Avoid if possible

Very big commercial landlord. Knows all the tricks and takes all possibilities to take money from you where possible. Some other things just feel fishy (e.g. initial & final inspection is done BY the renovation service - so they literally try to find as much as possible to have more work which leads to unnecessarily high costs).

We are sorry that you had this experience. I hope this can give you some clarification.

CEJ is not the landlord but the property management company. It is our job to make sure that everything is as it should be with residential lease agreements, rent, utility bills, house rules etc.

The landlord has chosen an external company for the task, not our technical department. The external company are responsible for inspections and renovation after which they send the invoices to us.

Appreciation

Apartment hunting can be a nightmare for a big family, but thanks to the employees at CEJ things were very smooth, specially with Covid-19 restrictions, they made things easy and convenient with just a click.
I’m very happy to deal with this company, the employees are very professional, on time and most importantly eager to help a customer and meet their expectations.

Highly professional and cooperative

I lived in one of CEJs properties in Copenhagen for almost one year between 2019 and 2020. The people from CEJ were always very professional and the response time on my e-mails was usually within hours on normal working days. As an foreigner living in Denmark it is not always easy to understand the Danish rules of the housing market. For me it was a great relief that CEJ (especially Anders) was able to explain the most important things in English to me and that everyone from CEJ took the time until I understood everything.

I have lived both in A/B Mønten and in…

I have lived both in A/B Mønten and in Bøgholmen under the CEJ administration with great experiences both times. A/B Mønten is an andelsboligforeningen where I lived for 8 years, followed by 1 year at Bøgholmen in a rented apartment. During our stay at Bøgholmen we have had a great communication with the administrators, but we unfortunately had to move due to horrible upstairs and downstairs neighbours. CEJ reacted swiftly on our's and other's complaints about the tenants, so our move has nothing related to the administration. All communication with CEJ has been friendly and professional. We got our entire deposit back, and within a reasonable timeframe as well.

Unprofessional / Rude pupil

I was looking for an apartment and get contact with CEJ from a friend of mine. They showed me some place in Brønshøj and within 10 minutes after they said its been rented to other people. Later on they said they didnot look at my mail properly as they cannot rent it out for a couple (I know my friend is living in the same building with his wife). Then they offered me another place after my request, but then i need to contact their tenent who was not at all responding. Then our mail conversation went on 10 times but they would not contact to their tenent and tell him to show the apartment and she said i should do it myself. After few days she send me mail again saying if i have visited the place, which i wasnot. She was each time writing to me saying if you are not interested i will go for another Applicant. At last i wrote to them saying they need to be professional in the way they communicate, then she told me that i should better found a place to live from other company not for them. I know it wont make any difference for them but they normally take 3 months deposite, 3 months prepaid rent and are so unprofessional. Terrible people

Refusal to change moldy washing machine

After I moved in to an apartment managed by CEJ, I complained for the condition of the washing machine. The washing machine in the apartment was extremely old, dirty and full of mold. I asked them to change it, and after the first refusal (if it's not completely broken, we won't get you a new one), they proposed that a cleaning lady will come and clean it. The cleaning lady came, and cleaned whatever it was possible, but she advised me that I should tell CEJ to change it since it's in a very bad condition. After I contacted CEJ again, the response was "I will not get change because of this.". I find it unbelievable that they just don't care, and they are not willing to spend even 2000 to get a new one.

At current time, the whole washing machine will not be replaced. In accordance with the contract, the lease does not come with at new washing machine, and as you know the condition has been assessed used but functional. I hope for your understanding.

Great experience with CEJ

Renting, living and collaborating with CEJ during the move-out has been an easy and smooth process, where we have been met with kindness, understanding and patience. All our questions have been promptly answered and we have felt heard and taken care of, which is an experience which is unfortunately not common while dealing with companies with such a massive volume of work - and especially when dealing with volatile things like one's housing. We are very happy and look forward to dealing with CEJ and specifically Maiken, when we recommend our friends who are looking to rent in the Copenhagen area. Thank you for everything! :-)

Incompetent building administrator

Our building administrator, Tanja, was quite incompetent.
1. Refusing to address some issues about building access because I had sent emails to both her and the building caretaker (pretending that was "confusing" to them - I did this for the sake of traceability).
2. Losing our rent payment once in the system and not being able to find it for a whole month.
3. Not communicating on planned building work.
4. Not following-up on issues we had since the beginning of our tenancy
5. Requesting that everything be an email, but then refusing to reply to said emails and only replying to issues on the phone
6. Redirecting me to the caretaker for most things, even though the caretaker never ever replied on the phone over the course of our tenancy

I have complained about this behaviour to the building owners and, by the end of our tenancy, they removed some responsibilities from CEJ and decided to take care of some things themselves.

We are sorry that you have had this experience with CEJ during the time you lived in the building.

Depending on our agreement with the building owner, there are certain things only the caretaker and building owner can act on, like communicating on planned building work. In some cases, we therefore had to redirect you to the caretaker. In other situations, we had to ask you to send emails to your personal property manager only, so the work was not initiated twice.

In general, we ask tenants to send queries by mail for necessary documentation and to avoid misunderstandings.

As you know, in relation to the missing rent payment, we had the money on time but from an unknow account. As soon as we received the documentation from you the payment was accepted.

Again, we are sorry, that you had this experience. I can see that you moved out, but you are welcome to contact us, so that we can clear up any remaining misunderstandings.

If it was possible to give them 0 i would do that!!!

We gave the keys on Aug and after more than 2 months they back to us with an invoice!!!! Our deposit was 28000
When we moved in the house it was a mess!!!
The house was clean when we left there! The person who checked the house said everything is fine but we charged!!!!!
I’m sure the reply is “ we are sorry” ofcourse if anyone reply !

Tine was the Ejendomsadministrator who was terrible! We had 3 months deposit and 3 months pre-paid. Each month of the last 3 months we should remind her we paid!!!! Do not send the invoice!
But you know they love to send invoice for no reason!

The apartment was in a perfect condition and professional cleaning has been done upon moving out.
We didn’t hang anything on walls!! I don’t know what the paint was for? Maybe some birds attack and make a hole on wall!
The most stupid thing is as follow:
They sent a letter that you should move out two weeks earlier, so we did!

Now they are saying you should pay for heating and electricity until the end of month and when we ask why!! They said it’s because you rented the house until the end of month! But we should live there 2 weeks less!!!
Well done CEJ for your meaningful and professional answers!

We are sorry about the waiting time you experienced with the settlement during the time you moved out.

It is never in our interest to delay the charging, but it will take some time before we get the invoices for painting work and limescale removal etc. In your case it should have gone faster, and we apologize for that.

Furthermore, it is our job to ensure that the apartment is in the same condition as when you moved in. You signed both the first and final inspection report in which you agree to the condition of the apartment when moving in and improvements when moving out.

Unbelievably bad!

We had a terrible experience with CEJ, namely with Patrick Holst.
He handled the case so badly that we are now in a court case.
I also wrote a formal complaint to 7 people at CEJ and never received a reply.

I'm super disappointed with this…

I'm super disappointed with this company
We moved in to a new apartment in Valby that was owned by Taurus (another housing company). The door of the washing machine couldn't be opened and we had put clothes inside already. I spent days contacting Taurus and when they finally replied CEJ had bought the apartment. After finally being able to contact someone (2 weeks almost) they call a repairman that was able to open the door, but told us we couldn't use the washing machine because we needed a new piece so we the tenants had to talk to CEJ to order it. I reach out to them and they tell me I am responsible for ordering it with Electrolux, (3 weeks at this point without a washing machine). Today it is officially 4 weeks without a washing machine and we only received an email saying be patient. Wow thank you!!!!! What kind of service is this?

xenophobic vagt - Could not get help

If you do not speak Danish, the emergency number (vagt) will not help you because as the agent said "Speak Danish, we live in Denmark" Unacceptable, it's 2019!! My apartment smells gas just like there is a gas leak and the agent (today 17/04/19 at 20:30) denied to help me in english even though he could understand english. He was rather rude, like I am bothering him...

1. If it was my first day in DK, I would still not be able to speak Danish
2. If you can not communicate in English = Do not rent apartments to non-danish speakers
3. Not going the extra mile to help a stressed customer under an urgent situation like this is unacceptable, especially since your/his monthly salary comes from my/our contribution...

They cheat very professionally so you can't get away :-(

If you live in one of their apartments don't expect any of the deposit back. It is one of the worst kind of experience, which is unfortunately not uncommon in Copenhagen.

It takes institutionalized corruption to a new level. It seems the sole purpose of the firm, and dare I say, many other similar firms seesm to fleece unsuspecting tenants of as much money as possible. I had a deposit of more than 34k and they gave me a settlement of 33k. And this included, would you belive it, 3500 for replacing a Key. That's not all, after I cleaned everything, they deducted another 2800 for cleaning, why because they say they had to paint (for which they deducted a further 24k) and after the painting the cleaning required cost me another 2800.

So after all the calculations I was supposed to get back about 1300 in three to 4 weeks but I haven't received a penny after well over 2 months, nor I have received any information on why is it delayed.
