Horrendous decking Cladco

Brought this new decking end of may ,had it fitted ,looked lovely with grain effect , yet only 3 weeks later the dye or colouring used had bleed out and stained the lot . After attempting to wash down only to leave stain marks and complete colour loss looking nothing like the decking we had laid . This product in my option is mis sold cos it definitely ain’t looking what I purchased. They have said it’s normal for this to happen . And now left with stain marks and big dark patches where the sun loungers are .Avoid this product there’s more out there wish I’d known this hope this is helpful to someone wanting to replace their decking .

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that you’ve been left disappointed with the appearance of your decking boards.

Although ordering via a third party, our Customer Support team arranged a site visit to review your installation in person. After inspecting the boards, it was confirmed that there is no product fault. The changes you’ve experienced are part of the natural weathering process that all composite decking goes through during its early months outdoors.

Composite boards are manufactured slightly darker than their final shade. In the first few weeks after installation, they naturally lighten as they adjust to UV exposure and outdoor conditions. Areas of the deck that are covered by furniture or objects will remain darker until they, too, are exposed, which explains the contrast you’re currently seeing. Over time, the boards will even out and settle into a consistent, uniform shade across the whole deck.

We understand how concerning these changes can look at first, but please be reassured that this is a natural part of the stabilisation process and does not indicate a fault with the product.

All ok until decking boards delivered
Most of the boards were stained and a different colour
No help at all from customer service tried to blame me for incorrect storage
I had only just received them!!
Very poor service will never use them again stay away

FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL HELP

Called in to discuss an order for composit decking - Spoke with Aaron who viewed my drawing and helped compile the list of requirements.
Placed order and delivery was a few days later
Product is excellent (Stone Grey Composit decking) and I'm very proud of the finshed deck which spans a stream.
My quantities for the decking were very accurate and there was no wastage on the boards themselves.
Completed my project and asked if they would accept excess fittings back for a credit. Tracey helped and here was no problem with unopened complete fixing packs .
Again friendly, helpful, and professional.
An excellent product, managed by an excellent team.
Highly recommended. Well worth calling in if you can for a face to face experience!

Poor Customer Service

We were unsure about what decking we needed. So we chatted to one of their helpful advisors.
We ordered what was suggested, it arrived nice and on time, and the delivery driver was brilliant.

However, it turns out that the products we were advised to buy are not compatible with each other.
We now have several concrete blocks that we are unable to use, and nothing to build our decking on.

After contacting support, they admitted the fault was theirs and offered to waive the unnecessary 15% restocking charge, but they expect us to return the concrete blocks ourselves, which would cost us more than they cost in the first place. Considering this is the fault of the sales adviser who sold us incompatible parts, this seems utterly ridiculous.

Edit: Cladco have since responded to my review asking for me to email them. Considering my review mentions that we already have emailed them and their ‘solution’ was unreasonable it’s very clear the review reply was a thoughtless copy/paste job.

My experience

They look great, but there is a couple of things to note.
1 : The 4m decking boards are very heavy, it’s a two man job lifting them.
2 : The are not exactly 4m, we ordered a hundred decking boards and they ranged from 4.001m to 4.008, so it’s best to pick a size ( we chose 3.997m ) to machine them all to. If you don’t it will look a bit wrong.
3 : If you get dirt from the garden on the the Charcoal decking boards it is difficult to get off, we got the decking cleaning fluid but they would not come off. In the end I pressure cleaned them to get it off. It is recommended that you don’t use a pressure washer, but there was no alternative.
4 : We got some light grey decking boards and there was colour variation between the normal boards and the bullnose which was quite obvious. But after weathering for a few weeks the colours were all the same.

None of the above is criticism, it was what I encountered. They look great down and I would recommend anyone who wants to use them to do so.

We appreciate your practical notes on handling, sizing and cleaning — these are all useful considerations for anyone planning a project, and why we aim to provide as much product information as possible on our product pages and data sheets, including the approximate weight of our decking boards.

While our guidance recommends avoiding prolonged direct pressure washing, a pressure washer can be used with great care: ideally with a maximum 2,000 psi, a fan tip of 40–60°, and the head kept 250–300mm from the surface. Always test an inconspicuous area first to reduce the risk of surface damage.

We’re pleased to hear the colour variation you initially noticed between the light grey boards and bullnose edges evened out naturally after a few weeks, and that your decking is now looking great.

Faded decking

Bought a large amount of teak composite decking which was delivered on June 3rd,installed the 1st phase around 3 days later which I must admit looked stunning,started to install 2nd phase 4th August but the difference in colour due to fading is night and day,it does state some fading may occur but the amount is astounding, it looks nothing like the colour we ordered,looks more like a sandy colour, needless to say cladco hasn't been understanding, told me I could buy a tin of restore for £62🙄,not happy at all.

We’ve checked our records and can see that the original order wasn’t placed directly with Cladco, but instead through another supplier. While we’re always happy to provide general product guidance, any order-specific concerns are usually best raised with the company you purchased from so they can support you directly.

With composite decking, some level of colour fade is expected as the boards adjust to their outdoor environment. This usually happens in the first few weeks after installation, especially during warmer or sunnier periods. Because your first phase was laid back in early June, those boards will have already gone through that initial weathering period, whereas the newly installed ones are still in their original state — hence the noticeable contrast.

The boards are manufactured slightly darker to allow for this natural fade, and over time, the colours do tend to settle more evenly across the deck. It’s something that can catch people off guard when installations are spaced apart, and we completely understand how frustrating that can be.

When you spoke with our Customer Service Team, they suggested a finish reviver as a way to help restore colour depth and blend the boards more quickly. We’re sorry this wasn’t the answer you were hoping for — the suggestion was made in good faith, and we’re always here to talk through alternatives or offer further support if needed.

Since your review was posted, you have been offered an upgrade to our ProDeck range, which provides superior resistance to UV fading and staining — something you may wish to consider for future projects.

Disappointed

Delivery was good. However, on installation we noted around 12-15 out of 60 sheets have various amounts of scratches on them. Cladco have yet to offer any form of resolution!

Following your initial contact, we asked for confirmation of the exact number of sheets affected. To date, we’ve not yet received this information. We were also provided with a small number of photos, and we requested further images to help us understand the full extent of the damage. These additional photos were only received yesterday afternoon, after your review was posted.

We’re currently reviewing the images, but as we still do not have a confirmed quantity of the affected sheets, we’re unable to carry out a full assessment at this stage. That said, as a gesture of goodwill and to assist with concealing any visible scratches, we will be arranging a supply of touch-up paint to be sent out to you.

We hope this will go some way toward helping, and should you wish to provide the remaining details, we’ll be happy to revisit the matter further.

Stay away

Stay away. Opted for cladco decking instead of wood. First month. Stains everywhere really easily. 2 chips and needs two repairs, however a repair kit for this is not available.

Extremely frustrating decking order

Unfortunately this will be the last time I use Cladco.
I’ve spent thousands with them previously and assuming the next order with be smoother than the last only to be disappointed.
There boards are reasonably priced but delivery times extortionate. Lead times are ridiculous and sporadic.
My recent order was delayed due to
Stock numbers. That’s fine and was discussed with the sales rep and I paid. He offered a lead time of 3/4 weeks. The sales team said as soon as the stock arrived they’d email me so I had at least as a minimum 1 weeks notice before they dispatch it. I needed that time to schedule plans as I was due to be abroad for a week at the end of the month. The sales guy said he completely understood and put a note on the system.
Long story short 3 weeks later I’m on holiday and I receive a text saying my deckings scheduled for tomorrow. Fantastic!
I call cladco on my holiday speak to the sales team they say they’ll delay it by a week. Brilliant! The customer service id expect.
Couple of hours pass I get a call back. They want to charge me another delivery fee to change it?? I reluctantly decline as they didn’t uphold there end of the deal. (Hundreds of £’s btw for shipping costs)..
she’s says no I completely understand I’m confident we can waiver the cost and rectify the situation. She says she’ll email me if anything changes.
Finally a resolution!
I wake up the next day again on holiday to a missed call. I call back Delivery driver says he’s off loaded all the decking in my front garden. £1500 worth of decking sitting on my lawn now.
No way of me being able to move it as I’m in a foreign country. I’m new to the area I live in so I don’t know people locally that can move it for me (not that they should have too).
Anyway I don’t know if it will be there when I arrive home I can only cross my fingers. It’s caused me so much stress and quite frankly put a bit of a downer on my holiday.
I’m at a loose end now and let’s be frank if it goes missing they’re not taking any responsibility!
The delivery driver said he has constant problems with cladco which I worrying. But he said it’s out of his control! I’m so fed up of this unprofessional decking company! It’s great untill it comes to deliverys times and costs.
They promise the world and don’t follow through.
Very very disappointed.

We understand the frustration this situation has caused you, and we sincerely apologise for the disruption to your plans and the impact on your holiday.

Having spoken to colleagues involved and reviewed the timeline in more detail, we’d like to clarify what happened. Your order was passed to our haulier on 22nd July. At that stage, we had not been made aware of any specific dates to avoid for delivery. The following day, a note was added to your order advising that you were on holiday and unable to receive delivery until after your return. As the order had already been dispatched to our haulier, we contacted them immediately to request a reschedule. They confirmed they would remove the planned delivery and apply a redelivery charge due to the short notice.

We then contacted you to explain the situation. You mentioned that you'd informed a sales team member of your holiday at the time of placing the order. As there had been multiple team members involved in the process, and in light of the miscommunication, we agreed not to pursue the redelivery charge further.

We have since been made aware that, despite our request, the delivery still went ahead on the originally planned date. This was not something we authorised, and we will be raising this with our haulier directly to understand why our instruction to reschedule was not followed.

We fully appreciate the stress this has caused, and we're truly sorry that the handling of this delivery fell short of expectations.

If I could put negative stars I would…

If I could put negative stars I would have done it. Very bad experience with Cladco UK, I placed an order for a decking floor and its underlying and so far everything is fine (in short, 190 pounds for delivery is an authorised theft). I gave all the customer's delivery details in addition to giving my number to be notified of the delivery day All this happened in April. They rely on an external company for the delivery and these without warning anyone try to deliver for the first time without notifying anyone, resulting in a missed delivery because the customer was not at home. We agree on a second delivery and I am informed that the goods will be delivered from 08.00 to 17.00 on a day in June, result they deliver at 7.10 in the morning and the customer refuses the delivery and I who show up at 08.00 in the morning do not find the goods. Third delivery attempt I am notified by the customer that they are about to deliver (again the driver does not call me) I arrive at the place with the goods already deposited on the road (they do not deliver at home and they steal 190 pounds) and I realise that the goods are wrong, so I tell the driver to bring everything back and ask for a refund. I waited more than 1 month to get my money back and they stole 190 pounds of delivery (never returned). Don't buy from this company and from the third world, the customer service is bad and their delivery company is the worst you can have.

Thank you for your feedback, and we’re genuinely sorry to hear how frustrating your experience has been. We completely understand your disappointment, particularly around the delivery process, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused by the repeated attempts.

That said, we do feel it’s important to clarify a few points. Your order was handled by our external delivery partner. While we provide delivery windows and request that drivers call ahead where possible, this cannot always be guaranteed. Delivery was first attempted on 8th May, but the driver was unable to get a response at the property. Following further communication from our team on 20th May, another attempt was arranged.

On 10th June, you requested a refund rather than proceed with another delivery attempt, which we fully understood. To complete that process, we asked for photos of the incorrect goods as part of our standard returns procedure — this helps us resolve issues accurately and avoid further errors. As of now, we’ve not received those images.

We remain happy to assist with resolving this, and a member of our Customer Support team will follow up with you directly.

Finally, while we absolutely recognise your frustration, we must address the language used in your review. Comparing our company or service to the “third world” is inappropriate and goes against the respectful communication we expect on all platforms. Our team works hard to support customers fairly and professionally, and we ask for that same courtesy in return.
