Make it right, lost 105USD
Hitch teams, this indiegogo campaign is a TOTAL SCAM.
I supported the project for a bottle costing 105USD (70 initially and 35USD for additional costs) in 2020, and the high end product is no where in sight.
Product was sent yet tracking links arrived too late so I wouldn’t even know when to expect delivery (email sent late in the night for the morning). That’s poor service to begin with. Top it off with no answer from the delivery carrier or Hitch to re-deliver, that’s a dead end for the customer.
More than 7 messages left unanswered, customer service basically went silent.
I am frustrated after many many messages and apparently the company often gets shipping wrong. Other customers like me post repeated messages publicly to ask for refund or getting their bottle right so we’re in this together. But I wish I hadn’t bought it, the bottle cannot be worth the frustration.
UPDATES - Show more respect and professionalism since :
- How I am supposed to follow up a package when tracking link is sent after delivery ? Mail was sent on December 29th when delivery attempt was on December 28th (based from DHL info, but delivery never happened)
- More than 5 emails and 7 comments on the indiegogo page were posted when Project manager admittedly posted publicly my emails were in spam.
My review stands after Hitch’s comment in bad faith.

Costs don’t add up
3rd update: I’ve been contacted by trust pilot for the 3rd time asking me to send even further documentation as hitch are still trying to delete my comment. DO NOT TRUST THESE 4 STARS. They are systematically going through and trying to delete all negative reviews.
Further update: as expected hitch tried to get my comment removed!
UPDATE: I am not questioning the transparency. I am questioning the ridiculous amount of money I was held ransom to pay for additional shipping costs. I sent a large parcel to the US only 2 days ago and that cost me £15 yet I was asked to pay an addition $79 on top of my $20 I had already paid for shipping.
The $20 for shipping I had originally paid has been kept by hitch even though this wasn’t a contribution to backing the product. The amount of money hitch has made on shipping costs is the scam. This at least should be refunded to backers as essentially it’s theft.
Ordered 2 bottles back in 2020 and what a mistake that was. Paid the money and I have nothing to show for it. It included shipping and yes due to the pandemic costs change but then I was asked to pay more than my initial payment + original shipping just to cover the additional shipping fees. In no changed world will this ever make sense. Scam. I’ve not paid the additional cost and got great bottles off Amazon free next day delivery (cupple) which was less than the hitch additional shipping costs and from looking at hitch feedback, they are better anyway.
After reading other reviews, Im waiting for the passive aggressive response from hitch or the attempt to have mine comment removed. I was a paying customer and although I don’t have the product, this comment is about hitch as a company.

Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. I ordered and paid 3 bottles, but never received them.

Appalling customer service and in breach of T&Cs
Responding to reply: Thank you for responding. I have always sympathised with the difficulties you faced. But to confirm, you are saying that there is no other way you could "MAKE EVERY EFFORT to deliver a perk reward for your donation when we could" other than for met to pay $108 (+VAT?) on a $139 initial contribution? I do not think this a particularly "extraordinary" request.
Hitch have appalling customer service and an absolute disregard for the money invested by crowdfunding backers. They have displayed zero understanding or compassion by going to fund significantly behind where they estimated they were in the manufacturing process (delivery claimed for September 2020 with fulfilment only beginning for my 'group' in early 2023.
The consequence was they needed to request significant additional funds. They have rejected the following suggestions:
1) I asked if they could cancel my order and refund part of the original amount, less any administrative costs. Many crowdfunding projects offer this should costs escalate, deducting roughly 15% for admin. This was refused as my order for 3 units had "has already been placed and paid for with our manufacturers" (email 28/09/2022). This goes against what had been said about 'you are not pre-ordering a product' per T&Cs.
2) I asked if they could reallocate these 3 units to retail stock and refund these once they had been sold at profit. This was refused as they "are unable to resell backer units", even though they had "manufactured the amount needed" and "will not have extra" (meaning either they haven't ordered 3 units with the manufacturer and could issue a partial refund if they desired or that they will have 3 unallocated units that they could reallocate if they so chose).
3) I asked if they could send me fewer units, so that what they send would not be below cost price and they would not lose any money, and neither would I. Based on their retail sales price, $139 would still turn a profit on an order of 2 units (not to mention the 3rd unit, which would be reallocated and sold at retail). This was also refused.
The only solution offered has been to find and pay an additional $125 or lose my $139 pledge.
Hitch have acted in breach of Indiegogo's Terms and Conditions and ceased responding to emails as soon as this was pointed out - something also in breech of Indiegogo T&Cs.
In requesting an additional $125 over my original $139 pledge, without offering any alternative, I believe the parts they have fallen short of are:
- When a project is successfully funded, the creator must complete the project and fulfill each reward. Once a creator has done so, they’ve satisfied their obligation to their backers.
- If a creator is unable to complete their project and fulfill rewards, they’ve failed to live up to the basic obligations of this agreement. To right this, they must make every reasonable effort to find another way of bringing the project to the best possible conclusion for backers.
- they work diligently and in good faith to bring the project to the best possible conclusion in a timeframe that’s communicated to backers;
- they offer to return any remaining funds to backers who have not received their reward (in proportion to the amounts pledged), or else explain how those funds will be used to complete the project in some alternate form.
Indiegogo have suggested I pursue legal action.

The best water bottle I’ve ever purchased
I bought this water bottle for me partner and she uses it every single day. She commutes for work and the sleek water bottle and coffee tumbler in one design is awesome and key.
Unfortunately, we lost the tumbler, but the people at Hitch were super responsive and quick to get us set up with another one. Their customer support is great and they have a customer for life. If you are looking for a sweet design and an amazing water bottle, this is it, hands down.
I’ve ordered 3 times from Hitch
I’ve ordered 3 times from Hitch, twice for gifts, and had zero issues. Bottle cup combo works just as advertised, and especially with an on the go lifestyle, is very convenient. Being so easily cleanable is a big plus too.
I got the hitch as a gift
I got the hitch as a gift. While boating I dropped the cup and lid in the water. My fault. I wrote hitch and in about a week they sent me a replacement. As to the product, it’s great for keeping soups and hot cocoa warm and the built in cup is perfect, just not if your leaning over the railing while sailing
I use this bottle and cup everyday
I use this bottle and cup everyday. I love everything about the design, how it looks and how it functions. I never forget my coffee cup any more and I get compliments on it daily. Highly recommend.
Ordered a Hitch Bottle and Cup Kit
Ordered a Hitch Bottle and Cup Kit, and have been using it daily at the office and my trips to the coffee shop. It fits perfect in my bag, and totally saved me from using paper cups or forgetting my cup at home. Fast delivery, nice customer service too.
This company is a SCAM!!
This company is a total SCAM!!! Don’t waste your money! My husband and I each ordered one because it seemed like a unique product. Number 1: it doesn’t keep your water cold or your coffee hot. Who wants warm water and cold coffee? Number 2: it’s the tiniest bit of water and coffee. Who drinks such a small amount? Number 3: they don’t offer any refund if you try their product. How do you know if you like it or if it works the way they claim? $134 down the drain and they haven’t refunded us and kept our cups. Thieves!!
Now, they want more information or they will remove my review. Just like a company to delete a review that doesn’t favor their product. Watch out!
Not allowing a customer to try the product with such a steep investment robs them of the right to test whether it performs the way it should. It also relives the company of any responsibility to create a quality product. It is unethical!
Refund my money! I returned the product because it doesn’t perform and you haven’t refunded my money. What awful customer service!
Now they have flagged my review as being fake. I have all the documentation to prove it’s definitely not. They play dirty!
It’s been 2 months and they haven’t refunded my money. They have the cups I returned. I will be reporting this theft to the police!

Can't trust a thing they say
I backed this company about three years ago. Payed the extra shipping and costs because I understood with COVID prices for everything went up. Although $40 to ship two bottles seems excessive. Anyway, after getting my tracking and it not updating for over a month I finally reached out to them and was told it was lost in transit which seems to be VERY common for them. They said they would send out another set but it has still been over a month with no shipping info. This has got to be a scam. Seems like the only people that get it are influencers of some kind, and that is only so they can promote it.

They treat their customers like sh(i)t.
Exactly 3 years ago I contributed to this so-called campaign.
I still haven’t seen a hint about their bottle.
This is a nasty joke!
I thought about buying the damn bottle as a gift to my family, but instead, I recommend anyone to stay away from this scam of a store.
It’s too frustrating dealing with them.
Most of the time they do not reply to emails and do not take responsibility for their lack of professionalism.
They treat their customers like sh(i)t.

Bad experience
*This is a modified review after extensive dialogue with carryhitch.com*
This may well be a great product. I will never know because once my item was ready for shipment, those of us in the initial order batches were asked to pay more money to cover additional costs of shipping. I felt this was bad faith and refused.

Worst company I've dealt with
This company are awful. Backed them on Indiegogo and hugely regret this! Never in my life have I encountered a company receive an overwhelming amount of support and then hold products to ransom until the backer pays £30 -£40 more for postage costs which were already supposed to be covered in further payments we had ALREADY made.
The product was delayed by years, the company refuse to offer assistance unless you pay more, and they don't have any kind of care for those that backed them. They then decide to charge less shopping through their website but maintain that they can absorb some costs by taking more from backers to allow people on their site to pay a bit less.
Avoid them like the plague - even the reviews of the bottles are awful.
Update: Hitch responded to my review below and if just like to point out that where they have stated they were ‘transparent’ with extra costs, I can say that they were transparent once they required materials but I’m not saying that - it’s the fact that so much was suddenly requested from backers many months after the products were due.

Love my Hitch
I use my Hitch every weekend and vacation time. This thing has been used everywhere and has not let me down, be it hot drinks or cold drinks. My wife has her own Hitch and she says the same. We wont travel without them. I know there were delays and costs on the Kickstarter campaign but we held out and so glad we did.
A great idea, an awful breach of ‘terms of use’ on Indiegogo
I hate giving 1 star reviews but this experience deserved it.
Back pre-COVID pandemic (2019) I was one of the many many people who backed the Indiegogo campaign for Hitch. I backed the idea for sure, and paid for the perk of two bottles for almost £100. This was expected to be shipped within a couple of months according to the company.
Fast forward to a few months later and the pandemic hit and I contacted the team to ask if we would definitely receive our perks. The team seemed friendly and willing to help and swiftly informed me all backers will receive their perks (I have two emails reassuring me we definitely will be receiving our perks).
Later into the pandemic, Hitch emailed everyone stating they would need some people to pay more as the price of everything had gone up. I obliged, thinking this was a fair point and paid a little more.
Fast forward about two years after I’d backed the campaign and Hitch were advertising their products on an official website, selling the products officially. Yet they were still emailing backers to say about another increase in shipping costs and more delays. By this point, they’d sent out products to Group 1 and Group 2 of their backers, and I was in Group 3. The others groups hadn’t had to absorb any of these costs, but the rest of us were going to have to. Even worse was that half of Group 3 had now been sent their order and Hitch decided the remainder of Group 3 would need to pay an increase in shipping (totalling to a further $79USD in my case). I informed them I would not be doing this and would like my money back as this was really taking the biscuit. Unfortunately Hitch sent me a little bit of a patronising email explaining how Indiegogo works (which I’m fully aware) and that I’d only backed an idea. Hey told me essentially I pay the increase in fee or I don’t get my perks.
I’d recommend checking the Reddit forum for Hitch - there are so many others in he same boat as me. People who spent their hard earned money in an idea they fully supported, only to have the company demand more and more and deliver nothing but empty promises for years (all the while telling everyone there was a small delay and they’d be finished making products soon). They even set up their website and began selling a new product (an accessory) alongside all of this chaos, and sold the bottles on their too. It’s definitely an experience that’s put me off crowdfunded backing for life now unfortunately so thanks for that Hitch!
Please note: my experience is my own, and not intended to speak for any others who perhaps had great experiences. I was in Group 3 of shipping, where shipping prices were bumped right up because he company were unable to meet their expected deadline two years prior.

This is the coolest water bottle!
This is the coolest water bottle! Having the hidden cup has come in handy way more than I thought it would and the water stays cold all day. I carry it with me everywhere!
I backed Hitch on kickstarter - love it!
I backed Hitch on kickstarter. I am a regular backer on kickstarter so I am very familiar with the process. I think the majority of the people complaining or posting bad reviews are not familiar with the concept of a kickstarter. You’re backing an idea, not a complete product so you’re involved with the whole R&D process. Most campaigns don’t meet the original delivery date and in the midst of a global pandemic I think Hitch did a great job under the circumstances.
Once I received my Hitch bottle I was very happy with it. It is my go to travel bottle! I love having the coffee cup that stowed away and makes it so much easier to have multiple beverages on the go. The designs were very thoughtful, I especially like the way the coffee mug will lock into the top of the lid of the water bottle. The handle is a great add on accessory.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase and get so many compliments when I use it.
Too heavy, arrived broken, scam.
The bottle is extremely heavy and clumsy. The parts do not fit together smoothly. The plastic lid is poorly made and breaks easily.
My bottle also arrived broken and is unusable.
I was an original Indigogo backer.
I received the bottle 2 YEARS after the initial expected delivery date.
Like others, I had to pay additional shipping or receive nothing and lose my initial investment. (Total shipping $41).
Update: the company has responded to my review. It is true that they sent a constant stream of emails updating backers with their progress. I do not consider that 'transparency'. Transparency would have been advising that an acceptable delay in production was 2-3 YEARS, and that shipping costs would total USD40-50, at the point of sale. True transparency would have involved giving the option of withdrawing part of our contribution and not receiving the product if we did not want to pay the additional shipping cost.
I realise covid created unexpected supply chain delays, however the company continued to accept new orders for products, scaled up their production model and invested in retail stores BEFORE meeting their commitment to the original backers.
None of this would really bother me if the product had met my expectations when I finally received it. But as I stated in my original review, the bottle I eventually received is poor in both quality and design.
It is true that I was sent a replacement lid.

This bottle is seriously cool…
This bottle is a seriously cool concept. From the moment I first saw it I was shocked that something similar did not already exist! If you are environmentally conscious at all, this product is a must have (especially for coffee drinkers). With a reusable, insulated coffee cup that slides right into the Bottle itself, it allows me to order all the hot beverages I want this winter; without feeling guilty every time I throw away my paper cup. Great idea, highly functional, and I really love the color selection. Very unique and cool product.
