Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful and difficult to reach a real person. They also encountered issues with the booking process, including error messages, incorrect seat allocations, and problems with online functionality. Customers frequently report difficulties in contacting the company, with phone numbers not working and emails going unanswered, making it hard to resolve issues or get refunds. Some people were dissatisfied with the refund policy, noting that requests were often denied, especially without a physical copy of the ticket or if issues weren't reported immediately on-site. Conversely, some customers also noted positive experiences with staff, describing them as friendly and helpful, particularly at specific locations.

Worst customer service

Where do I even start?

Last year my and my partner received emails that the cineworld membership was going up in price and if we no longer wanted our membership we could cancel to not receive the new cost.

I proceeded to email to cancel both memberships and had to send numerous (around 5) emails to cancel it.

I got a generic email to confirm memberships had been cancelled. Then lo and behold I got charged for one membership in January.

I tried to call but they were utterly useless and kept saying they couldn't help and I would need to email. I emailed both customer service emails with all proof of correspondence (and unfortunately they don't chain emails and do they are all separate emails).

They then said (despite evidence), that I never emailed and even if I had I was too late to cancel, which makes so sense as:
A) it was part of their T&Cs due to the price increase that if I cancelled within a certain period I wouldn't be charged, which we did
B) one wasn't charged contradicting their reasoning

Now I just get generic replies that they have now cancelled it and that they won't refund for the false payment made in Jan.

Thier emails are rude, place fault on you and don't accept admin errors on their part.

Awful service, awful team. I will NEVER use cineworld ever again even if it was to be my nearest cinema.

I know they keep going into administration but stealing money and not refunding it is a new low for a company.

If I could give negative stars, I would.

Stinking cineworld customer services

I booked tickets online but unaware that I had the date wrong,so on arrival to the cinema I was informed of my mistake. I had to purchase another batch of tickets to see the film, I think it has been the costliest film I've ever seen at £168 pounds .I was informed by customer services i would not be refunded because I didn't view the film on the date booked. Customer services showed no care and dismissed me off the call without notice. I've learned my lesson, I'll not be using cineworld ever again .

projector issue- screen too small

Bought tickets online to see Avatar after waiting 12 years in anticipation. When the film started it was clear the aspect ratio/ size of the screen was too small. My husband left the film to enquire after it has started and was told there had been a problem with this screen/ projector lens for a while which impacted the size of the screen. This had been an ongoing issue and we were sold tickets without being told it wouldn’t be a full sized screen. The staff said it wasn’t going to be fixed until later in January, yet they continue to sell tickets full price and show the film on the screen that is too small without warning. The staff wouldn’t give us a refund as they said the tills couldn’t process it?

My husband and I were so disappointed that after waiting so long for this movie to be released, we didn’t get the experience we paid for and travelled over an hour to get.

The screen should have been closed or the tickets should have been discounted with a warning that the screen was far too small. It is absolutely outrageous that Cineworld would knowingly undersell people and is planning to continue to knowingly undersell people until the projector issue is fixed.

La Traviata at Ely Cineworld

Ely, Cambs Cineworld
Superb staff, always helpful.they go above and beyond to make each visit enjoyable.
Watched live performance of La Traviata. Fantastic!!!
Paper handouts given by staff to enhance performance. Such a shame it wasn’t better supported, only a handful of people attending.
Thank you Cineworld for an amazing experience

I had to give a one star cos there’s no options for a zero star.
The worse cinema ever. Staff was so rude. Not helpful. Everything we asked was pointed at and we had to walk out 20 minutes after film cos the air conditioning was on a low we nearly got frozen to
Death. No care from staff.
As for customers services in head office David the management was even worse.

For the love of God please update your online booking system so that it actually completes a transaction. Maybe upgrade your servers? The system acts like its going through then hangs after an eternity of "spinning" However if you then go back to try again, the seats you wanted are now blanked out as if sold.
Utter crap.

Very poor customer service.

I went to the cinema in Ashford Kent and booked a film for me and my partner and our 9 year old daughter. We had literally just got back from a trip to Scotland. We got to the cinema and I went to the concessions stall to get a couple of drinks and some snacks, when paying for the items I gave the staff member a Scottish £20 note to which the assistant said they would have to find out if they took that currency. I explained it was a Scottish £20 note and it had Stirling Pounds on the note and I had never known anyone to refuse them before. He came back and point blank refused to take the money which obviously upset my partner and my daughter. If this is the policy of the company then they should look at this problem and check the law. Then they should train there staff with the correct information as I am doubting weather I will take my custom back there again.

Absolutely terrible booking website

Absolutely terrible cinema.

Tried booking online for tickets over 2 days and kept getting all the way through and saying payment failed. No issue with the bank, have tried various cards and browsers. So have given up and chosen something else. Terrible website and when i called the agents aren't allowed to book over the phone either. How can you expect to make any money?? Won't be trying again in the future and will stick to your competitor Odeon.

Cant even book online

Cant even book online. Website crashes and payment fails . I have checked with my bank and there is no problem with my bank account so it is an issue with Cineworld's website. Spent 3 hours on and off today trying to book. Just lost my custom as we will now make alternative plans now. Also wont let me remove payment method from account. Very poorly constructed website
