Great experience

The crew that moved us worked very hard to get everything done with no breakages. Pricing was in line with the industry and was very reasonable.

Theft warning

As the holidays are quickly approaching, I am writing this review to warn anyone considering Charlotte Local Moving for their services. This company is as crooked as they come. I hired them for a simple city move, and my findings of the integrity of this company are bleak. The movers cherry-picked from my very obviously labeled boxes, only my expensive and very sentimental items were stolen. I moved in August, but as I am preparing for the holidays and colder months for clothing, I am finding that more of my belongings have vanished. Initially, I noticed a few boxes were missing, and after discovering I was missing items, I called the owner of the company to figure out where my boxes went, only to hear I am sorry we moved your things, and there's nothing more to say. I did some digging, and an astounding number of boxes were not in my possession, so I disputed the charge with my credit card company. Upon receiving notification of the dispute, I received a threatening message from the owner of Charlotte Local Moving telling me he needed a Venmo or Cash App payment or he would report me to the police. He showed absolutely no remorse or even had the courtesy to tell me he was following up on my concerns. Additionally, one of the guys driving the truck (possibly drunk, a conclusion I have drawn only because of other reviews) completely smashed the brick entrance to my apartment building. I was not notified of this event by my apartment, not by the driver, and they only found out because of the cameras. This incident was not reported to anyone; they had to be called out. Another consideration to be given when considering the integrity of Charlotte Local Moving.
I lost the dispute with my credit card company because I could not get another merchant in the same space to write a letter. Obviously, other companies will not stick their neck out for you for legal reasons. However, All My Sons Moving (a GREAT company) referred me to the NC Director of Transportation, who did inform me that Charlotte Local Moving performed an ILLEGAL move without proper documentation. Charlotte Local Moving is NOT an accredited company on the BBB, and even though they are registered in the state of NC to move, they have chosen not to do it the legal way. Filing a lawsuit wouldn't be worth the $800+ they cost me, plus stolen items, plus a generous $50 tip for each mover. So, writing this review to warn people that Charlotte Local Moving is not any cheaper than any other company, and your driver might show up drunk, and your stuff might get stolen.

Also, the $25 gift cards they dangle for you to write a review never come either.

Here's what the Director of NC Transportation had to say about them:

I'm sorry to hear about your predicament following your move with Charlotte Local Movers. Charlotte Local Movers is currently certified (C-2977) by the NC Utilities Commission (NCUC) to transport household goods within NC. All certified movers are required to abide by the rules and regulations issued in the Maximum Rate Tariff (MRT): STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA (ncuc.net)

The MRT specifies the contract forms that must be used during every regulated move, such as yours. The contract that was issued for your move is not the NCUC approved form, and is not allowable under NCUC guidelines. The validity of the payment amount for services rendered can be subject to an appropriate civil dispute process.

I hope no one has to deal with this situation with this company ever again—happy holidays to all the honest people out there.
