but it would still take the tutor long to come back. Don't get me started on trying to reach a manager to contact about my concerns. Absolutely no one will respond and we have been trying to contact them for 5 months now.

Please buy as few hour as possible

I bought 200 hours 3 years ago but haven't used all the hours yet because it did not help my kids.
First, the teachers are not meeting students' needs. They plan for themselves and are only sitting the kids.
Second, the purchased hours expire. Please don't buy more than you need even with promotion.
Third, staffs are not cooperating for student's progress and whimsically change their policies.
Fourth, teachers are not keeping student's privacy when having the lesson with three kids.
Fifth, one teacher can teach any lesson like Math, Science, English, Spanish, not professional. And Staffs don't reveal the teacher's credentials.
Sixth, their test questions are often rarely found in real tests.
Seventh, they don't want to provide the appropriate level of study material and sometimes give only copies not the assigned books.
Most of all I hope they should be equipped with efficient tutors for their business. If you really need C2's help, please buy the minimum number of hours or find a private tutor. I feel like I am trapped with too many unused C2 hours and am forced to let my child waste time.
I hope this helps.
Thank you!

Waste of money and time

My son was attending 2 days out-of the week for two hours each day. The teacher/tutor was spending maybe 3o minutes If that with my son. So for an hour and half he was reading to himself. How the hell is that going to improve his reading??? He actually went down a grade level since attending here. When I asked for a refund since I had paid in full. They had the nerve to say I'm only getting $800 of the over $6000 I paid!!! Don't waste your money people. Run as far away from here. Trust me your child will not get any help. I would give zero stars if possible.

They wasted our money and time, they are hopeless

They wasted our money and time and are not refunding. The tutors do nothing, not even review an assignment nor help with quiz/test. Time/grades/money everything is down the drain.

They exploit both parents and their tutors economically

I was offered a tutoring post by C2 in Ballantyne NC. I'm 57, 3 degrees, experienced math tutor and teacher. They offered me $ 25 an hour, charging parents at least $ 65 an hr and expecting me to teach 3 kids (so on average you are paying for 20 mins per hour for your student). In other words they keep $ 160 at least per hour and pay tutors $ 25. Exploitative of both tutors and parents. Some of their training material for tutors is untruthful. Their curriculum books are quite thorough but they aren't individually customised but their tutors are supposed to customise the material. I also work for Wyzant, Vinthill and Tutor Doctor. I turned down C2 , and I would advise you to avoid them.

Helpful if good local C2 center director

My son started C2 to improve his SAT score, get some help with his AP classes if/ when he needed to boost up his GPA and also to get help with personalized college essays. He had rough drafts and some ideas for his essays but wasn't getting the help he needed because his center was not giving him hours/ scheduling. Local center director put him on waiting list when he was running out of time for college applications.
The district director of NC & Georgia found out that he is not getting the help, she personally took time out to contact me and to talk with me to discuss my concerns so they could help us out as well improve their tutoring services for others. She immediately started looking for virtual C2 college essay experts and scheduled him for a virtual session and then I was also able to schedule some hours at the local center as well. She went above and beyond to help. She made sure that he is getting the help he needed in a timely manner. She personally set up a session with him to help him with college application process as well. I'm SO grateful for her help. I would give more than 5 starts for the district director, Kira's help but taking away two stars because it was like pulling my teeth out to get him scheduled before she intervened. His baseline SAT score was 1430 (out of 1600) that he took with only 2-3 days of studying to see where he is without studying much and before starting C2. His goal was above 1500 but unfortunately didn't meet his goal. He said C2 math SAT diagnostic practice test is harder than actual SAT Math test and their reading is easier than the actual SAT reading. Hope this helps.

Scammers and liars

C2 does not follow through with their promises at all.

C2 promises a customized curriculum. This is a boldfaced lie. Every student gets the same books and the teachers just go in order, chapter by chapter. There is no customization at all.

C2 promises monthly meetings with families. Another lie. The director in charge only really cares about getting money from you and your friends. They don't reach out to schedule meetings unless they want you to pay for more instruction. They are fine with ignoring you as long as they have your money. When they need money, they will hound you, sometimes the staff is very rude.

Speaking of meetings, their system is ARCHAIC. There is no platform to schedule meetings or classes, you have to call or email the office directly. Half of the time, when you call they don't even have enough space. This is an absolute waste of thousands of dollars.

If you need SAT tutoring for your kid, buy a couple of prep books and hire a college kid who could use the extra money. Don't waste your time with this terrible organization.

C2 Columbia in Maryland became a…

C2 Columbia in Maryland became a deceptive business location after Esther-the current director joined in May 2022. First, she refused to disclose remaining balance on student account, and then refused to schedule my son's session. She said C2 headquater is a big empty company, once they received your money they don't care about parents making complaints about branches therefore she's not afraid of. But I wrote to C2 headquarters in hope to have someone investigate this location. We're filing a civil lawsuit against this center(suggested by the polices) because C2 columbia broke their promise/agreement not scheduling study session after took our money. Parents, stay away from this toxic location.

All the positive feedbacks left for this center were from the past with two previous directors. You could find there are already three negative feedbacks left since Esther join in May 2022, and I'm sure there are more to come very soon. She said she doesn't care about customer relationship because the headquarter doesn't care about the negative feedbacks. She's there to stress parents out and fight with parents instead of helping them after took their money. Even the front desk guy suggested to contact the district director to get the help we need.

I would give 0 star to this location if I had a choice.

C2 is a Great Academic Investment

C2 has helped me in all academic areas of my life. It has aided me not only by providing practice tests for the SAT and my AP classes, but it has also given me great resources like textbooks and amazing tutors to help me understand and better comprehend difficult topics.

Overpriced as hell for what they offer

During a lesson, the teachers usually have about 3-4 students at a time so the supposed almost 2 hours are basically only 30 minutes tops. This is for in person, if you are doing online. Forget it, just don't even have class online. The amount of problems with the site is immeasurable. You barely learn anything and most of what you learn is from the book and the only reason you would go to class is for the answers do the book.

C2 of Denville and Morristown NOT GREAT

C2 of Denville and Morristown makes you pay up front for your "tutoring contract" and then manipulate you into contracts that they cannot fulfill in a timely way and for much longer than necessary.

When we suspended tutoring for a length of time for my daughter due to the demands of her extracurricular activities, we were told to let them know when we wanted to resume. When we did seek to resume, C2 of Denville Center Director, Sali, didn't respond to my inquiry for a month, and when she did, she said my contract expired a week earlier. She said if I wanted to resume tutoring for my daughter, none of my unused hours would rollover and I would have to sign a new contract. No consideration was given for their negligence in getting back to me in a timely way so I could leverage some of my contracted hours before they expired. Terrible customer service. Sali was rude and unaccountable.

She hid behind the contract language that said I had 12 months to use the hours. She would not acknowledge that she had ignored my email when there was a month left in my contract. Her exact words in an email to me were: "If there was an urgency in the matter certainly you would have used more than one method, or more than one time to contact us. If there was any intent to come to sessions immediately you would have come to the center or placed a call."

I'm responding urgently now. I'd recommend you go with one of the other test prep agencies (Princeton Review, Kaplan, etc.), or find a mom and pop tutor. C2 of Denville and Morristown does not honor its contracts and seems only concerned with how much money they can get from your tutoring contract, not to provide a service for your child. Disappointing.

This is sales 101....and delivery is awful.
No improvement after months....and the rest of their services are billed out at 1 hr of essay prep = 3 hours of tutoring.
A complete waste of money....

Beware of upselling tactics and deceptive promises

We signed up our daughter for SAT prep and C2 described their philosophy as customized expert instruction. A few days after we signed up, the center director called to tell us she was able to get an outstanding offer for us to double our hours at a savings but the offer was only good that day. She said we could use the hours for our son who was in 8th grade at the time. We took the offer. The C2 platform was not customized in any way. Each time my daughter took a practice exam, they would review the areas where she needed more work. However, she would just continue on with the next lesson in the workbook and there was no deviation from the book plan. When my son began SAT prep, the exact same thing happened. When he took his practice exams, his scores were emailed to us, but then nobody ever reviewed the exam with him to show him his mistakes. We had to complain regularly and their response would always be, "they should have done that". We lost complete faith in them and felt we should be able to get our money back for the remaining hours because the C2 prep provided no real benefit to us. We were then told the contract expires after 3 years which somehow was not mentioned and only in the fine print of the contract. My son would have only been starting 11th grade at the time the contract expired, the exact time he needed C2 prep. So that important fact was deliberately not mentioned when we signed the contract despite knowing it would not be useful for our son. Our center closed (I assume for poor management) and the new center who covered for a few months before the closure said they would honor our remaining hours. However, that center was no different with suboptimal tutors and management. During our time at C2 we had to deal with 5 different Center Directors. That should tell you something about their management problems. Each new director would tell us they have no responsibility for anything that happened with the previous director. They will not provide any corporate contact information to lodge complaints, but also will not take responsibility to address complaints.
I would not recommend C2 to any parent based on our experience. There appears to be many similar complaints on this site as well as the BBB so their model of upselling appears consistent.
