Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 73 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the customer service, citing issues such as unhelpful staff, constant delays, and conflicting information. People frequently encountered problems with products, including receiving defective or broken items, and found the resolution process to be slow and frustrating. Though some people were satisfied with the staff, describing them as knowledgeable and helpful, a minority of people were dissatisfied with the product recommendations and the perceived lack of product knowledge from some employees. Additionally, while some found the prices to be fair, others felt that the overall lack of service made any potential savings not worthwhile.

WARNING!!!!

WARNING!!!!! This company does not follow the Australian Consumer Law when dealing with faulty products. I bought over $5000 worth of components to build a new computer in January 2024 and in less than 10 months the motherboard completely stopped working. Despite having the original receipt and box, I took it back and they refused to refund me. They believe that having me wait 4 weeks without a computer while they send it off to the manufacturer for them to repair or replace it with a refurbished motherboard is an appropriate solution. That is an unacceptable, not to mention an unlawful solution for a faulty product that is worth over $500!

WARNING to consumers in particular…

WARNING to consumers in particular small business owners. I purchased a MSI 17 Laptop in June 2024 and it stopped working 1 November 2024. Contacted Centre Com Richmond they advised that it would take between 2 to 4 weeks to get repaired, they didn't provide a loan laptop or PC for the interim due to their policies. If you require business continuity do not waste your money at Centre Com their are alternatives such as Dell that will honour their warranty and come to your place of business to repair or replace

Abusive manager

On Thursday 12th September 2024 I rang and spoke to somebody to question the 15% restocking fee they got extremely abusive with me and they said there is nothing I can do for you so get lost. I will never step foot inside this store again and I would advise others to do the same.

Kind regards to centrecom auburn's team

I hope my comment appears publicly because the Centcom team is really made up of kind and cooperative individuals who are also highly qualified and experienced. In addition to that, they are kind and patient in solving customers’ problems. They cooperated with me in a professional and very nice way, especially Mr. Ben, who was responsible for maintaining my computer and was following the problem step by step until he discovered the fault in the processor and solved the problem as quickly as possible and in the best way. I am really grateful for all this kindness and respect in addition to the experience and professional competence that Centcom’s team possesses.

Cheap Prices, but Poor Service and Non-Compliant with Australian Consumer Law

I’ve had a less than ideal experience with Centrecom. While their prices are competitive, several key issues have made it difficult to recommend them for serious purchases.

Website & User Experience:
Their website feels outdated, like a high school project from 2004. It’s clumsy to navigate, with poor filtering options and a frustrating user experience. Communication from the company is slow and often unclear.

Order Fulfillment:
Orders are processed slowly, with delays in receiving items compared to other retailers like Amazon, Samsung, and Bose. No invoices are attached to emails, which means you have to dig through their poorly designed ecosystem to find important order details.

Additional Fees:
While prices are low, they tack on fees for card payments, which is something to consider when comparing costs with other retailers.

Packaging:
The packaging is shockingly inadequate. Orders arrive wrapped in stretch film and bubble wrap, similar to what you'd expect from an amateur eBay seller. This raises concerns about potential damage in transit, which could invalidate warranties.

Terms & Conditions:
Their terms and conditions are ambiguous and not aligned with Australian consumer law. When I inquired further, they sent out additional terms that seemed excessive and, frankly, invalid. Requests for returns are met with unreasonable demands, costs, and expectations that aren’t in line with Australian consumer protection.

Final Verdict:
If you need basic items like cables, desk mats, or phone chargers, Centrecom might be worth the risk due to the low prices. However, for more serious purchases, especially if you’re spending significant money, the potential downsides far outweigh the benefits. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for high-value items.

Refused to refund even it's brand new (still in box)

I purchased a Samsung S23 FE from them and and realised I was meant to buy S23 not S23 FE. So I contacted them and was told they don't refund if it is 'change mind' and it is their policy. Who would go check the policy before buying things? Anyway I apologized for the inconvience cause and told them I have raised a ticket the next day after I purchased and I did not open the box at all ect no response. I strongly advise you check their policies before you buy anything. This is the first company in Australia that I came across refusing to refund even when the item is not opened, still brand new in the package.

ASUS laptop - No dramas

I bought an ASUS laptop for a very good price which was delivered to Brisbane within a week of purchase. I had hesitated after reading so many scathing reviews but added delivery insurance for .1% of purchase price for piece of mind. I’m still unsure about the legitimacy of some of the poor reviews.

Ignored Australian Consumer Laws

Purchased a Samsung Odyssey G7 monitor from the Frankston store in April. Monitor developed scan lines after 4 months. As per the Australian Consumer Law, this is a major fault.
Store refused to do anything except for repair, even after I showed them the ACL website and requesting a refund as per my right.
Also, after a Google search, this is a common issue with Samsung monitors, which I also advised. They would not budge and only offerred repair.
They do not care about Australian Laws, and now I am out of a monitor for my computer waiting for a repair where most likely the issue will reoccur.
They've lost me as a customer and will be reporting them to the Department of Fair Trading and ACCC.

Telephone numbers do not answer

they give a telephone number for 'Help'.
the only help that gives is to say when they are open - they do not take calls.
they have a number for manual verification of bank accounts - that number does not even answer, and 'Optus advises that the mobile number (sic) that you dialled has been disconnected'.
They do not take a PO Box for delivery, fair enough, but they also refuse it as a billing address!

Company sold a faulty product

Company sold a faulty product, and refused to refund it - something required under Australian consumer law given the product suffered a major failure requiring more then a month of repair time. Not to mention they steadfastly ignored any queries related to such case.

Denied warranty for user damage but refused to show the damage

two separate items, denied warranty for customer induced damage, does not show what was damaged, one item was replaced by manufacturer under warranty with no damage, other item wasn't even broken it was a different item on it. Extremely scummy business with no regards to consumer rights, will be reported to the ACCC and will contact my bank about a chargeback, do not buy here unless you want to burn money,

On-time shipping and excellent first-time experience

Although there are many negative reviews here on this platform, my review is based on my first experience of purchasing an online product with Centre Com Sunshine Pty Ltd (yes, that is their full name on the Invoice) trading as Centre Com. First, I am within the 20 km radius of their Auburn Superstore - so, my shipping experience can differ with others.

The store offered really competitive price for a HDD that I was after and more importantly free shipping included. I was referred to their site by the price comparison tool Zyft (which was pretty helpful). They have many positive reviews in Google (Maps) and that confirmed that I can try them.

They had sent the HDD well packaged - as it is the kind of item that is bound to be impacted by bad handling. I received the item within 2 days of purchase. The item is functioning well so far and I have no complaints so far.

Hope this is useful to someone else.

This company is either a scam or customer service is completely incompetent

I bought a laptop and opted for delivery by post. The website indicates that shipping takes 2 business days for metro locations. My home is just a few suburbs away from the main office of this business. It took almost a week for the tracking number I was given to produce any results on the Australia Post website. When it did produce results it gave me no indication where the parcel was. Apparentely it got redirected to another state.
I began emailing the company to ask for help. They kept delaying and asking me to wait until Australia Post updated its website. About a week and a half into this process, the redirection of the parcel to another state was discovered. I sent about 10 messages and got no tangible help whatsoever. Then I asked to cancel the order. Customer service asked me to place a second order (at my expense) on their website and drop into the store to pick it up. They did not offer to refund my first purchase. In fact they told me that I would have to wait until the parcel was found and then redelivered back to them for a refund. Who knows how long that could take.
In the meantime, I have absolutely no idea where the parcel is and if I will ever get my money back. My advice to you is do not every deal with this company.
There is no way to get in touch with them via telephone.
Not once during this entire process did anyone ever pick up the phone to call me an apologize.
In fact, they make it impossible to actually speak to a live person and sort stuff out in a timely and civilized fashion.
Dealing with this company has been a nightmare. I will never do business with them again.

Avoid use Amazon or similar

After an awkward click-and-collect where they tried to give me the wrong order (apparently, you don't ask for ID first)
Open a new monitor after collection to find it wasn't curved as expected. I returned the following day (less than 24 hours later) to be told to exchange it. I was told there was a 15% restocking fee as the tape had been cut on the box; nothing was written on the invoice stating this. Seriously? Upgrading in the same store within 24 hours and getting a 15% surcharge for cutting the tape?

Still waiting to hear from ACCC if this is even legal.

No wonder Amazon is killing it. Support your local store, they say!

Great Customer Service & Warranty Team

Many people seem to be making complaints about poor customer service etc, I purchased around $3500 in computer parts from them around a year ago to build a pc, the CPU ended up dying on me, I contacted their support team and within a day had my items sent off for them to test & check, it ended up being faulty so they replaced it for me free of charge. This is my personal experience, I haven't had any issues with their service and their customer service was amazing and fast.
