If I could give zero i would arranged for car via booking.com arrived at krackow Airport only to be asked for £200 English pounds for more insurance when i already paid for full insurance because my name and card number was not on the front of the card and embossed. 10 years ago English banks changed there cards and do not issue these anymore. Do not use cowboy and only trying to get more money I don't think they had a car

Would not recommend this company.

My payment was initially refused because my credit card showed only the initial of my first name — a common practice used by many banks. I provided full proof of identity, including my passport, driving licence, and banking app showing my full name.

The staff member was rude and dismissive and refused to proceed unless I purchased the company’s insurance at nearly three times the cost, despite me already having damage refund (excess) insurance purchased with the booking, covering this rental in Poland. As it was 1 a.m. and I was travelling with a child, I felt pressured into agreeing.

Once I agreed to buy their insurance, the same credit card was suddenly accepted, even though nothing about the card or name had changed. This felt like a tactic to force an unnecessary upsell and was highly unprofessional.

I am a business traveller and needed a car at short notice. I went online and found carfree.pl. Now before i start they had a few negative reviews, but also positive ones and CarFree had the vehicle I was looking for.

I required a 4 day rental in Krakow with a pick-up in the city (not airport). I entered my details, selected extra car insurance and got my tentative booking email to which I was required to reply to confirm by return email (this I actually did twice!).

Patryk the customer services representative started professionally and emailed me stating that an 'E Premium' car was not available in Krakow city until 11.30am that day, but I could go collect one from the airport (which I didnt want to do).

I asked Patryk whether he could expedite a car transfer (E Premium) from the airport to the city centre office and if possible do so by 10am at the latest (as I had last minute time-sensitive commitments).

I then received an email from Patryk stating that I could indeed receive my car by 08:00am from the city office, which was a welcome surprise. However, I then received an email asking to confirm my booking by email which I had already done, so did this yet again.

The time was now around 08:00am so I prepared to head to the office in Krakow city to get my vehicle; arriving there around 08:40 am. Once I found the office, I was told that no booking had been received and indeed if I wanted the E Premium car I would have to wait until around 11:30 am (I'm now hopping mad as I just took an Uber to their office!?!?!?!). To further add insult the CarFree office said i would have to book locally would cost at least 30% more than the online price (which had been reasonable and not cheap in the first place).

The Krakow office then told me that their so called 24h office closed at 20:00 hrs on Sunday, so I would need to return the car by then, even though i had rented until 22:00 hrs. At that point I just stood up and left the CarFree office.

Before CarFree attempt to defend themselves, I have all business emails and correnspondence which I will happily share / screenshot.

Basically, this rental started out great and professional and ended as a disaster, wasting my time, cash for an Uber and movements around Krakow. Ultimately, I took an Uber which was less than optimal.

I think CarFree have the capability to be a decent rental company, but what started out well descended into a disaster with ZERO effort, or clear communications to recover a potential rental from a full paying business customer!!

UPDATE: Later the same day they offered to bring the car to my location, but by then it was too late. Told them to shove it where the sun doesnt shine!

Very friendly and helpful staff. The cars are new, very well maintained and clean. The rental price is always quite reasonable even with full insurance coverage. I've rented cars with this company at different airports through Poland and they have always offices near the arrival terminal and the cars are never located far away (which is very important during Polish winters)

I had an amazing experience with Carfree Rent in Gdansk Airport overall. The service was excellent, there were no hidden costs, and everything was very transparent. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and professional, and the whole rental process was smooth and easy from start to finish.

There was just one small hiccup when I went to collect the car. It was very cold and there was a lot of snow on 4 January, and the first car I was given was not working. The car had been parked in the car park since 23 December, so it was understandable, but it did cause a short delay while another vehicle was arranged.

Despite this, the team handled the situation well and made sure I got a working car, and I really appreciated their support in such cold conditions.

Overall, I am very satisfied with Carfree Rental and would happily recommend them for their honesty, great customer service, and smooth rental experience.

I did used carfree second time and yet again I wasn’t disappointed. Nice quick service from the guys on the Wroclaw airport and also no problems when I returned the car. I do strongly recommend carfree.

They were able to provide me a car just before Christmas when other company failed, so they kind of saved me and im very grateful for that 👍but little bit strange was a car washing charge 👎

THE CAR RENTAL COMPANY THAT INVENTED A NEW WAY TO CHARGE CLIENTS EXTRA- I am adding a new post to my previous one about CARFREE rental company.

Do Not Use This Company!!! The are money hungry like no rental company

I have ever come across. And in case you have a financial argument with them, they will not only get back what they think is theirs through the car broker but they will also refuse to take the car back from you at the airport and they will keep charging you for renting the car for a couple of days despite the fact that you left the car with them at the airport car parking already and the car keys are already in the hands of car rental company employee - this is what I have been told by one CAREFREE employee.

I do not know if this is legal but I would not be surprised if this company would loose all their clients in the future..

everything was fine, except clear direction to the car returning spot

I rented a Toyota 9 seater van from CarFree. Both pick up and return were smooth and without fuss. I would use them again.

Everything went smooth. Nothing to complain about. Car was clean and new. Staff was nice and professional.
