🚗 VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with Car Motion in Sicilia 🚗

Misleading initial price - what you think you're paying for the car rental **DOUBLES** with mandatory extras they don't explain clearly.

Insurance policy **unclear from the start** - they confuse you with coverage options and force you to pay more without prior notice.

They tried to charge us **€500 extra** for scratches that were **just dirt** (I have photos proving it). We cleaned it clearly with Clínex wipes right in front of the employee and finally he understood we'd **already paid for the extra coverage**.

✅ **Advice**: If you use Car Motion, **INSPECT THE ENTIRE CAR with witnesses and photos of every scratch before signing**. And **above all** clarify the **extra insurance** from minute 1.

Rented a car in Palermo office for…

Rented a car in Palermo office for three days. I did buy a very expensive full kasko insurance to avoid issues.
When I showed up they told me that a fee of 42 Euro extra will apply if any damage occurs (so way we pay a full kasko?). They charge 18 euros to clean the car upon return which is simple ridiculous!!!! Never seen before. I told the guys that I will not take the car if they want me to pay the cleaning. They said that I would have been charge only if is very dirty inside, but not for the outside.when I return the car guess what? They charged 18 Euros!!!! Simply ridiculous, never more

⚠️ Well-organized scam at Catania Airport – Avoid Car Motion at all costs!

I booked a car through EconomyBookings and arrived on time at Car Motion Catania with all required documents and a valid credit card.
The staff told me that the €1500 deposit “could not be blocked.”

I immediately called my bank, who confirmed that no authorization attempt had ever been made. In other words, they never even tried — it’s just an excuse.

Then came the “solution”: they offered me their own overpriced insurance, costing several hundred euros, so that I could “avoid the deposit.”
It’s pure blackmail — either you buy their extra insurance, or they refuse to give you the car and keep your money.

When I refused to fall for this scam, they still took copies of my ID card, driving licence, and credit card, without providing any service or refund.

After checking online, I found dozens of other travelers describing the exact same experience at this location: fake deposit refusals, pressure to buy useless insurance, and refusal to release the vehicle.

These are dishonest and deceptive business practices, completely against European consumer protection laws. I have reported Car Motion and EconomyBookings to the European Consumer Centre, as well as to national authorities (DGCCRF / AGCM).

👉 My advice: stay far away from Car Motion Catania.
Even if the price looks good, you’ll risk losing your money, wasting your time, and handing over personal documents to people you can’t trust.

Choose a reliable company instead (Locauto, Sicily by Car, Europcar, Hertz, etc.). They may cost a bit more, but at least they are transparent and professional.

🚫 Car Motion Catania = fake deposit, forced insurance scam, and zero honesty. Avoid this place like the plague!

Great experience

The staff in Palermo and at the Palermo airport location were friendly, efficient and helpful. When I had questions during my trip, I received a quick response through WhatsApp. By far, the best car rental experience I’ve had in Sicily. I would use them again.

Sneaky and unprincipled - avoid

Sneaky and unprincipled.

Told me that I needed to wash the car on return if "very dirty"; there was a small amount of road dust, not least from their parking lot, and they charged €25.

They send me a WhatsApp message saying the car was due back at 16:00 - I'd thought it was sooner, but I accepted what they said.

Then they said it was a "mistake" and billed me €120 late fee (which I will dispute with MasterCard).

Finally, they claimed that a tiny scratch requires €250 to fix - are they getting Michaelangelo to paint it?

I can't even see it.

Avoid.

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs. Our experience was nothing short of a nightmare at Catania airport

The staff were rude, dishonest, and clearly out to squeeze as much money as possible from unsuspecting customers. They forced us into buying unnecessary insurance, costing us an extra €600, even though the office was open and we could have simply returned the car. Later, they tried to claim we had caused damage to the vehicle something that was completely untrue. Thankfully, I had taken both photos and video before and after the rental, which proved the car was returned in the same condition.

To make matters worse, the worker behaved unprofessionally, hiding from us when confronted instead of addressing the issue. It was obvious this was a setup to justify the insurance charges.

Car Motion in Catania is a crooked company that lies and cheats customers. They refuse to refund our money, and it’s clear this is how they operate. Save yourself the stress and financial loss and rent from a reputable company instead.All they did was lie from start to finish.

Avoid Car Motion Palermo

Avoid Car Motion Palermo – Scam.
They try to maximise profit by charging hidden fees. Since the agency is far from the airport, you cannot really argue — you have a flight to catch and no taxis come there. It’s basically a scam. Better avoid this company altogether.

Avoid this car rental company at all costs. Like the other reviews say they are con artists and will hit you with bogus fees. They take a $500 deposit and then they will “discover” enough flaws with the car and hit you with enough bogus fees to magically add up to the entire $500. Will find bogus scratches and complain that the inside is not clean even though we wiped the car down for about an hour before we returned it and it was perfect. Will have to take legal action against them - use any other company. OH also they will charge you extra for using a debit card, probably because they are sad they can only hit you with $500 in fees at the end if you use debit.

Terrible experience after paying $2000

Terrible experience after paying $2000
And was late to pick up the car because our flight was delayed we got charged an extra $1400 to get the car with full insurance and told that we would not have to pay anything if there was any damages.
Upon returning the car they found a tiny scratch on the wheel and was told we need to pay extra fees and car wash fees.
Very disappointed with this company and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Just NEVER book your car with car…

Just NEVER book your car with car motion. They are not friendly, the service is poor, they search forever for the tiniest scratch in the car, charge your double the price for cleaning the car then they said in the beginning and charge you additional fees when giving the car back. We paid double the price then we agreed on. Worst experience ever. Just don’t book your car with them. Also they installed the child seat completely wrong which was negligent.

A con. Rented a car from car motion it had multiple small scratches. Returned it in exactly the condition we rented it in and they spent ages trying to find even the most minor damage. Was able to provide photographs proving the damage was pre existing. eventually they found what they claimed was damage ona door sill which I hadn't photographed on collection but was pre existing. When I objected the manager went out and couldnt find the damage but still tried to make me sign a form to say we had damaged the car. When I refused, because we hadnt damaged the car, she and her colleague tried shouting and even threatened to and then pretended to call the police, obviously no police came, beware.

We payed almost triple the price

We payed €270 online with insurance covered. When we arrived they told us we HAD to insure the car for €490 because we payed by Visa Debit and not creditcard. After we payed this amount we had to give another €250 that we would get back at the end of the trip. Overall the experience was horrible. Staff was friendly but that’s it. In total we payed almost €800 for a small Seat for 6 days. I would not reccomend this company!!!!

Company of very poor commercial ethics.

They persuaded me to desist of a booking I made of their car through an intermediary by lying that this money it could be claimed back from the intermediary.

They assured me that they did not receive any payment of the previous booking and they would not because they rejected to rent the car under the name of that driver (age issued), which in any case, it could have been solved by changing the name of the driver but they refused to do so. While at the same time they offered and convinced me to rent the very same car for which I have already paid.

I paid almost twice the price – the intermediary confirmed that CARMOTION are who refused to refund the money of the previous booking that ended in their pocket. THEY TREATED ME VERY DISHONESTLY.

Moreover, when returning the car they had a very intimidating attitude trying to endorsing me old scratches of the car. So careful with this, makes your pre videos and subsequent.

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with carMotion’s customer service. I called to rent a car, but the person who answered the phone was extremely rude and uninterested. They repeatedly told me they were busy and that I should call back at another time. I received no assistance and was unable to book the car I needed. Such behavior is unacceptable for a company that should be providing professional and customer-oriented service. I definitely won’t be recommending carMotion to anyone and will be taking my business elsewhere for car rentals.

Worst experience of my life

I've already used a lot fo times the car rental services around the world but the last car location was the worst experience with this service.
The Car Rental Company -(Car Motion), does not have the minimum condition to attend the customer.
Picking up the vehicle, on the day the rental began, took 2.5 hours for the employee to be able to deliver the vehicle to me. Person with no experience, no training and completely unprepared to serve the public. My wife and I spent 2.5 hours waiting for him to resolve my credit card reservation and in the end he had to call another person to resolve the problem. Rentcars should better select the companies that provide services so that the consumer is not penalized and goes through the embarrassing situation to which my wife and I were submitted.

Outstanding Service

These guys were on time, friendly and very understanding when we returned the car without refilling the gas, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, including our choice of car seat for carting our 5-year-old all around Sicily. I have already recommend Car Motion to our friends headed there next August.
