Awful company, wish I never purchased their kit

Wish I never purchased their kit, it's a average at best barrow - I've had to make loads of mods to make it sturdy enough to use properly. I ordered to items that were no good to use, so asked to return them. Their customer service is abysmal, truly awful.. so far I've sent 3 emails & rang 5 times, I've received an email saying someone will contact me after they've reviewed my request?? The boxes weren't opened. Do yourself a favour & avoid this company at all costs..I've put my barrow out for the scrap merchant

Carp Porter up and running again.

There were some supply issues a few weeks ago and I heard that the company had recently undergone a change of ownership. Things seem to have improved now though and my item (fat boy conversion kit for Mk2 Carp Porter barrow) came back into stock and was delivered on time with no issues.
The new wheel and forks are a perfect fit and although heavier, do make my standard Mk2 feel more stable.
The trade off though is that it feels slightly less nimble and has more rolling resistance than the standard skinny wheel.
Although the actual Mk2 Fat Boy is a more solid barrow with its wide wheel, larger frame and strengthened handles, it's sadly also much heavier and bulkier and I found the added crossbar made the handles a hassle to remove and so often just left them on when packing in the car.
By adding the wide wheel to the slightly smaller and much lighter standard Mk2, I feel I get the best of both worlds.
Carp Porter make some great products and it's good to see them back on track.

Arrogant attitude after failure to deliver item promised as in stock

I had wanted to place an order for a power conversion for my Mk2, plus a tri porter conversion kit. So, I contacted Carp Porter Directly to check on stock availability, and was informed that although the green kit I wanted wasn't in stock, they did have the DPM kit, and advised I could buy a separate small bag in the colour I wanted. So, no problem, £1000 order placed, with confirmation it was in stock. Order arrived today, no power conversion kit, so I called to find out why, after they promised it was in stock, only part of my order was delivered. I was then told that the items had arrived this week, but were still being put together, and they do not ship on a Friday. When |I then forwarded the email where they confirmed they had the item in stock, I was then told someone had bought the last one moments before I placed my order, they had to make more, and that again it would be shipped Monday as they do not ship on Fridays. I gave up in frustration, said they could collect the order they had delivered and refund me. That's when the arrogance started. "It doesn't work like that" I was repeatedly informed. I would have to return the partial order at my own cost, which they would not refund, and when I questioned that I was told to go read their terms and conditions. Luckily I placed the order via my credit card, so am insured against this kind of arrogant nonsense, but if I was Danny Fairbrass I'd probably want to know how my team were treating my customers and their orders. I've used my Carp Porter for years, but will look at the other powered options given this experience and give another company the $1000 I would have spent here. Use them at your own risk, but do be cautious, and do not take their web site, or indeed reassurances from them directly that they actually have these items in stock.

Great pieces of kit.

Having owned the Xtreme power porter for a few years with little to no issues, I called the office to request some assistance and a couple of new parts. Jack was exceptionally helpful and sent the parts the next day. Would recommend and will use again.

5 star customer service

5 star customer service. A weld failed on my porter-lite, 1 call to Carp Porter and 1 email later the new parts were on their way. If you are thinking of getting a new barrow..choose Carp Porter all the parts are available seperatly and they do everything they can to ensure your hapy and your barrow is working as it should.

Think before you buy a power porter

I have the mk7 power porter, now don't get me wrong I really rate the barrow. Its easy to use and so powerful that you can use it fully loaded with one hand.
The problem lies when you need spare parts... they are out of stock... at first I needed new wheels so I bought some of the puncture proof ones. When they arrived it was apparent that they had changed the design and the new ones wouldn't fit, instead of a refund they gave me 2nd hand bushes to try and get mine working. It didn't work and they advised that I would now need new legs to put the new wheels on, the legs were out of stock and i would have to wait to get new feet so I can try my new wheels. That was 9 months ago and still no feet in stock but they are selling new barrows with said feet fitted.
Now the cross bar has broken on the back legs (the welds gave up), £34.99 to fix, great!! No not in stock yet again!
So for the £1000 I gave for my barrow it only lasted 2 years so please think about this before spending so much on one.

I have the power porter mk6

I have the power porter mk6, great machine as in the amount of stuff you can get on it and its easy to use. But overpriced and build quality not the best. Only had the barrow nearly 3 years not used every week either and already welding on the rear wheels has failed. Not what i expect from a barrow which costs nearly £1000

Fat Boy Mk2 Power Extreme

My front wheel punctured on my Fat Boy Mk2 Power Extreme. I popped down to the workshop to purchase a new inner tube and the lads there were only too happy to help.
They took in the wheel assembly fitted the new tube and re-assembled it all for £20 as I know this job can be a real pain and needs more than two hands.
I’ve got to agree with the previous reviews from the 70yr olds that this has been the best piece of kit I have ever bought, it’s fantastic

Fantastic bit of kit!

I’ve now had my Big Boy Extreme Power Porter for a month and I am overjoyed with it. My first trip out was to the Reservoir at Braxted one of our club waters. Iris on a farm complex and is around 1/3 of a mile from the car park to the furthest swim via a very steep hill. This has always put me off as I physically couldn’t push a barrow up there. The ‘Big Boy’ went up like a dream, fully loaded also tackling the path along the lake which is used by tractors - Brilliant!!
The second trip was a water that has a nice downward slope to the lake and then a 10 minute slog around to the furthest swim. Coming back at the end of a long day and hitting the slope with a full load is enough to put you off fishing. The barrow glides up easily and means I can actually breath when I get to the car!
Yesterday we had an overnight at this lake which takes two trips with the day gear and Bivvie, bed food etc. No problem at all even in 26° - a walk in the park.
I am 70 and my two fishing mates who also have the Big Boy Extreme power barrows are mid 70s, and we all agree that we couldn’t get to over half of the waters without them. This is not only the best fishing aid ever it is an investment in your health.
Well engineered.
Great design
Fantastic Product !!!

Spent over £325 on a barrow package for it to arrive and not steer straight
Bent handles and curves like a banana
Emails were ignored until I threatened PayPal then had a response
Tried swapping the wheels around as suggested but still no good
Started again ignoring emails so PayPal case opened
Terrible company will never ever recommend them to anyone or ever buy from them again!
