Center Parcs Ireland - very good except for the restaurants
Center Parcs Ireland set in Longford Forest is a premium priced short break holiday destination.
The Pros: Stunning location. Woodland lodges are clean and family friendly, with some being able to facilitate pet dogs. The water park or sub tropical area was enjoyed by all.
The food was where it all went wrong. Hucks restaurant was overpriced with the food not matching the price point. The €21.50 burger seemed more like a rubbery compressed material rather than made with minced beef etc. Allegedly cooked to order according to the menu, the waiter did not ask how I wanted it cooked. My wife’s chicken Caesar salad was slathered in way too much sauce to the point she couldn’t get more than a third of the way into it. Kids said their meals were ‘meh’.
Ordered an all day breakfast Dutch style pancake in the Pancake House but what arrived looked like an inedible brown paste spread across the pancake with a fried egg on top. Tasting it confirmed that yes it was inedible. Supposed to have sausage and bacon but couldn’t find anything that looked like either. Yuck, but the rest of my family enjoyed their choice of waffles.
The food delivery service to the Lodge was good. Choice was great, delivery on time and piping hot, with delicious food in general.
The only problem really during our stay was the food in the restaurants we tried. Quality was not great and portions were small. Did not live up to the price charged.
