What a fantastic afternoon at coda…

What a fantastic afternoon at coda falconry. The birds were just amazing especially the harris hawk vega. Sarah jane, Emily and Tom were very welcoming and made myself and my daughter very comfortable and at ease. Tom was especially great he was so informative and passionate about his work and his knowledge about the birds especially the harris hawk was second to none. Keep up the good work you gave us an amazing experience.

Disorganised, Dismissive and Discourteous.

We were gifted a voucher to use with Coda Falconry. Right from the start we had a sense of disorganisation.

When we made our original availability enquiry, we were informed that the dates we wanted weren't available so we rearranged our schedules to fit the dates Coda Falconry had free.

We then received an email stating that our original dates were available and we should contact them to confirm the booking. No explanation as to why the dates had changed or why we were informed something completely different over the phone.

We rearranged our schedule, again, so that we could make the new booking (as this was our original and preferred date) only to be told that we'd have to re-arrange, again, due to a water issue with their building.
We rearranged, once more, only to have that cancelled due to another park issue.

I communicated with the director of Coda Falconry explaining the issues we've experienced with the ongoing confusion around dates and the difficulties this was causing with work; having to constantly reschedule (4 times in total).
I found the director to be quite un-empathetic - perhaps because it was a gift voucher rather than paid directly to them- I'm not sure- but there was a distinct lack of authentic care about our experience or whether we booked with Coda Falconry or not.

Fortunately we were able to redeem our voucher with another company who were refreshingly warm and genuinely invested in having us have a wonderful experience with them.
If you're gifted a voucher, do try to exchange/redeem it for another company if you have a similar encounter, to us, with Coda Falconry.

What a truly disappointing experience.

Hi Ginger, I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed - without knowing the exact booking details i'm unsure as to which experience this is referring to. As you mentioned a water issue, I assume that you were booked in for summer last year when we had moved location. We couldn't allow customers on site as the water for the venue wasn't turned on and we did communicate this to all of our customers and would seem yourselves too. This wasn't something within our control unfortunately and we had to rebook our customers in for a later date.

I would imagine that your original booking was for our old Lee Valley site and again, we had to move location that was out of our control and set up at the new venue so we couldn't have customers in as the site was being built.

We are always customer focused and very happy to accommodate our guests but on this occasion, it would appear that you were trying to book in at a time when we were at the mercy of a new building project and a huge move so apologies if you didn't receive the service you expected.

Delightful and great fun

6 adults on the half day experience. We had a great time. The birds were enthralling and the team so knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. The woodland walk was a remarkable thing to do. Heartily recommended

THE place to go for raptor lovers

I had a full day falconer experience at Coda falconry centre on the 20th August, and I loved it.

Coda falconry is an incredible blend of passionate staff and extremely well trained birds of prey for a truly unforgettable and treasured experience. I have been to many different raptor centres across the UK since the age of 6 years old and this is by far the closest I have ever been to a raptor. I have had experience in holding over 60 different birds of all different species at various zoo experiences and bird of prey displays and these are by far the best trained not to bite or gouge with their talons, with some of the more naturally nervous raptors such as the steppe eagle who are normally not held at displays, being of an entirely different personality at coda! I received a scratch from a raptor before, but at coda, it seemed like urie the steppe eagle was trying not to scratch me, he was an extremely gentle bird, as were all of them there. All of their birds have their own unique success stories too, having made a development from where they were, such as urie the steppe eagle and possibly some of the Harris hawks who had been mistreated or neglected in the past but were very clearly allowed and encouraged to recover by the dedicated staff at coda falconry.

Elliot was lots of fun and engaged us all with tons of facts and stories of the raptors past ventures while having a silent appreciation of the atmosphere of the audience/ experience falconer day. I am a quiet individual and rather shy, it was easy for others to push in front of me and claim a turn, but Elliot really picked up on this, so I was still able to hold the birds as much as some of the more charismatic visitors. Emily was also a lovely falconer, she was informative and clearly shared a deep connection with the birds such as Dusk, the friendly young barn owl. Sarah made her debut with urie the steppe eagle, and is definitely fond of him! Giving us all a detailed analysis of the life of a steppe eagle and how the centre works whilst keeping it relevant and interesting, something that is often missed. Finally Dave, who is a gentle soul, always there for any questions that you have, and explains the falconers knot really well! With these four expert falconers, it was truly enthusing day, I saw no glassy eyes in the audience all of the way through the day.

Over all, a wonderful experience with truly passionate falconers. I wanted to write this review so that other people can share in the beauty of this charming little falconry centre.

Coda Falconry is beautiful

Coda Falconry is beautiful! Staff are amazing and very friendly. I am amazed at the bond and trust between staff and birds especially LOKI the raven who my experience was booked with!. My booking experience was straight forward and personal and even though I had to cancel due to being unwell with covid I was very promptly reassured and my booking rearranged. I also got to see the owls in their collection which was not expected and a real treat.
Paul and Emma were lovely and even though I am sure they have to go through all info every time someone visits I did not feel that we missed out on anything as they were so kind and informative.
Beautiful area also for a lovely day out and LOKI was the best!
I have had other experiences like this but this was the best experience for me so far.... thoroughly enjoyed it....

Please support this wonderful business as they are so important and do so much for wildlife with such a passion.....

Thank you LOKI for being the star you are! And seeing your fluffy head and amazing sounds. I WILL BE BACK!

Introduction to Owls was GREAT!

Booked as a present from my partner. First date got cancelled because of the evil ‘C’ but when we did go, it was brilliant. Despite the rubbish weather and the obvious COVID restrictions to keep us all safe, I thoroughly enjoyed getting that close to a beautiful barn owl, something I’d never have been able to do otherwise. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and being an owl novice, I learnt a lot.
If you’ve never tried anything like this before, I can thoroughly recommend the introduction to owls, great fun!

Booked a two hour owl experience at…

Booked a two hour owl experience at beginning of this year through buy a gift ( thats yet another poor experience) - difficult to get a date, they are all mid week bookings (no good when you go to work to pay for such treats) - two weekends are shown for August - I booked the later of these - 26th August - yet to happen

nothing heard from Coda Falconry - indeed they appear to be part timers and inexperienced at dealing with customers ie they dont seem to want to reply at all

I recently chased about this weekend experience - no response - its only days away

nothing at first glance re covid restrictions on there website - searching many pages and scrolling down, you find a statement re covid and all bookings cancelled until 2021 - why wasnt I told ????????????

No customer service to place such an important message on the front page - ill advised customer practice to let confirmed booking customers that there booking is cancelled and what options might be avialable

Ive had successive probelsm with this company througfhout the year - cannot put customers into there mindset - my advice to all, dont go here - dont bother - you will not be treated with respect and I certainly dont know how I will get my money back

there are other places to visit - dont waste your money - you are not treated with respect as they simply just want your money

shame for the owls, but if they close down due to lack of customer service, the owls will be saved and be placed elsewhere who can look after them and the customer

save your moiney - use it wisely elsewhere - thios company want your money but dont realise they need to return a service

the response and email returned from Coda demonstrates and proves my point - claims she has pasted detail re coviod on her website - I checked before I left trustpilot review and since having a nonsensicle return ..check the website little girl, check the icon tabs along the top - open each page and more so the front page which any viewer/customer would first seek ................... NOTHING THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also with a confirmed booking for this saturday, no email to me to cancel the event

They have taken the money, Ive had difficulty in booking due ot lack of customer beneficiry dates and no indication that they are closed ---

Toomuch thinking of birds and not enough thinking about your paying customers

As I previously stated, I have proven my point ... the compnay has no interest/focus on th ecustomer an dprobven that they do not communicate

There are other places to have same experience - why bother with a thoughtless lack of provider with yoiur money

Hi Mike,

When I saw your review on here initially, it was a huge surprise as we have award winning customer service so I wasn't sure what had happened here. Then I realised - you have got the wrong end of the stick and simply misread what was on our website and instead of contacting us directly to clarify, you wrote a very strange review on here.

I will address your points thoroughly so that other readers will understand what has actually happened as we certainly hold our customers and our birds welfare in the highest regard.

1) We are open for experience days, you are booked in for Saturday as planned and that hasn't changed - if it had changed, we would have contacted you. You were sent a booking confirmation email on the 24th February 2020 at 15:03 which clearly states all the information that you required for the day. We send this email to all of our customers and it also has our direct contact information at the bottom should you need to contact us so we are always there should you need to talk to us about your booking.

2)The paragraph that you read on our website is as follows: ** DUE TO COVID-19, LEE VALLEY PARK FARM WILL SADLY REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL 2021. YOU WILL THEREFORE NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE BIRD OF PREY SHOWS AS NO GENERAL PUBLIC ADMISSION IS CURRENTLY BEING ALLOWED. ALL OF OUR EXPERIENCE DAYS THAT ARE PRE-BOOKED ARE STILL GOING AHEAD AS PLANNED AS WE ARE OPEN WITHIN THE FARM ** This relates to our public shows being closed as the farm is closed....I do not understand how you drew the conclusion that our experience days are closed as you can see, it says that our experience days are going ahead as planned. A simple phone call to us would have put your mind at ease.

3) You emailed us yesterday afternoon (17th August) at 14:27 -we have 24 hour response policy. This is because we are flying birds and completing experience days between the hours of 10am - 6pm so it's almost impossible to respond on the same day as an email which I think any reasonable person could understand. You have however, been emailed twice today and we tried to call you but you are not responding to any of our attempts to get in contact with you to see if you still want to come along on Saturday. We would appreciate a response so that if you are planning not to come, we can give your slots to someone else. As you mentioned, we do book up very quickly as we are a popular customer attraction and yes....weekends book up first especially in the summer! Due to obvious reasons, people who work book up on weekends, we have small group bookings and we have a huge amount of vouchers being sold so I'm sure you can appreciate why you had to wait for a weekend booking.

4) I'm not sure how you draw a comparison between you making a mistake and misreading information on our website to our animal welfare as you haven't even stepped on our premises yet so I won't spend too long on this point as I assume it's just a spiteful remark and that's your prerogative - it's certainly not behaviour that we condone or accept. Our animal welfare is governed by a zoo licence which is the highest level of welfare guidelines you can have in the UK and everyone that comes and visits us remarks on how wonderful the birds are and how well they are kept.....there's no where else in the world that would look after them as well as us and thankfully, we show no signs of shutting down just yet :)

Hopefully you will get in touch soon and we can resolve your booking either way - we left you a voicemail and emails so please respond to either at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,
Sarah-Jane
