Hello Joanna, I'm sorry that you feel we have been lacking in responding to you. We are a very small team of only 6 members of staff to make, pack, dispatch and sell all our products be it through wholesale or, as is the case with your order, via parcel service. We really do try to get things sent as quickly as possible but sometimes that may take a week or more due to all sorts of day to day demands. We are not one of the Amazons of the world hence we do clearly state on the website that it can take 10 days to receive your items. We deliberately don't bombard customers with updates on every step of the order as we know that every email sent has an impact on energy use in the ether, albeit tiny! We simply send the confirmation of order email then the goods themselves. All that said I'm pleased to say your order is packed and will be with you on Wednesday.

I had some problems ordering on the…
I had some problems ordering on the website (possibly due to security software). Their mixed seed butter is one of my staples but my local organic shop doesn't keep it in stock, while my wife wanted to get some roasted hazelnut butter. I 'phoned up and had the goods 2 days later in good order, packed with reused materials. Very happy with that.

consistently excellent
My son has to eat different types of nut butters to ensure he doesn’t develop an allergy and Carley’s has been consistently excellent - we order a new batch every few months. I am also allergic to some nuts and unlike other manufacturers I have found no evidence of cross contamination in their products. Also love their ecological commitment and general ethos.

Unsurpassable quality and taste. I'm a fan for life!
I first discovered Carley's last summer when I discovered their tahini: it continues to be the best tahini I'd ever tasted. It has a luxurious quality and as a vegan it's a great alternative to dairy butter. I've since ordered lots of different nut butters and more tahini from them and I think they're unsurpassable in quality and taste. Plus it delights me that they're a family in Cornwall. I'm a fan for life xxx

Bitter taste. No response from customer service
I bought 6 jars of the Almond Butter from a retailer but the one I opened was bitter, tasting like apricot kernels. The retailer refunded the unopened jars but said the manufacturer would deal with the opened one. Carleys asked me for the relevant jar details which I emailed several weeks ago. No response. I sent a reminder but still absolute silence. I resent having spent nearly £10 to throw away a product which tastes horrible.

Dangerous product
I have already contacted the company but they ignored advances.
Avoid the almond butter at all costs. Fourth jar in a row that contained harmful stones. Thought maybe from 1 or 2 jars I could let it slide. However, happened with two jars from myself and then my in-laws also experienced the same in two separate jars.
Having young children means I won't buy this again. I emailed them for assurances that it was a stock issue or similar but no reply at all. Now to try and find something of the same taste quality but higher food standards.

I’m sorry that you are finding almond shell in the Almond Butter, whilst it quite uncommon, it is a comment we very occasionally receive but we appreciate that biting on nut shell is quite unpleasant and would certainly be a risk if fed to small children
When the almonds are prepared they are cracked then sorted using a variety of techniques, (air cleaning, sieving, gravimetric destoning, optical colour sorting, visual sorting on belts.) With all of the best possible efforts however it is impossible to guarantee a 100% shell free product. Our suppliers are very clear on this in the specifications that we receive.
The technologies are improving all the time and we have certainly noticed that all ingredients are coming in to us cleaner year on year. We buy from a wide variety of growers in Spain, Italy (Sicily) and the batches do vary of course, as with any natural product.
We visually scan constantly whilst we are making the all of our butters but of course cannot 100% guarantee to find every piece.
As you will appreciate the almond nut shells are often virtually identical in colour to the nuts themselves.
We do make a comment on all relevant labels declaring this, unfortunately with all of our best efforts it would be impossible to guarantee a shell free butter.
I appreciate that you may be a bit put off nut butters at the moment but I would be happy to send you a jar of something by way of apology if you were able to send us your postal address?

We take on board your comments about the leaflet though, these were donated to us from a local energy group who are involved with lots of climate emergency projects (as are we) but the affiliation with Tescos is definitely theirs- NOT ours!
