By very careful buying a car from Carstore as it appears they are willing to lie about their contracts.

I have bought two cars from Carstore. The first time they added €800 worth of extras I didn’t ask for and only noticed when about to sign the finance agreement that the amount was higher than it should be. Besides that they had been great to deal with.

The second time I was trading in a car and they wouldn’t move on the trade in price but offered to pay the car tax for the year. I asked for this to be included in the order form. I forgot to double check this was in the order form when I signed it a few days later. I followed up a week after buying the car and was sent a confirmation and the tax disc came in the post. I didn’t notice the tax disc was only for 3 months until it expired.

When I contacted Carstore, they said the order form (contract) said they would pay the tax for 3 months. I knew they had offered 12 months and that is what we agreed. I asked would they honour it and they said it was too late and if I had raised it sooner maybe they could have paid the 12 months. I was disappointed but left the matter as I did not have our original agreement in writing.



The next month I contacted Carstore asking for proof of sale of the trade in car which I needed. The sales rep sent me the trade-in invoice along with the order form. The order form had no mention of car tax to be paid - not the 12 months we had agreed and I had asked to be written in, or the 3 months they told me in writing that the order form included.



I may be missing something, but that would appear that Carstore knowingly lied to me about the contents of the contract.



I contacted Carstore last Saturday asking how this situation might have occurred. I texted the sales rep and then spoke to a manager on the phone who told me he had emailed the sales rep and I should expect a call on Monday.



I called to follow up on Monday and the sales rep was not working. I’m not sure if a note was left or not but it’s now Wednesday and I haven’t heard back.





If you choose to buy a car from them, I would urge extreme caution. Make sure everything is in writing, double check the order form is correct, and take a photo after signing. Then, hopefully you might get everything agreed.

Very quick and easy to deal with. Everything went smooth and gave best price around. Definitely will be back in for future dealings.
