We had to renew our mobile phone contracts company wide. Easy to work with, great offers and straight to the point. Thank you Andy for your help.

Call after call after call every time ended up with some un-helpful person who all they could say is open a support ticket! eventually gave up! Tried later to be answered by some artificially inseminated crap that was more than useless. If you didn't give it something it could hang its hat on it ran home to momma with the dummy swinging behind.
I was given the task of taking over an association website that some previous fool had signed up to this rip-off organisation. Yet another do-gooder that knows better than the professional! Trying to explain that the previous account holder had passed away and we were working with very little information just constantly fell on deaf ears. After 3 hours of persistence and going through page after page of information left behind, we eventually found the access code to get into the account independently of their so called award winning help desk. All we want to do is switch the dns to point to a new website. Does their system offer this? NO! Best you can do is put a re-direct on. But then that fails as well and DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY!
Chess is a amateurish disaster.

We've been using Chess for many years, and they've always been incredibly professional to work with. Our current Account Manager, Gareth—who’s the only one I can recall over the years—has been fantastic at handling anything we’ve thrown his way. I’d definitely recommend Chess to anyone looking to have their mobile contracts well managed.

Just got 2 deals sorted from Gareth roper,
Very informative from the start, and delivered what he promised, even talking me through, tariffs abroad etc
Top man to deal with, and when my other phone deal runs out this month I’ll be straight to Gareth to sort

Calm informative approach. I didn't feel too uneducated about technology just slightly but this was my own issue not Michael's.

I can’t recommend Danielle @ Chess enough, just £45 a month and brand new iPhone 16 on unlimited tariff, give her a call.
Thanks once again for your support Danielle

Chess Telecom always take time to understand what I require and come up with a good solution. Gareth Roper has been my contact there for a number of years and I've always found him to be really effective.

Chess ICT told me I couldn’t retain my VoIP number after termination — not because I tried to port it, but because they said it was no longer possible. That consequence was never disclosed, and no effort was made to protect my business continuity or advise me on options.
Due to their broken Direct Debit and online payment systems, I was unable to pay on time. Their portal failed repeatedly, and payment links didn’t work — yet I was still held liable for late payments. I was told to pay manually to bring my account up to date. They gave me a lump-sum figure, which I paid in good faith — only to discover it included a £597.60 termination fee. The actual late invoices totalling £142.22 weren’t included, and I was later threatened with debt collection if they weren’t paid within 48 hours.
Today, I received a further invoice for £1,320, which includes charges for SafeWeb Dark Web Monitoring — a service I never knowingly requested — and an unexplained £1.33 fee, with no breakdown or justification.
Chess also claimed to have contacted me repeatedly — yet I’ve reviewed my phone records, and there are no missed calls or incoming attempts from Chess ICT. Their number is saved and not blocked, confirming no contact was made.
I’ve archived 36 pages of one-star Trustpilot reviews, many from customers facing similar issues: technical failures, misleading payment requests, blocked switching, and aggressive tactics.
If this sounds familiar: ⚠️ Document everything — invoices, emails, screenshots ⚠️ Report to Ofcom: Submit a complaint at OfCom.
Chess ICT’s conduct raises serious questions about compliance, ethics, and basic customer care. If they won’t fix it, regulators must.
