Terrible experience

Terrible experience – avoid this dealer.

I bought a Nissan from this dealership on February, and it has been nothing but problems. The day after I bought the car, the engine warning light came on. When I returned to ask about it, the staff dismissed my concerns and told me that modern cars have lots of sensors and that warning lights are “normal” because there are too many sensors. That is completely unacceptable. .. got faulty car at 13000 avoid this place …

I also discovered that parts of the car had faded paint which appeared to have been temporarily covered up before the sale. When the weather became warmer and I tried to use the air conditioning, it only blew hot air. I had to pay £120 out of my own pocket to get it repaired.

As a first-time car buyer, I feel I was misled and sold a faulty vehicle. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this dealership. Please be very careful before buying a car from them.
I paid about 13000 and what i got like this car. Awful

I would highly recommend against using…

I would highly recommend against using CarWorld. I had the unfortunate displeasure of being looked after by Scott. He was selling me products before I test drove the car and made it very clear his priority was on the sale, not making sure the car was right. While I appreciate this is a valid sales technique, when I’m looking to part with nearly £40k I would expect better service.
After getting the sales pitch and being told the wrong deposit amount needed if I wanted to buy, we took the car on a test drive. The route was really good for a test drive.
At the end of the test drive Scott left to talk to another customer. Having waited for a short while, I left. The car wasn’t right for me and I didn’t like Scott’s manner.
Today I get a phone call from Scott asking me why I “ran off” without speaking to him. I told him that the car wasn’t for me and he was too busy sorting out a different customer. For which he then accused me of being rude. I asked to speak to a member of management, but apparently one was not available.
I am sure the lack of a sale has hit Scott’s pay packet, but his behaviour actively turn off any potential sale and subsequent phone will mean I will not use and actively discourage others using Car World.

If I could give less than 1 star I would

I purchased a vehicle from Car World on 10 January 2026. Within days, warning lights appeared and I reported these to the dealership. Before I was able to return the vehicle to them, it developed drivetrain and charging faults and became undrivable.

The vehicle was recovered to Car World and retained for approximately two weeks. I was subsequently informed that they had been unable to identify any faults and the vehicle was returned to me. However, further faults continued to occur.

A local garage later identified an issue with the 12V battery and, following further drivetrain faults, BMW diagnosed a fault with the EV battery. According to BMW’s assessment, the fault was consistent with a condition that existed prior to my purchase. Car World’s proposed solution was to carry out the repair themselves; however, BMW advised that repairs attempted without specialist knowledge could potentially worsen the issue.

Despite notifying Car World within the first month that I wished to reject the vehicle, the matter remained unresolved for several months. I sought advice from Citizens Advice and eventually instructed a solicitor, who sent a letter before action. Car World subsequently agreed to provide a full refund, although payment was received considerably later than expected.

In my opinion, the after-sales service and communication fell well below the standard I expected. While I am pleased that I ultimately received a refund, it should not have taken five months to resolve a matter involving a vehicle that I was only able to use for approximately four weeks.

The process was lengthy and extremely stressful, involving numerous phone calls, emails and ultimately legal action. In my experience, communication from Car World and between members of staff was poor. I frequently had to chase for updates and was often told I would receive a call back, which in many instances did not happen.

Based on my experience, I would not choose to purchase from Car World again. Also be aware car world has 2 profiles on trust pilot.

Avoid: Breached Statutory Deadlines and Consumer Law

Appalling post-sale experience with Car World. The car they sold me was faulty and not fit for purpose. Very little support and help in getting it fixed. Mostly non-responsive of emails and when I get someone on the phone they can't help and have to get back to us. I have legally rejected the car after their failed attempts to fix it. First they tried to refuse my rejection which is a breach of the consumer right act.

Its now been over 2 months since my purchase and they still have my money and my car. Since my rejection they have completely failed to return my funds within the statutory 14-day window. While Car World have now accepted the vehicle's rejection they are now trying to reduce the amount they are refunding. Instead of complying with the law, they have attempted to stall the process by demanding an unlawful, punitive usage fee of 45p per mile and refusing to cover the independent diagnostic costs required to find the safety defect which their garage failed to identify and correct.

Furthermore, when we purchased the vehicle we paid £415.83 for the car to be serviced and both Halfords and the Volvo garage through their diagnostics work have said that the car has not been serviced.

As they have breached their legally binding deadlines and ignored my Final Notice Before Action, official legal proceedings have now been initiated via small claims court to recover my money, alongside a formal report to Trading Standards

Avoid this dealership if you value your safety, your money, and your consumer rights.

The service was excellent no hard selling…Excellent buying Experience

The service was excellent no hard selling by staff, left to look at the cars on site. When I had selected a car the sales rep Scott talked me through the cars history. Then he clearly set out purchasing options and extended warranties ETC. I had been to other car show rooms in Peterborough but was deterred by the had sell. I would highly recommend Car World if your looking for a car in the City.

Don’t trust AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID I bought a car from them for 55,000 with a warranty, and it had a problem the same day I bought it. They didn't pay me for the repair spent £3000 and didn't even answer my calls. They're liars. Before the purchase, they are so kind, but after the purchase and payment, they become a completely different person. They deserve less than one star.

CarWorld have agreed they sold me a faulty car

Update - Carworld eventually agreed that they had sold me a faulty car. They couldn’t really dispute it after I spent £200 on a main dealer diagnostic which included a video where they pointed out the fake sensor which was causing car to breakdown.

I got my money back for the car, but only after starting a s75 dispute against my credit card, sending a lot of legal emails, crying several times on the phone, negging them on review sites and after my partner went into their store on a Saturday and made a loud fuss over how dodgy they are.

Don’t let these guys fob you off if you have bought a dodgy car from them. Their “rejection policy” does not reflect consumer law. Don’t let them bodge repairs or delay your rejection so it falls beyond the 30 day window, which seems to be their tactic.

I was very lucky that my car failed so soon after purchase and I had part paid on credit card, so I had maximum consumer protection.

Even so, I had three weeks of huge stress and worry about getting my £14,000 back, while also not having a car to take my kids to school and get myself to work.

During that entire period no manager spoke with me. Even after my partner drove the faulty car 80 miles back to Peterborough and went into the branch no manager was prepared to speak with him.

I genuinely felt bad for their after sales team as it must be pretty grim having to deal with upset and angry customers if management refuse to speak to them.

I’m now trying to get CarWorld to agree to at least pickup the £200 main dealer diagnostic report fee as I shouldn’t be left out of pocket when they sold me a faulty car which broke down within two weeks. I only had to get an independent report as they were claiming engine failure was “wear and tear” from an old battery when I had barely driven the car.

I have also paid penalties for cancelling my insurance and parking permit.

Carworld have started ghosting me so I am going to bring a claim for the money out of principle.

I very strongly recommend others to avoid this place. It has genuinely been one of the most stressful experiences I have ever had and I’m now very nervous about buying any other car.

It is a lottery to buy something from here. The cars are cheap but they don’t properly check them before sale - mine looked immaculate but hade a fake sensor causing engine faults and also had a leaking coolant tank, which should definitely have been seen and fixed before sale.

Keep going if you are trying to get your money back from CarWorld. Trading Standards must have a considerable file on these guys, so Im sure they want to avoid court . I found it reassuring that others had been through the same process and some reviews said they were successful - so thank you for those honest reviews.

I purchased a car from Big Motoring…

I purchased a car from Big Motoring World expecting it to be reliable, but shortly after buying it, serious faults started appearing. I had to pay for diagnostic checks myself just to confirm the issues, which was already frustrating and costly.
The biggest disappointment was the warranty and aftersales process. Despite the faults being genuine and professionally diagnosed, I was constantly passed between different people and departments, with nobody taking responsibility or giving clear answers. Communication was poor, and I spent more time chasing updates than actually getting help.
In the end, the warranty provider and dealership refused to properly cover the repairs, leaving me out of pocket after already paying for diagnostics myself. I also felt my consumer rights were completely ignored throughout the process, despite the car developing faults so soon after purchase.
The whole experience has been stressful, expensive, and incredibly time-consuming. I would strongly advise anyone considering buying from Big Motoring World to carefully check what their warranty actually covers and be aware of your consumer rights if anything goes wrong.

Excellent sales adviser

I visited Carworld's Peterborough site on a busy Saturday afternoon and I had an excellent experience. I came by train and if was a comfortable 30 minute walk along the city's cycle paths. I was welcomed by a sales adviser Monika, who was knowledgeable, attuned to my needs, had good humour and gave me a little time to browse a couple of options and made really good suggestions without ever being pushy or impatient. She was juggling me with two other customers but gave me attention when I needed it. The site itself was nicely laid out and the two five-year-old cars I looked at were so immaculately presented that they both looked brand new.
