Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 41 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Patients frequently struggled with poor communication, unreturned phone calls, and disorganized administrative processes that left them waiting endlessly for appointments, medical answers, or proper referrals. Billing practices and unexpected charges were another major source of deep frustration, with consumers feeling overwhelmed by confusing invoices and rigid prepayment demands. Some reviewers were happy with dedicated medical staff who provided exceptional care and performed successful, complex procedures. Reviewers also appreciated compassionate individual nurses and doctors who made them feel welcome, offering comforting, professional treatment during critical moments.

Trying to get care at Cleveland Clinic…

Trying to get care at Cleveland Clinic is an awful experience as a patient. Trying to get an appointment with the first available cardiologist for chest pain took 5 months! Apparently, we should just wait to have a heart attack and go to the ER! The doctors are absolutely awful about following up on test results. I waited for 4 days after my ECHO and the doctor would still not respond to my my chart messages to let me know the interpretation of results and whether it was safe to scuba dive. I could not get in touch with anyone at the office to get any answer either. To make matters worse, I wait on hold 10-20 minutes just to speak with an operator when calling the clinic, before being transferred to the correct area, to then wait on hold again. The calling system is the worst I’ve ever encountered in healthcare. Nobody is there to help the patient anymore. It’s just seeing as many patients as possible to collect as much money as possible for the hospital, without any quality for patients. This system is the worst!

Excellent Experience in London

I was amazed to see all the poor reviews for the Cleveland Clinic. Our son was recently refered there (London, UK) by Prof Sharma of CRY and he was treated by Dr Saba and his team for an ectopic heartbeat. The experience was professional and reassuring throughout with Dr Saba taking great care to explain evrything simply and clearly afterwards, with appropriate follow up. The facilities, care and service provided were all excellent. Thank You

Unprofessional

I went in to get procedure done by Dr Baez. He ordered four test which where done right away. After two weeks the Dr still hadn’t read the test. I had contacted his office on numerous occasions. Final after two weeks they informed me that was changing practices and wouldn’t read my test and I would have to pick a different doctor and start all over. To get appointment and test had taken two months. I blame Dr Baez for not being up front or professional and Also Cleveland Clinic. Thank goodness I didn’t need open heart surgery!!

Exceptional Experience with Dr. Nadeem Mushtaqto express my sincere…

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding care provided by Dr. Nadeem Mushtaq during and after my recent bunion surgery.
From my initial consultation to the follow-up appointments, Dr. Nadeem Mushtag demonstrated exceptional professionalism, expertise, and empathy. They took the time to thoroughly explain the surgical procedure and what to expect during the recovery process, which greatly alleviated my concerns.
The surgery itself went smoothly, and Dr. Nadeem Mushtaq was always available to address any questions or concerns I had throughout my recovery. Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring the best possible outcome were evident in every aspect of my care.
Thanks to Dr. Nadeem Mushtaq skillful approach and personalized care, I am now experiencing significant relief and improved mobility. The recovery has been much more comfortable and quicker than I anticipated, and I attribute this success to their expertise and meticulous approach.
Additionally, the entire office staff was welcoming and supportive, making each visit a positive experience. The level of care and consideration extended to me was truly exceptional.
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Nadeem Mushtaq to anyone in need of bunion surgery or any related foot care. Their dedication and skill have made a remarkable difference in my life.
Thank you, Dr. Nadeem Mushtaq, for your outstanding care and for helping me get back on my feet!
Warm regards, Rosa Mas

Failing on all levels

Received a invoice today September 2024 for a procedure in December of 2022. I have no chance to file this with my Section 125 nor was I notified throughout the past 21 months by the Clinic. This appointment was the result of an internal medicine physician's 8 specialist referral for a sinus infection. The specialist Physician apologized that I was a victim of Cleveland Clinic Politics - 8 referrals. Unless you have a serious diagnosis, avoid the politics and money grab. This is far from word class care. Moving to UH and AJU Medical Center.

Plz do not trust the Cleveland Eye…

Plz do not trust the Cleveland Eye Clinic . They are a big operation working for the CEO’s and CFO’s and their families to take fancy vacations on big yachts and buy fancy diamonds from NYC and Los Angeles.
I personally saw them in a yatch docked @ San Diego Bay . Saw spoilt brats of CEO and his wife dropping in diamonds and fancy bags .
Trust me ! I have never given an 1star for any business operation , but Cleveland Eye Clinic Systems , operating out of Ohio and the Midwest , is as shady as it gets . I want my money back . Full Refund of .$ 1000 + and counting . Enough is Enough !!!!
Signing off as Dr & Mrs . Abdul T Razack of Lorain County , Ohio , USA ! God Bless America !

Shady

My experience with the doctor was great, but everything else was a nightmare. Prices were never discussed with me and I was assured that my insurance would be covering it when I did ask. My insurance did not pick up my 3,000 dollar bill at first like they said. On top of that I received an invoice that my lab results were a 400 dollar charge and then the next month was billed for the same lab appointment but the price changed to an 800 dollar charge. When I called billing to explain that, that doesn't seem right, I was told that there was nothing she could do to change the codes that were submitted (even though the codes were changed to charge me more). It is impossible to talk to someone that is helpful because they either put you on hold for 15 minutes or you can't talk to the people that actually gave you the service. It is sad because I actually really liked the doctor, but unfortunately will never be returning again because of the back end stuff that I have been dealing with for over 2 months.

Choose a different hospital system

We've loved our provider, but in the past few years, the whole Cleveland Clinic system has just become a poop-show. Used to be able to call after hours and talk with an actual provider in the practice; now I wait on hold for anywhere from 15 minutes to 30+ (finally giving up and just hanging up) to speak to a nurse that apparently is just Googling symptoms and finding questions to ask from there. It's honestly less than useless. And then, when I try to contact a Cleveland Clinic urgent care for after hours support, no one answer (yes, within their business hours). Literally waited for an hour, even called back to make sure I didn't have the wrong number, and no one answered. I eventually called a UH urgent care and spoke to a real, live, helpful professional in under a minute. What a disappointment. Not to mention we find it harder and harder to see our actual provider at the practice unless it's scheduled months ahead of time.

My VA hosp referred me to the Cleveland Clinic…

I was referred to the Cleveland Clinic North, Stuart, FL via my West Palm Beach VA Hospital Community Service and filled out a pre-appointment form , detailing my diagnosis of paralytic ileus that I had been afflicted with over the past 5 months since I was discharged from a blocked intestinal track that had opened up (confirmed later by a CAT scan at the VA Hospital).

My first appointment at CC North was with a Kevin Wissinger, MD (a general surgeon rather than a G.I. specialist) who asked me "What brings you here" indicating he had not read my pre-appointment detailed medical report. The only thing he did for an examination was to shove his hand into my herniated intestinal protrusion that caused the first serious pain since it developed over 50 years ago.

He then referred me to an appointment with a "GI Specialist" (Gastroenterologist) but instead - turned out to be Jingyi Duan, PA).

Later - I was billed $300 for this initial "referral" interview session.

My next appointment was with what I understood to be a Gastroenterologist - but instead was Jingyi Duan, PA and as in my first interview, she asked what brings you here?" suggesting she had not read my detailed account of my paralytic ileus.

I described in detail how I have been managing it.

Without any examination, she began suggesting lay treatments for normal constipation: I could try a potty stool and try laxatives. I explained I had tried all that and was using Milk of Magnesia every 3rd day, drinking lots of liquids and avoiding all the foods that might be hard to digest. I asked her to exam my abdomen and lay prone on the examination bench and she felt around for about a minute without any comment. She then wrapped up our session by recommending I try MiraLax instead of Milk of Magnesia (and take it every 4 days instead of the 3 day interval I was using with Milk of Magnesia).

She mentioned I could schedule follow up appointment in several months (but I declined as there was nothing to suggest I would receive any real help for my condition).

Later I was billed $630 for this appointment.

At a cost to the VA of about $1000, I received no advice to manage my paralytic ileus beyond what is widely available online for treating constipation.

Other medical references online for addressing chronic paralytic ileus involve blood tests for infection risks, checking potassium, etc. levels and invasive surgery.

Beware!!

Beware! Dr. Vincent Boytim is one doctor that I would NOT want to recommend. The physical was not done well, and he did NOT listen to me. He ordered the WRONG test and would not admit it even after I contacted the Ombudsman's office. Now I am left with a hefty bill and need to order new tests with a NEW doctor. Shame on you. Don't talk down to me. Get off your righteous pedestal and remember that you are providing a service to your patients. Wow! Cleveland Clinic is supposed to be top-notch. I guess they have good and bad doctors like everyone else.

Dr. Margaret Tsai

Dr. Margaret Tsai (Amherst, OH) is a wonderful doctor. So wonderful, in fact, that it next to impossible to make or change and appointment. HOWEVER - I have had THREE appointments canceled with her since April of 2023. Each time, I reschedule, the next available is months away. She canceled again today (25 July 24) and the next available isn't until Feb 2025!!! That's a SEVEN MONTHS from today!!! What kind of doctor does that? As nice a person as she is - I'm done with her...

Worse than before I went

I made the appointment with CC in Weston because I have long COVID and post concussion. I was matched with a NP who was not familiar with those diagnosis. I have migraines so she concentrated on 'headaches'.
We did go over a few other things, but her focus was headache.
I looked at my MyChart and saw she had said neurological tests were normal but she did not do them, this was so important because I would have failed them. She told me I was too complicated and referred me to another doc, a headache specialist. I spent so much money coming to Fl and I am so confused.

If I could give a zero star I truly would

If I could give a zero star I would.
Very rude staff called shamilla. She was trying to insert my daughters canulla. Before inserting the Butterly. I asked if the vein is good. She said very aggressively "WAIT" . I said don't speak to me like this I am only asking you if it is a good vein . SHE SAID I AM TELLNIG YOU WAIT AND DONT TALK. I was so baffled on how she has the odasity to speak to anyone like this. I said excuse me I am a patients mother, have respect. Please answer my questions very simply. yes or no .She them became very rude. I like your daughter more, I have done her canula before, I dont like you . I said exactly you fail over 2 times every day and my daughter doesn't say as she is frightened of you bullying her. Ofcourse she failed yet again because she was in a hurry to go home. Shift finished. She didn't do the canula abused me and left. You know what confuses me how she gets away speaking to patients parents like this. How does she treat the patients.
No customer service on how to speak to patients or patients parents. So rude , aggressive .
Absolutely appalled and shocked.
