I've been a member of the club for over 50 years and it appears that having reached a good level of service, it's now in decline. What's more the prices now charged are far to high for what's suppose... See more

Our network of Club Sites stretches from the Cornish coast to the Scottish Highlands. It will always be the heart of our Club and offers consistently lovely camping wherever you go. You don’t need to be a member to stay, but there are great benefits to joining, like exclusive access to over 1,200 smaller, Certificated Sites, tucked away in spots from the quiet to the quite spectacular.

Wanted to book this site and consequently joined the Camping and Caravanning Club (CACC) after many years of just being a Caravan and Motorhome Club (CAMC) member (was never quite sure if I needed two clubs??).
I was nearly put off by recent reviews about “don’t waist your money”, noise and spacing. There is a 6 metre rule between pitches for fire safety but maybe some people don’t know what 6 metres is so maybe it would be a good idea to have a pitch marker diagram given on arrival (like CAMC do) and “encourage” it to be followed! That said, pitch markers do not accommodate the width of caravan+awning+car to maintain a 6 metre gap so maybe criticism is warranted. As for noise, yes there is a train line nearby and you hear trains but hey, how many campsites are totally noise free? Roads, airplanes, farm vehicles - you can’t get away from it all sometimes!! And noisy neighbours? Didn’t experience this but some people just don’t follow rules do they and remember that tents don’t contain noise like caravans and MHs do.
So does this Norwich site deserve negative criticism? Well not really other than the amenities block is somewhat under facilitated and what is there is in need of refurbishment, it is however kept very clean. The site itself is very pleasant and well cared for, the entry/exit barrier system is good (the main gateway is a bit tight though) and it’s a good location for Norwich city, coast and Broads. There’s no hard standings only grass pitches which, in the main, are reasonably level.
Did I waste my money? No, all in all this campsite and CACC fits the bill.
Awesome - just stayed at Keswick and despite the weather we had a great time paddle boarding and kayaking. The staff were all super friendly, well informed and very helpful. We'll be going back!
Just let people book something, can't even get the site to open utter waste of go money.
Recently joined this club and stayed for the first time with them at a site in Yorkshire. The site was lovely and clean and very quiet and we enjoyed our stay. My quibble is with the website, it’s just rubbish to navigate and desperately needs an upgrade. The club comes over as outdated and mainly for the elderly. This isn’t true, it’s great for families where we stayed. They just need to drag themselves into this century regarding their website.
First year of joining club, definitely the last year. What can I say but the sites are dreadful.
Well overpriced
Shower & toilet facilities shocking, so old fashioned tired & need rebuilding
Rude wardens so many rules, like been in a war camp
Small pitches, hard standing full of weeds
Shop didn’t even stock essentials like milk
So strict on 1pm entry ridiculous
Never again don’t waste your money, what a rip off 🤨
Paid nearly £600 for 15 nights in our own caravan!!!!!
Arrived at the Barnard Castle site our impression of the site is first class, showers, toilets are very clean, washing machine was very useful have a week on a THS, Wardens very helpful, we would definitely stay here again.
My husband Kev and I have been going to Clitheroe campsite over the last 4 years because we love it.Why? Because its a beautiful place in Lancashire and it was run by the most amazing couple Maureen and Stephen, who sadly passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago.Stephen was an amazing manager and so professional.Maureen you care about each and every person and and you show you care. What an amazing couple who were exactly what makes the site so fantastic. We cannot express how well loved you are by all the regular customers that keep coming back for more.Stephen you worked so hard and you were always there even when it was lashing it down. You made such a long lasting impression .We have loved every trip and you will be held forever in our hearts
I’ll start by saying I very rarely wrote negative reviews
But beware
I now remember why I didn’t renew my membership with this club , I opted to maintain the one membership with a rival club
Today I booked a one night stay at a club in order to join my brother who was travelling from Australia
I chose the option that said how many adults ( excluding concessions over 60, my husband is 64 so I excluded him )
My answer then was one, me, I’m 58 and my cost for one night was £41 which I paid
I’d been misled, On arrival at the Bala , Wales site today I was told the charge should have been £60 for one midweek night !!! My husband should’ve been included , the instructions are wrong
Unbelievable as I’d just left a site for £8pp
Apparently their computer system is being upgraded in November which will sort this
I’m giving one star as if travelled here to find out there system is wrong and really I should be a mind reader
Discussions with the site were futile , their hands are tied and they tried their best
Customer services phone line was the most inflexible I’ve ever encountered anywhere
I’m so glad I’m not part of this club and I decided at this late stage to move elsewhere
A 5 min drive and it’s £7.50pp/nt, Much better
Im saddened by the whole experience , now challenge the club motto , to me, at £60 a night stay you are the unfriendly club
Please read my other reviews. I’m usyally positive
We have been CCC members for 5 years, but in actual facts for longer than that since 2015 which brings us to 9 years. Our parents have been local CCC club members for over 60 years and their parents for over 40 years. So we are 3rd generation of loyal family/customers and I find myself wanting to write this review for the management who overlooks over customer service teams to do something. For the past 2 years the customer service desk that answers calls has deteriorated drastically. Most recent example, I called to pay off the holiday today (£250) and spoke to the representative and my goodness she was miserable! It’s a holiday that people buy of you, at least being polite wouldn’t go amiss. It was a very robotic, not interested, non-enthusiastic call, where she sounded more like as if I owe her the money and didn’t want to pay and she was doing me a favour by answering this call! There was no please, thank you. No manner skills at all. Sadly, this is now a common tendency, each time you call CCC customer service desk they sound rude and not interested. There is no passion for the job, there is no wanting to be great and provide a good service. I called couple of months ago to renew our membership and had the same attitude. I said to my husband that this is the last time wed be renewing with CCC if this is the way they treat renewals. The rep sounded like he wasn’t even happy for us to renew and was doing us a favour. Let me remind you, CCC strives and makes money on customers, and when one have zero customer service skills and an attitude, a lot of customers will just go. Where you lose one, the rest 100 will follow and then what?
Another example is how our parents felt when they called to make some changes to their booking, my goodness they have been spoken to as if they robed the CCC club. The are in their 80s so a little bit of respect would have been great. This is not acceptable in my opinion, and something is going wrong with the CCC services. Unless there is a hidden agenda by the management board to close all CCC sites or sell. Some of the clubs are now charging each use for WiFi (Cheddar Site). So one user is free and the rest of the family have to pay extra.
We renewed our membership this year, but after the way I was spoken to this morning and huge among of negative feedback from our family members we are going to be exploring other options for next year.
Terrible customer Service, had to cancel this years subscription. No empathy to our oldest dog having a stroke, so couldn’t get to our booking, called CCC to see if we could cancel, it was 7 days before the booking. The advisor said that we would lose our deposit, I wasn’t happy and she said that she would speak to a supervisor, she came back and said that on this occasion, we could move it to another week. So I hurriedly have her a date. Unfortunately a week leather, I remembered that we had a wedding the week that I booked. So called up and was advised that we couldn’t move the date again, even though it would be later in the same month. So cancelled the booking lost my deposit and cancelled my subscription. CCC do not have any empathy at all. Yes I lost £40. But they lost another £100! Plus our annual subscription. They need to rethink their strategy.
Thornhill camping and caravan club at goathland up on the moors is excellent if your looking for a peaceful place to rest your head. A short walk and you are in heartbeat country were heartbeat was filmed. Shops pubs and cafes are plentiful. The site has grass pitches and electric hookup. Space for about 6 caravans. Night time is so quiet and peaceful after a day out. Whitby and scarborough not too far away. We have been several times and love it here .
This lot offer discounts for being a member but when booking the prices are outrageous.
To many CC camping sites. We have just started camping and thought that this would be a good place to find quality camp sites. Searching Whitby area we only found about 2 sites offering all the amenities but loads of Certified sites which are in some cases just a field or have a few amenities. I am using Pitchup and campsites.co.uk as they offer a filter so you pick what amenities you want and it finds the sites in the area of your choosing. I could have saved £50 because I will hardly use the app for caravan and camping. Having said that the Certified sites are lovely but if you want chemical waste, electric hook up and a toiled block of a decent size then your choice seems to be very limited. I have since purchased a power station and solar panels so we will keep our membership and use it for weekends away. My apologies to C&C if I'm using the app incorrectly but the others are so easy to use and have more choice as far as I can see.
Don’t wast your money buying a membership. Sites are always full if you try book on the day which is no use if your just randomly touring. Also Major lack of sites in the north of Scotland. Phoned ahead to a site today as the website won’t allow you to book on the day after 2pm. Told they had space for me, turned up and felt like I got judged on my appearance, came up with an excuse saying the water is dodgy we might need to evacuate the site. Their manager was away to make a decision. I Said I would wait for the decision but they kept stalling saying there’s no point booking me in on the chance they close the site, just find somewhere else. Yet someone else just went in before me with a caravan. Had my membership two years now and only ever managed to get into one site on my travels.
Just attempted to book 2 nights in Braithwaite, we are members (never again)
They want £165 for two nghts in our motorhome !!!! Really???
I've been a member for about a year. The sites I've visited have been pretty good. Not as good as Caravan & Motorhome Club sites but not bad. The main issue I have is with the website. When you try to search for availability at a particular caravan site, if there's no availability, instead of saying "sorry there's no availability on these dates", you get a message that says, "This page isn’t working book.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk is currently unable to handle this request." This looks like a website error, rather than a "no availability" message, so you just keep trying over and over again. That is, until you eventually phone the booking line and they tell you it's actually what happens when there's no availability at a site - and they're trying to fix it - but haven't managed to do so and it's been happening for months! So yes, it's technically a website error, but not the type of error you think it is. It doesn't fill you with confidence, when an organisation that makes money through bookings has a dysfunctional booking system and can't fix it. In fact it shouts total incompetence.
I stayed for 3 nights at Rosemarkie Bay, with the Camping and Caravanning Club. The staff Andy, Graeme and his wife (so sorry I didn't remember your name, especially as we chatted before I left and you helped me with my membership!) were amazing, so friendly and set a really happy and fun atmosphere from the moment I arrived, they told me about the local eateries and places to visit, and were generally visible around the site, chatting and checking in to make sure everyone was OK. The facilities were clean and well maintained and the pitch size more than adequate. The views from the site itself were beautiful and it was great to be able to walk my dogs along the beach. I didn't get to see any dolphins but enjoyed the walk and the experience. I will definitely plan on visiting again.
Bought membership and received no membership number so could not use any services or book a site etc. Membership line was staffed by the most unhelpful people in the world. Refused to discuss the matter with me due to GDPR ! So now they have my £58 and I have nothing. Only option was to report the transaction to my card issuer as fraud. Do yourself a favour and just avoid at all costs. You might just as well take your £58 membership fee and use the notes to light your camp fire with. At least then you get the value of warmth for you money rather than nothing at all. Complete Wasters.
I have been a member of this club for many years, both with a tent at first and then a campervan. Last year I was coming down to my home in the south from a trip to Yorkshire and tried to book a club site on the way back. This was 3 months before the intended stay. The first 3 I tried were full at least for electric hook up pitches and I finally managed to get in on the fourth. This is not good enough in my view. The club has 730,000 members but only just over 100 club sites. This ratio is ridiculous and yet the club offer incentives to introduce friends to membership. It gets worse. The 730,000 does of course not include non members who can stay at club sites. A week or two ago,for the duration of our stays, we saw unattended caravans taking up pitches which could be used for touring. The club advertises "seasonal pitches" akin to having a static caravan. Club sites, however, when you can get on them, have been largely excellent and nearly all staff very friendly and helpful. Non members should never have equal ranking with members.
I flagged up that I had paid MORE than a non member for a holiday with the EXACT same details, and the c&c club were not prepared to reimburse me the difference. What exactly is the point of joining the camping and caravanning club in this case????
This is very disappointing and has inspired me to NOT renew any future memberships nor recommend anyone else amongst my caravanning and camping friends to join.
