Chargebee is dead in terms of service

Chargebee is dead in terms of service - we have been trying to having an invoicing issue resolved for three months - I suspect they no longer provide any customer support and simply outsource helpdesk to create a facade. As at October 2019 I dont think anyone actually works there anymore.

A billing product that can't bill

I switched over them after my previous billing provider shut down. I read positive reviews regarding their service and was somewhat familiar with them beforehand. I had several calls with their technical and sales teams before settling down and switching over to them. This was a huge mistake and one that now threatens the very existence of my 10+ year old business.

I use line items on invoices for transparency. Their product cannot handle more than around 20 - 30 lines before their entire system begins to bog down. Add a few hundred and it almost stops working completely. Add a few thousand to one invoice and suddenly your whole account stops working completely. Meanwhile you are given the runaround for months explaining all the things you are doing wrong (none of this is actually correct) and how it puts too much strain on the system. Here's the problem though I can open a spreadsheet and add 65000+ rows and even Excel '97 can handle that just fine on 25 year old Pentium. Chargebee would likely suffer a days long outage if someone could do that because they can't make a system that scales. I have so far lost close to $10000 because of their billing solution that no longer properly invoices half of my customers. Now customer service just copies and pastes the same answer every time I contact them.

Customer service sucks

Customer service sucks. I have been trying to get my gateway account set up properly for weeks with Chargebee but they will only communicate with me through email. They refuse to let me speak with a live agent and customer service number sends me straight to voicemail. I’m at my wits end!

I think ChargeBee has potential but needs work

I think ChargeBee has potential, but it needs work and seems like it is in BETA stage right now and is definitely not a simple out of the box solution for business owners. You definitely need to be quite technical and computer literate to configure and use this service.

If you just want to sell single products on your website with 1 -click and have chargeBee handle the purchase process, then their hosted pages option will work for you.

or if you have a non-online business and want a manual billing system where you manually create clients and manually add orders and setup direct debits.

If however, you want a fully automated and functional shopping cart type system where customers are able to add multiple items to their cart and configure addons/options, then you cannot do this by default and will need a developer to build this functionality for you.

Excellent, great service from the Customer Support Team.

First, Chargebee cares about their struggling entrepreneurs, which is just ridiculously generous given that I've tried out so many billing software solutions and they:

1. Still lack the customer portal aspect (I'm looking at you, Samcart!) where customers can, you know, actually help you out by updating their own billing info and canceling their own subscription without sending you an email and waiting for you to do it.
2. Didn't have a decently designed interface
3. Didn't update clients a day before they would be billed (so they don't get a nasty surprise)

Chargebee has all of that, and much more.. and they let you have it for FREE till you hit $50k! WHAT! I'm so grateful. Being an entrepreneur is hard enough as it is.

The only thing I would still like to see is a one-time purchase option, but other than that, I'm really satisfied. Thank you Chargebee!

Excellent Product and Team!

Chargebee is the best way to start taking subscription payments online. It is extremely fast and easy to set up. Their support team is incredible should you do need help with anything. It's also brilliant at managing all relevant documentation (invoices, etc.), email notifications to all parties, and tax.
