Getting a refund might be achieved using this template.

I had the same problem as everyone else of being scammed for £39.90. I then received some legal advice and using the template below was promptly refunded. I sent my letter by email and also contacted my credit card provider to ensure no further payments are taken.
If you use this template it could produce a positive result but make sure to complain within 14 days of the day you signed up: -

........day .. ......... 2025

Dear Sir or Madam,

Reference: My payments using email ................at.......

On .....day ..th ............ 2025 I paid £5.95 for a single car-checking report.

Unfortunately on .........day ..th .......... 2025 you charged an additional £39.90 for a month’s subscription which I do not require. I do not need or want this service for the £39.90 payment.

In neither the case of the £5.95 payment or the £39.90 payment did you send a receipt or copy of your terms and conditions.

I received an email from you at ..:.. on ........day ..th .......... 2025 confirming that my account has been closed.

The contract was a distance or off-premises contract as defined by Regulation 5 of The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (“CCR”). Accordingly, pursuant to Regulation 29 of the CCR I am entitled to a cooling off period within which I can cancel the contract.

Pursuant to Regulation 30 of the CCR this cooling off period ends at the end of 14 days from the date the contract for the provision of services was entered into, being on or before ...day ..th ......... 2025.

Accordingly, I am exercising my right to cancel the contract within the cooling off period.

I therefore request a reimbursement of monies paid to date, being £39.90. Regulation 34 of the CCR states that my refund must be provided in full, without undue delay, and in any event within 14 days of the date of this letter, and using the same means of payment as used for the initial transaction.

I therefore look forward to receiving your reply within the next 14 days.

Yours Faithfully,

..................

Avoid they scam you for £39.90

Paid £5.95 to obtain a report only to be charged another £39.90 for a subscription service I did not sign up for. Why would anyone need this service? It’s a scam best to avoid using this service altogether.

DO NOT USE!

DO NOT USE! Changed my one star to a two star because I've been issued with a refund.

Paid £5.95 for a car check. Specifically didn't click to open an account or pay a subscription. 2 days later they took £39.90 from our card saying we'd clicked on a subscription. Lies! They are scammers.
