Poorly designed site to the point of unusable. Tried Guided Meditation series, great narrator says after intro just press play to continue to next video, except there is nothing to press and the app ALWAYS takes you to a page to refer friends. Impossible to find "next" video as it is like a library with no organization or semblance of order. Caused me MORE stress, less calm...
Terrible customer service
My wife ordered this through a recommendation from a sister.
2 years ago after spending 1 hour on the phone, wife canceled.
Now each year I fight with my credit card company that this is a fraudulent charge.
Calm doesn't ever reply to credit card company and charge is removed.
This company SUCKS

I saw this commercial on YouTube and ordered one bottle for 107.00. Now I get a charge for 296.99 on my credit card plus the 107.00. I’m going to dispute the 296.99 as I would have never ordered this if I had known they were going to charge me for something I did not order. Makes me very angry. Need to be careful what we order
Impossible to reach a human being at Calm
I didn't even know I had an account with them, then I get a warning of a hacked database. It was a struggle to log in at all, then found NO option to close my account on the page accessed by Windows Chrome. Their directions for closing an account could not work because there was no selection available for close account on the page I was directed to. Their bot was worthless and I could only get automated replies. I still want to close out my account! I am fully computer literate. No phone number listed.

Pulled support for listening via Sonos and won't offer refunds for customers who only used it this way.
Shockingly poor business practice
Content is fine. Admin processes show that it is clearly a rip-off, only interested in making money. There is no simple way to cancel a subscription, links for 'managing subscriptions' loop back on one another in an endless cycle, support links do not provide support. Every trustworthy and customer-oriented app provides a clear, simple one-step process for cancellation. Calm does not. They obviously try to discourage cancellations. Responses from customer service take 3 days. You will lose your money if you are not hyper-aware of when your subscription ends - no notice is sent.
Very large red flags on this one.
This app saved my life!!!
I am with a free account but honestly can't believe this reviews! IF IT WASN'T FOR THIS APP I WILL NOT BE ALIVE TODAY!!! I am their customer since 2019. I think it's the best our there.
Just checked my subscription. It has expired. I need to renew it and wanted to check if it's worth it because it's 23 pounds ATM (1 day offer) and if I could afford it. Really shocked at the reviews as I've been using the app and it's beautifully and it has so much for free already. I literally thought I was subscribed. Please, be decent people 🙏 and a bit more fair.
Thank you for makimg this app team Calm! I can't thank u enough ❤️ I'm sure my family would be thanking u too if they knew I am writing this review.
This company is supposed to set a…
This company is supposed to set a “calm” example. It’s robotic and ineffective customer service does the opposite. There are much better options available.
They can’t find my subscription
Purchased an annual subscription through an Instagram link. Calm customer service can’t find it and I can’t use it. I sent them the credit card receipt and the information I have but they wanted credit card details that were unwarranted. I’m still waiting for a resolution.
What an absolute con
What an absolute con. Within 24 hrs I cancelled my 1 day free trial. It took them longer to reply to my email and I was charged £24.99. When I challenged this with them, having had to send an email twice, they replied with the usual terms and conditions blurb. Customer service was exceptionally poor.
If you don’t want to waste your cash, steer well clear.
Calm - deceitful renewal practice
Unlike other subscriptions I have, Calm does not give advance notice of “automatic “ renewal notice-just a hefty $69.99 charge and no customer service available for 3 days. In other words, I snoozed and lost. Shameful - won’t ever renew again. Word to the wise - don’t purchase Calm. Better content is available.
Refunded me quickly
I recently signed up to the free 7 day trial. Whilst I did enjoy listening to the sleep stories and found them very effective, I also subscribe to audible and can get something similar. I decided to cancel, but was a day late and was charged £39.99. They had emailed me to warn me that the free trial was about to end, but I hadn't seen it. I immediately emailed the customer services team and received a refund the next day.
I have to admit I wasn't expecting the refund after reading the negative reviews, but in my experience I couldn't fault them!
I had a family account and cancelled…
I had a family account and cancelled the subscription before it was to renew. I got an email confirming the cancellation but they charged my credit card anyways, under my child's name! Then they couldn't find the charge and made me provide a ridiculous amount of info so they could find the charge. Unacceptable. It's not even resolved yet after constant emailing. I will never subscribe again

You emailed me a 50% off offer to subscribe to Calm and I sent a payment of £19.99 through Pay Pal only to find that I am still not subscribed. Frustratingly my wife who has Calm has supported me to send responding emails (Twice to you) but this has still not been addressed. The last one I sent requested a full refund because of my frustration so as you can see Calm is not where I am.

was NEVER notified of the upcoming charges & trying to cancel is like pulling teeth , don't do ANY business w/ calm , if any title of this co. needs to be changed to calm scam , waiting for reply to fix this & ready to call my bank to reverse the expensive charge of $69.99 for doing nothing but making me more angry
Beware of Calm
Beware of Calm. They offered 50% off of premium year membership. I decided to take them up on their offer. Unfortunately they charged my credit card the full amount. Their customer service is god awful and now I’m being told I have to go through Apple to get my refund. I am so sick of all the scams out there and companies doing nothing about it.
The opposite of Calm. Horrible customer service!
I never received an email about my subscription auto renewing. After it auto renewed, I politely requested a refund and that my subscription be canceled. Days later, I'm still waiting. I've emailed multiple times and only received automated responses that they're working on it and will get back to me. For an app promoting "calm," this is anything but. I'll be spreading the word far and wide to avoid this app because clearly they're not interested in spreading peace and well-being. They actually don't care about their customers at all. How ironic.
Just a few tiny changes…
Well I usually love most of this app and it has a lot of glorious and wonderful and beautiful and magical things in it, but the writers just…well, sometimes they just don’t use proper grammar. They sometimes can’t make a subject agree with a verb. I know I’m getting picky here, but one glaring bad grammar mistake just ruins the rest of a beautiful story for me. For example: “They ascend up the mountain.” You don’t need “up” in that sentence, it’s redundant. “They ascend the mountain” will do. Stephen Fry, who I love and adore, even read a couple of mistakes in the lavender story “Blue Gold” by Phoebe Smith, and I’m amazed he didn’t catch them. “But for many, simply strolling the fields can in themselves offer a kind of spiritual as well as physical journey” should read “But for many, simply strolling the fields can in itself offer a kind of spiritual as well as physical journey.” (“Strolling” is the subject there, and not “fields.”) One more: “a whole network of vibrant fields open out before you” should be “a whole network of vibrant fields opens out before you,” as the subject is “network” here, and not “fields.” Phoebe Smith’s otherwise perfectly beautiful story is marred by these slight grammatical oversights…and Stephen’s magical voice traps them on the recording forever…his musical intonations and Phoebe’s general use of language are otherwise beautiful and impeccable, with depth and expression that are absolutely unmatched. If I didn’t love this story so much I wouldn’t say anything…we all have room to improve, and certainly I myself could use vast improvements in just about everything…but when you love and listen to these stories as much as I do, (and they are really helpful to me besides), you want them to be as perfect as possible. I’m sure everyone at Calm wants that, too.
The worst example of grammar on the Calm app is Tamara Levitt’s frequent use of “as best as you can.” It’s either “as best you can” or “as well as you can” but NEVER “as best as you can.” Now all that to say, I love the amazing work Tamara brings to the table and her wonderful vast knowledge of many spiritual and useful subjects. I love her writing, and her magnificent spiritual presence on the recordings. She is a wonderful person. But for her to be using that phrase wrong just makes her sound like she wasn’t paying attention in class that day. Tamara! I love you! Please don’t say “as best as you can”! I want you to sound 100 percent like the star that you are!
Oh, and by the way, never use “equally as.” It’s redundant also. Use equally or as but not both and never right next to each other. “Equally good” or “as good” and you’ve done enough; never use both.
I could go on. I know I’m frightfully picky, but I LOVE this app and I love the sleep stories SO much, and I want them to shine in their magnificence like finely cut diamonds or Fabergé eggs. The occasional (and again, these are rare but they do happen and I notice them) glaring error could be resolved by a good proofreader. A second pair of eyes on your written work after the final draft is done is invaluable. (Note: a pair IS invaluable; that demonstrates the subject agreeing with the verb, right there. The verb does not need to agree with “eyes” in “of eyes” because “eyes” is not the subject.)
All that to say…I’m still giving this app five stars because I love it so much. Best seventy dollars a year I ever spent. I love Eric Braa’s voice too (the Halloween story is one of my favorites) and also I love the voices of Nimmy March, Alan Sklar, Eduardo Ballerini, and Emiko Susilo, just to name a few and along with so many others. I think I’ve listened to the Moss Temple story about a trillion times; it never gets old. I love the Calm app. Maybe I just expect a little more from all of you because you are such shining lights, each and every one of you. Hence my complaints about the grammar. Keep doing the wonderful work and thanks to all, and a special thank-you to Jeff Warren for bringing me to meditation. Again, many thanks to you all for bringing more peace into the world.
SCAM
SCAM! STAY AWAY- keep charging
I used this app back in 2021 and paid a premium membership for a year. Was not bad, not great, didn't renew.
SINCE THEN, I never used it again until September 2023, when I downloaded it again, as it was offered FOR FREE with American Express. But I never created an account and didn't intend to renew!
Guess what? I've been charged through my credit card without authorization!
I contacted the customer service and got no reply
Too much loud chatter
Too much loud chatter, the sleep stories kept me awake. One exception - Stephen Fry’s lullaby’s! I wish the whole app was Stephen Fry’s soothing voice.
