Carplunk is a scam they offer me valuation of my car and they asked me to pay £ 50 for booking and I did pay them. Then they stop contacting me since that.
I received several offers for my car from various reputeable agents, Carplunk offered a better than expected price and took 50 pounds to make sure I was in for the viewing appointment. Refund was promised at the appointment. I checked on a scam site and found no reason not to at least get my car valued. They didn't turn up of course and bye bye £50 as they seem to have dissapeared. DONT DO IT! I have informed police, trading standards and my bank.
Shocking scam!!
They have now closed the website down no reply to any emails to get my £50 deposit back, reported to the bank and police.
Stay away this is shocking what people do to make money out of hard working people who just looking to sell there car without the hassle.
Never again do it the old fashioned way for sure.
This company messages you and invites you to input very basic car details.
You will then get a text the next day, offering just below what you asked for on the form.
The next step is to go to the website and book your appointment. Wherever you are, and whenever you choose, Peter Wallsley will apparently be coming to see you.
HERE IS THE SCAM!!! To confirm your booking, they ask for a £50 deposit. DO NOT PAY THIS!!! They are not genuinely interested in your car, they want your £50 and you won't get anything in return.
Listed my car on Gumtree and I received a text from Carplunk.co.uk, offered me a very good price for my car, just below asking price, which immediately seemed suspicious, as is unusual for a business. Booked an appointment for 1 weeks time.. only confirmation I got was on their website.. no email or text. I tried emailing them to confirm the appointment but never received a reply. They never turned up on the time and date agreed and I have no other form of contact for them other than the email address I have already tried..
Claim to have sold over 22'000 cars last month - as per their website, but company was only incorporated on 22/07/16.
Don't bother responding to their texts, as all they do is waste your time.
