Unauthorized Listings and Deceptive Removal Process

1 star
This platform created a business profile for my company without any authorization or prior consent. When I discovered the listing and attempted to remove it, the site uses deliberate UI obstruction—dark patterns designed to make deletion nearly impossible while pressuring business owners to "claim" profiles they never requested in the first place.
Their standard defense is that all data comes from Google's public business ecosystem. However, this explanation ignores the fundamental issue: legitimate directories provide straightforward opt-out mechanisms for businesses that don't want to be listed. This platform does not.
After attempting to remove my unauthorized listing, I began receiving persistent marketing emails pressuring me to upgrade to "premium" services. The pattern is clear—this isn't a business directory operating in good faith. It's a lead generation system that exploits scraped business data to create artificial problems, then sells paid "solutions."
Warning for business owners: If you discover an unauthorized listing of your company here, document all communications and consider formal complaints to the BBB and FTC. These practices may constitute deceptive trade practices under consumer protection law.
Warning for consumers: Do not rely on business information displayed on this site. Contact companies directly through their official websites to ensure you're getting accurate service information and legitimate contact details.
This platform prioritizes monetization and data retention over accuracy, consent, and ethical business practices.

Extremely misleading directory.

My company was listed on ChamberofCommerce without my permission, including incorrect business details that could mislead customers. When I requested removal, they changed the information multiple times rather than removing it. At one point they even displayed a completely fake address while still using my business name and ratings.

This looks less like a “business directory” and more like a website scraping data to generate pages for advertising clicks. The customer support responses were slow and offered no real solution. Instead of professionally removing the listing as requested, they kept modifying it in ways that made things worse.

No serious, reputable business platform would operate like this.

If you’re a business owner, check whether they’ve listed you without permission—you may not like what you find.

Based on my experience, this site does not operate at the level of transparency or professionalism that real businesses expect.

Unwilling to Fix Map Errors Without Payment – Poor Support for Service Area Businesses"

I’m the owner of a junk removal business based in Delaware with a wide service area. Like many service-based businesses, I don’t operate with a public-facing address. My Google Business Profile (GBP) has a hidden address, and I use Greenwood, DE consistently across all citations for accuracy and SEO. While performing a citation audit, I found that ChamberofCommerce.com had a listing for my business with a map pin in an incorrect location, even though the listing text accurately says Greenwood. I contacted their support team to have the map corrected, since I never authorized this inaccurate representation of my business location. Instead, I was told by one of their account managers, Jamie Cole, that since the listing “matches Google,” they wouldn’t change the pin. However, the map pin on Google is automatically generated and not something I control, especially because my address is hidden. Despite this, they refused to fix the error or remove the listing unless I paid for a premium account.

I was also told the only way to get the listing removed was to delete my Google Business Profile entirely, which is not a viable option for any legitimate business owner. This approach puts service-based businesses at a disadvantage. We deserve control over how our businesses are represented. Especially on platforms that claim to support small business visibility. Holding basic accuracy behind a paywall is a predatory practice. I do not recommend ChamberofCommerce.com to other business owners, especially if you run a service-area business. Their unwillingness to make reasonable corrections or honor removal requests is unprofessional and damaging to citation integrity.

Amazing Customer Service!

I am a freelancer. I was hired to update and create directory listings for a law firm that has 13 offices in North Carolina. That is a tedious and boring task. Most of the time you can get no customer service from anyone. I have been trying all week to get websites like Yelp to help me...not so with Chamber of Commerce. I got almost instantaneous service! It was truly mind blowing and amazing! I accidentally created a duplicate listing. My listing had more details than the old listing, but the old listing had over 90 reviews that I didn't want to lose. I wrote customer service to ask them what to do. I checked my email about 5 minutes later because I was waiting for a security code for a different website and was shocked to see that I had already gotten a response with a solution from Chamber of Commerce. Kudos to Jamie, their account manager! In this day and age getting an actual human being that really understands the problem is very rare. It is also much appreciated! I have gotten so disillusioned and depressed about the serious lack of customer service in all industries, not just web companies. Even if you can get a human, there is usually some misunderstandings because of language differences as many companies use people in other countries. I just really want to thank Jamie at Chamberofcommerce.com for quickly helping me. I also want to say that I was posting free listings on behalf of my client NOT paid ones so there was no motivation for them to help me that quickly. Thank you!!!!

Scam

Scam. They tell you they’re going to get you at the top of searches in your area. They don’t. And then they auto renew you without your consent. Calling my bank to report.

Scam company

They scrape the internet and provide inaccurate information about businesses for their own benefit. They then try to sell you things to fix this.

They will not remove listings even if you did not authorize them to list it. If you look at any reviews of this shady company, you will see a common theme.

They are a total scam.

Beware: ChamberOfCommerce.com Engages in Deceptive and Unauthorized Business Listings

ChamberOfCommerce.com scrapes business information without consent and posts unauthorized listings that often include misleading or fake reviews. They refuse to remove these listings even when requested, claiming they only take content down if the original source removes it first — which is impractical and unjust.

Additionally, they aggressively push a paid service called “Review Defender” to businesses to help “manage” the negative reviews that they themselves have allowed to appear. This is a deceptive, exploitative practice targeting small businesses.

This is not a genuine third-party business directory committed to accuracy or fairness. Instead, it profits from unauthorized use of business identities and misleads consumers.

If you encounter these practices, report them to:

Federal Trade Commission (FTC):
Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3):

Better Business Bureau (BBB):

Actions over very little words.

Long story shorter, I have been going to Mutts and pups for several months and even though they’re not very professional they did a pretty good job on my mini golden doodle that was until they cut her lashes and that was upsetting, but then I call to see if they have hair dye for pups that lasts only a week for Xmas instead of the hair dye that lasts until you cut the hair out. The man in charge said yes they do and to come in right then. I come in to get my pup with some green on her like the grinch for Christmas. And they Long story shorter, I have been going to Mutts And Pups Grooming LCC located in Brush, Colorado for several months and even though they’re not very professional they did a pretty good job on my mini golden doodle that was until they cut her lashes and that was upsetting, but then I call to see if they have hair dye for pups that lasts only a week for Xmas instead of the hair dye that lasts until you cut the hair out. The man in charge said yes they do and to come in right then. I come in to get my pup with some green on her like the grinch for Christmas. And they said it wouldn’t last that long maybe a week and they would wash it out and get her normal cut in a week.
Well unfortunately that wasn’t true. Not only did the owner say 20$ for dye but they then tried to charge me 90$ for a trim they didn’t do and a wash I didn’t ask for. It was also the worst color job I’ve ever seen, literally spots on her everywhere. It looked terrible for a so called professional to do. I asked if they ran out of dye since there was spots missing. They replayed with no and it’s just on the places that will grow out faster. Not to mention they said they couldn’t get it in her eyes cut it was around her eyes looks like by accident also. I had to get going so I left and when I got home I noticed how even worse it actually was and I bite my tongue. That was until it didn’t wash out! I called mutts and putts and told them how I was upset with how bad of a job she did and how they were trying to charge me more tHan agreed and the color didn’t come out.
Again they repliyed the hair to at grows slower didn’t get dyed.
I again thought and then said it doesn’t make sense because this comes out in a week anyways you said. Both owners (groomer and receptionist) in charge had nothing really to say. I then asked why it didn’t come out and how were they going to be able to help me and my fur baby out to fix this mess they mase.
Owners had nothing to say except for oh that’s weird the dye didnt come out, it should have and they would call me the next day with a time to come in with a plan. The next day they call me and say family emergency and can’t help me til after The new year and they would call me.
I didn’t push and I agreed to wait until the beginning of the new year which was 5 more days away to have her come in. By January 3rd I heard nothing so I messaged wondering when they were going to help me fix her up and they said “you missed your appointment “ which was the day before but since they had family stuff come up I was being respectful and waiting for him to call me back as he said he would.
It is now the 23rd of January and I have still yet to hear back from them after I’ve texted and called several times.
Idk if they are even truly certified groomers to be honest they never got any paperwork about my dog and always were unprofessional, I will not return to that place and ever trust them to take care of my fur baby again!
