I was struggling over the past months trying to learn generative AI, was frustrated because I couldn't get there, couldn't learn it in a professional/carreer way. When I got in Cartoon Hero Course, a very user friendly course, it was simply amazing. The course material and modules were well structured, clear and thoughtfully presented, making even challenging concepts easier to learn. There was a strong focus on work based practical cases, which ensured that what I learned could be readily applied in any AI animation. COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completing this course, you are able to create your own AI-cartoons of any length or style, with consistent characters, and to design your own story/sound/graphics, and pay extra attention to details such as lip-sync.

COURSE DESIGN

This course is well-structured and uses the very practical "artifact-learning" approach. After the first module, which is an introduction to the course, there are three core modules - each with a different focus. After the core modules, there are more learning materials neatly organised in other modules. At the end of the course, students can find extra lessons and bonus materials. The setup of this course allows students to open the modules in any order and to learn at their own pace.

In the first of those core modules, module 2, the students learn how to create an American sitcom cartoon intro by using single-shot videos and animating still images. In module 3, the technique of multi-shot videos is introduced. Also, for the first time, your characters will be able to talk. In module 4, even more cartoon-making advanced techniques are presented.

After finishing the three core modules you will have four finished videos of your own, in which you used all the techniques above. If you did so exceptionally well, you can also apply for the Cartoon Superhero Status.

Module 5 is called the Hero Fight League, in which you will learn how to create cool anime fight videos. As of now, there also is an event (until ~Feb 2026) where some students designed a character and make fight videos in which these characters fight each other. This is one of the many initiatives that the teacher (and his team!) arranged to unlock the students’ creative skills. For more information, simply search online for Hero Fight League.

Up until now, the teacher has been providing all images for the various modules. Eventually, students are encouraged to find their own source images. In module 6, the teacher explains how to find good images ourselves.

In the last part of the course, called Bonus Lessons, we can download some extra course materials, prompt sheets and up-to-date miscellaneous materials of all kinds.

INSIDE THE MODULES - THE COURSE MATERIAL

Each of the modules, apart from module 1, contains a set of short instruction videos of about 2-10 minutes each. Here, the students learn how to re-create the example AI-cartoons that the teacher prepared before, while leaving enough room for the student to divert and make different personal creative choices. In these videos, the instructor explains his chosen techniques and usually shows more than one alternative to achieve similar results. The teacher is a non-native speaker of English, but the accent is perfectly understandable. At the moment, these videos have subtitles in English and Spanish, but more languages may be added in the future.

Other course materials include some PDFs with the prompts and images from the videos, which makes looking back and finding the required prompts and tools used quite easy. Furthermore, you can find many assets that are needed in the modules: source images or audio files for sound effects or music. These course materials are dropped all at once in the beginning of the course, for all modules at the same time.

(HIDDEN) COSTS

Basically, if you buy the course you are good to go. However, the tools you use to create videos and animate images are never completely free. In fact, if you are serious about creating AI-Cartoons you need to be prepared to pay extra – you will burn all your free credits very fast in your learning process. Good to know: this money is not for the course creator, but for the (external) tools you are going to use in this course. One positive note on this topic: in the course you can find some discounts for these tools, so that you can reduce your expenses.

COMMUNITY

I saved the best for last. If you are a participant in the course, you are also entitled to join the closed discord server, where you can meet the other students. Here you can chat with the teacher and his small team of moderators, but also learn from other students. There is a place to showcase your work and ask for feedback, you’ll discover the newest tips-and-tricks that are not in the course yet, you can participate in internal and external contests with prize money to win, and many job opportunities in AI-cartoons are being shared – just to name a few things you can find there. The community is super helpful and supportive and a lot of inspiring work is shared.

OVERALL

A skilled teacher, a dedicated team, a well-structured course, relevant content, and an active community make this an excellent learning experience. If you want to learn how to create AI-Cartoons in an encouraging, and practical way, this course is highly recommended.
