Charlie is so easy to use -both from and admin point of view as well as the end users - which is so important in driving adoption. The team over there are also fantastic - always responsive, friendly and want to help.

Super quick, easy and great value for money. My team love using CharlieHR - it means no more spreadsheets and everything is centralised. The level of customer service is fantastic. I'd strongly recommend the platform to every company that finds HR management painful!

Charlie HR to the rescue!

We have a couple of branches and keeping track of holidays, sickness, compassionate leave etc. was becoming a nightmare! Charlie HR was so simple to set up, integrates with office365 so calendars clearly show when people are off, the right people authorising leave and people only being able to take the leave they are entitled to. Wish I had found Charlie HR sooner!!!

Easy to use, and free, with options for companies that require more from the system to pay for an upgrade.

From the outset Charlie HR was easy and intuitive to set up. Furthermore our staff find it very easy to adopt as well with the minimum (if any training).

We have successfully and easily integrated CharlieHR into our system. The process is really simple and software is great! The help emails are also really useful and prompted us to check things. We love it :-)

I'm honestly so relieved I found Charlie HR as it has enabled me to consolidate all our previous HR systems into one place. Less mistakes, less overlapping holiday with team members. The best feature of all is that it allows employees to take a bit of control themselves, which is never an easy task, but the user interface is simple and easy to use. While I was moving our old system across if I ever had any questions or suggestions the team were always on hand and responded immediately. The fact it syncs with our company slack channel and gmail calendar is a dream. Would definitely recommend Charlie HR!!

From the perspective of an employee using the software on a mobile for the first time, the software is mostly awesome, but there was little to counter my concern that my first experience with this product could be a sophisticated identity theft scam, or be being used by a scammer posing as my employer.

1. It appears my employer was not advised first to communicate directly with employees to advise us that we would get an invitation to use CharlieHR - via CharlieHR. This would have quelled fears about releasing sensitive info to an unknown party. Okay a Charlie generated email apparently sent from my employer was received but its presentation was not consistent with the usual messages from my employer. It seemed to be an indirect communication. Furthermore the info requested is already in my employers possession, so the 'invitation' to send it to an unknown party was of dubious benefit, if not a bit suspicious. Whilst the emails source was familiar the presentation and wording was not. Emails can be sourced anonymously. Maybe the apparent source could be further manipulated too. Had the invitation email carried a message from my employer within it, then the distinctive wording would have been recognised as reasonably authentic.

2. Having started to enter increasingly sensitive details and documents it became evident that reversing the process might be somewhat more impossible than providing it. With a photo of my passport someone could pass as myself. e.g. on blabla car. With my bank details I could loose money. It would have been reassuring to have a 'destroy my data' button accessible from the sites menu. There was a weirdly named 'destroy my session' button. where simply 'logout' would suffice. This is MY data and it makes ME vulnerable so I should be able to delete it from THAT platform.

3. My profile picture was truncated. I elected to send a whole person picture rather than a chopped off head. So the software chopped off the head and showed only the crutch! Congratulations. Furthermore from the mobile this is the only upload that I cannot overwrite. Wonderful. Apparently it is possible to correct this from a laptop.

4. Support outside working hours is not officially available however diligent individuals have kindly responded to my blunt remarks about the issue above. Trying to use the online chat was frustrating too because uncorrected nonsense text would get sent without ever hitting the Send button. When some kind soul tried to help I had long given up and there were no elapsed-time timestamps on any messages to indicate how fresh they were.

5. It seems Charlie is UK based - good - under UK jurisdiction. The secure-by-design page on the website provides links to 3 security certification sites.

This bit of kit is awesome - it's free which makes it very appealing, especially for a small business like us who can't afford to spend money on complex HR systems - and actually don't need them - but more than that its helping us to really think about what information we want and need and how we manage that - and its helping us go digital ! We haven't looked into the paid version yet but probably will in the coming year, however right now this is absolutely what we need - it provides so much and it looks really good too!

I researched a lot of HR software, and for a small business the majority of solutions were expensive and did a lot more than we would use it for. Charlie came along at exactly the right time for us and as it has been developed I can now use it for more and more things. This isn't just about recording holidays and absences, I have migrated across onboarding documents, fit to work notes and set up teams in order to allow managers to authorise holiday requests and free my time up to do more strategic HR work. The guys at Charlie are also really helpful and have listened to suggestions made and have tweaked their software to accommodate. Really couldn't recommend highly enough.

Compared with other HR systems on the market, Charlie HR is a incredible free to use platform which smoothly enables our team to:
- Manage their own annual leave, training leave and 'call in sick'
- Onboard new starters to provide all necessary data and documents
- Store sensitive data and key company documents
- Create quick and accurate payroll updates

It also...

- Provides a clear and simple user interface (which our design/product led team loves)
- Integrates with our team slack channel and gmail calendar
- Reminds and informs key people about key team information (birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, sickness, visa expiries)

For me the implementation of the system was incredibly swift and painless and their client support (Matt) has been a star.

My only flag to anyone considering implementing it is that CharlieHR is a little UK centric right now, but if you're looking for an HR system solution for small to medium sized, UK based teams - you won't regret going with it. Plus... we have offices in the US and Norway and the tool still fits our needs well (and my support tickets are hopefully helping them develop to a global product).

Invaluable tool. Saves us heaps of time! Hurrah for Charlie.
