House Deeds
I received a letter stating:-"We plan to store your file for 6 years and at the end of this period the file will be destroyed. If youould like us to send you any original documents retained on file, please let us know as soon as possible" This referred to my recent meetings with Helen Townsend. I affirmed that I would like hard copies. I then received an email asking if I would like my deeds returned to me. This was never requested and a different issue as being an executor of my will you have both my will and deeds for future use when I die. I was not impressed.

Providing an exceptional legal service is something that Chattertons strive to provide to all our clients and receiving such a review is disappointing, especially when no previous intimation of any dissatisfaction has been received and indeed you have thanked us for the service provided. You asked for any original documents to be released to you and were simply asked if you also required your Deeds. As you do not want same, they remain in our secure archive store. This aspect of work was not dealt with by Helen Townsend but rather our support staff, who merely asked for clarification of your instructions in an attempt to assist.

Our lawyer for a recent case was Shilpa Miah. The case proved to be extremely long and drawn out with a certain third party proving to be extremely awkward, but through it all Shilpa worked hard and diligently on our behalf. She was responsive to emails, and happy to meet face to face when that was deemed the best course of action. Her files, which we obtained in full afterwards, were exhaustive in their detail and very accurate. And, at the end of it all, she charged us a very fair and reasonable sum that was the icing on the cake. Highly recommended.

Our fees were not double as you state and there were no hidden costs. Our pricing structure was plainly detailed in our engagement paperwork, which you accepted, and at all times we were transparent as to fees. In addition, there was work done on the file which you were not charged for. Should you wish to discuss the matter further please contact our Risk and Compliance Manager directly.
