This is a scam.

This is a scam.

The caller had access to my personal information, which appears to have been obtained unlawfully and in violation of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). They claimed I was overpaying on existing financial obligations (such as credit cards or vehicle finance) and attempted to mislead me by referencing legislation to appear legitimate. They further promised unrealistic reductions of up to 60% on payments and interest, claims that are highly suspicious and not credible.

When I challenged the legitimacy of the call and questioned how they obtained my information without consent, the caller deflected by repeating legal jargon rather than providing any verifiable, written proof. At that point, I terminated the call and blocked the number.

Subsequently, I received an SMS stating that I had given consent for a credit report to be requested on my behalf. This is false. I did not provide any such consent.

I have reported this matter to the National Credit Regulator (NCR). Should there be any unauthorized activity, inquiries, or changes on my credit profile or accounts as a result of this incident, I will pursue the maximum legal action available without hesitation.
