I have been a loyal Cartrack customer for several years, with three vehicles registered under my account. It is extremely disappointing to note the significant decline in service quality, particularly in terms of customer support and professionalism.
I recently requested a transfer of my tracking unit after purchasing a new vehicle. A technician removed the unit from my GTI; however, nearly a month has passed and the unit has still not been installed in my new vehicle.
An amount of approximately R940 was deducted from my account, which differs from the original quotation provided. I had clearly stated that my new vehicle already had a Cartrack unit installed and only required activation. Despite this, I was given inconsistent explanations, which appear unjustified.
In comparison, competitors such as Netstar offer the same service at a significantly lower cost, which raises further concern.
Due to the poor service, lack of communication, and failure to resolve this matter, I have cancelled services for my remaining vehicles. I have also contacted head office and received no response.
I request that this matter be formally investigated, and I would appreciate intervention from the relevant Ombudsman.
Their customer service is terrible. Their website is terrible. Their logbook services are terrible. Their app is terrible. Their phone line is terrible. Their customer service is terrible. Their website user interface is terrible. They sell their customers lies. They are liars. They are thieves. They lock you into a 36 month contract for a terrible service. Stay away from them. Stay as far away from Car Track as you humanly can. Their customer service just reads off of scripts and do not know how to solve any problems. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES. DO NOT LET THEM GET CLOSE TO THE CAR. DO NOT TAKE OUT A DEVICE PLAN WITH THEM. If you are looking at tracking services Car Track should not even exist as a option.

I am disappointed with the service I received from Cartrack and feel compelled to share my experience.
Firstly, I was never informed of a 61-day waiting period when I activated my service. This was not disclosed at any stage during sign-up or installation. Such a critical condition should be clearly communicated upfront, as it directly impacts the effectiveness and value of the service.
Secondly, when my vehicle was stolen, I only received a notification 51 minutes after the incident. This delay is unacceptable for a security and tracking service, where immediate alerts are crucial for recovery. This significantly reduced the chances of retrieving my vehicle.
I would like clear answers on the following:
Why was the 61-day waiting period not disclosed?
What caused the 51-minute delay in alerting me?
What steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen again?
This level of service and lack of transparency is deeply concerning. I expect urgent attention to this matter and a proper resolution.

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with the service I’ve received from this car tracking company. For the past 4 months, I have been harassed on a daily basis regarding payments, despite repeatedly sending clear proof that my account is up to date.
What makes this even worse is the complete lack of communication between their agents. Every time I’m contacted, it’s someone new who seems to have no knowledge of my previous interactions. I’m forced to explain the same situation over and over again, which is both exhausting and unacceptable.
It’s very concerning that a company entrusted with something as important as vehicle security cannot manage basic customer records or resolve a simple issue. Instead of fixing the problem, they continue to inconvenience and stress their customers.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company to anyone. This has been an ongoing, frustrating ordeal that should have been resolved months ago.

WORST! WORST! WORST! experience trying to apply for a tracking device. More than a month now, I've been scheduled twice in one month and no one pitched up. 1st on the technician wasn't available but no one calls to notify, I had to call in only to find out & then 2nd instance, the technician scheduled for me doesn't have the specific device on hand. They keep saying I'll get a call back from the scheduling department but I'm still waiting, I'm getting whatsapp notifications saying they were unsuccessful trying to get hold of me but there's no miss calls and I left my phone on loud specifically for them. I'm trying to apply as a new customer and this is how they welcome you. It's extremely sad, I wasted so much airtime and minutes it's not even a joke. Calls constantly get cut on purpose I'm assuming because I had to threaten to cancel the worst process should the call cut again and all of a sudden no cuts. I'm extremely disappointed honestly, I cancelled tracker to go with you guys and I regret it honestly.

In short, Cartrack expect you to pay for a device, that does not work. When you try to cancel the contract, you are liable for a R2800 cancellation fee.
I seriously don't understand how their legal department can justify these policies, if it is in breach with the Consumer Protection Act.
Cartrack installed a tracking device in my new car in Aug 2025. The installer said the device might struggle to work because the new Jaguars might be too technologically advanced for the device.
Needless to say, he was right, the device didn't work. After probably 20 phone calls and a few emails, Cartrack eventually validated the device to be replaced. This was done, but still the new device didn't work.
Going through the same laborious admin process, a third date was booked for the third installation. I cleared my morning, but no one arrived.
Again, after numerous phone calls a fourth booking date was schedule, and again my morning was cleared and was waiting at home for the installation. Again, no one arrived.
So, after about 60 telephone calls, 20 emails, and speaking to two senior managers, four months later, I still didn't have a tracking device that worked, which I paid for during those months, which my insurance believe, is working...
I seriously doubt Cartrack would have settled my Insurance claim, if the car was stolen without a working device. They expect you to pay for the service, but take zero responsibility is something goes wrong.
I then obviously decided to cancel my contract with Cartrack, but got notified they cannot do that, if I don't pay a R2800 cancellation fee..
The reasoning around this is beyond confusing, and no matter who I spoke to, the answer remained the same.
So, I stopped by debit order at my bank with Cartrack and installed a new tracking device with a different company (which work very well, at the same monthly debit fee).
The amount of emails and daily phone call I received since the debit order was stopped, is astounding. I wish i could have received such service when I actually had the problem..
So with all the calls I received during the last two months, I again each time explained the story that the device does not work, so they must either take me to court, or come and collect their device. The conversation always end that I need to cancel the contract and pay the cancellation fee.
This is my first review I left of any company in my 48 years of existence... and i have had long battles with the Telkom and Eskoms of this world. Even they could not get me to take the time and effort to leave a negative review.
My experience with Cartrack in beyond anything, I have ever dealt with. It it littered with red tape and impersonal, unlawful policies.
I had no issues with Cartrack between 2018 and 2025, when their device was installed, in my now sold Audi.
But, I want to warn all potential future clients, you might go through an extremely frustrating process, and put yourself at immense insurance risk, if something goes wrong with Cartrack device. It seems improbable to get it fixed in any way or form.
This is a big corporate bully, who's staff has zero logical processing abilities, and will try and make your life a living hell, in order they can slap themselves on the back, and say 'yes, we won another battle'

I tried contacting Cartrack at the beginning of last year to move the unit to my new Vehicle. No response, no follow up............. appalling. I had to use a different service provider. Cartrack continued to debit my account even though the vehicle was sold. Not one call from them!!!!! Disgusting. The contract ended October. Now that I have put stop payments on the debit order they are harassing me . 10 calls a day ..............different person each time. Their service is appalling but they certainly don't have a problem demanding money.

Your agents are the most rudest people in the world. Dropping calls on people while speaking and having condescending attitude.

This is a rubbish company u find that you car is stolen then when you call them they block the app and tell you about rescuing fee never ever use car tracker as your main service

While Cartrack delivers reliable vehicle tracking and strong security features, its dashcam solution falls short due to the lack of cloud storage capability. Video footage is stored locally on an SD card, which severely limits remote access and backup options. In high-risk situations like hijackings, this becomes a critical flaw—once the dashcam cables are cut, there’s no live feed or alert to help protect you or your driver. This gap is disappointing, especially for users who expected real-time safety measures.

I am writing this out of absolute frustration after months of trying to resolve issues with Cartrack. I have been stuck with a faulty tracking unit for months, which is a massive security risk, yet they refuse to send a technician to fix it.
Despite the product not working, they continue to deduct monthly payments from my account. I have tried repeatedly to cancel my contract due to their breach of service, but they simply refuse to get back to me or process the cancellation.
Their customer service is non-existent. I have spent hours on hold and sent numerous emails, only to be ignored while they continue to take my money for a service they aren't providing. Avoid this company at all costs.

Review of Cartrack Services
My husband’s Nissan Navara 2023 was stolen on 13 December 2025. According to the Cartrack application report, the perpetrators attempted to start the vehicle three times before successfully starting the engine on the third attempt and driving off.
The tracking data shows that the vehicle was driven approximately 6 kilometres from our residence, after which it remained stationary for close to 30 minutes. During this time, the perpetrators were evidently attempting to locate and remove the tracking device. Despite this prolonged period of tampering, Cartrack did not detect any suspicious activity, nor were we alerted that the vehicle or the tracking device was being interfered with. We received no calls, notifications, or communication from Cartrack at any point during this incident.
What ultimately alerted us to the theft was not Cartrack, but a notification from my husband’s bank indicating suspicious card activity in Soweto (Zola). We reside in Johannesburg North. This occurred because my husband had left his business bank card inside the vehicle. Only after receiving this bank alert did we realise that the vehicle had been stolen, at which point we contacted Cartrack ourselves to report the incident. We also informed them of the bank card activity, and we were advised that they would investigate the area.
Since then, my husband has had to repeatedly contact Cartrack to request updates. Each time, he is redirected between departments with no clear feedback or progress. To date, Cartrack has not once proactively contacted us to provide any updates or developments regarding our case.
Based on our experience, the lack of timely detection, communication, and follow-up has been extremely disappointing and has fallen far short of the service we expected from a vehicle tracking and recovery company.

What can I say — great start, Cartrack. I am beyond upset and extremely disappointed with the workmanship demonstrated by your technicians today.
This morning, technicians Owen and Thando were dispatched to install a Cartrack unit in my vehicle. Before any work commenced, I explicitly informed them that the vehicle is brand new (less than one month old) and showed them its condition. There were no scratches, no paint damage, and no interior damage whatsoever. I made it clear that I expected my vehicle to be returned in exactly the same condition in which it was handed over.
Unfortunately, that did not happen.
Upon completion of the installation, I discovered the following damage and negligence:
Paint scratch damage to the inside panel of the driver’s door
Scuff marks on plastic panels in areas where work was performed
Damaged clips and corners on covers that were clearly forced open
Plastic covers not properly clipped back into place
Scratches to interior plastics caused by careless use of tools inside the vehicle
Debris left behind — wires and plastic fragments on both the driver and passenger seats
This level of workmanship is completely unacceptable, especially when working on a brand-new vehicle.
When I confronted the technicians about the damage, they denied responsibility and claimed the marks were already there. This response is frankly insulting. There should be no confusion about the meaning of a brand-new vehicle, and such excuses only further demonstrate a lack of accountability and care for customers’ property.
I have logged this issue via your call centre, but I believe this matter warrants serious attention from management. Your technicians’ actions reflect poorly on Cartrack, and it is clear that care for customer property was not a priority during this installation.
I am now awaiting Cartrack’s response on how you intend to:
Take responsibility for the damage caused
Rectify the damage to my vehicle
Prevent this level of negligence from occurring again
I expect a prompt and meaningful response. This experience has significantly damaged my trust in your service, and I would like to see how Cartrack intends to make this right.

Extremely poor service and lack of communication.
Our account has been suspended for over a month despite all outstanding payments being made in full on 5 December. Since then, we have received no response to multiple calls and emails requesting assistance or clarification.
What makes the situation worse is that monthly fees continue to be deducted, even though the account remains suspended and no service is being provided. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
A total lack of communication, no accountability, and continued billing without service rendered. We expected far better service and transparency.
