Cohabs great experience!

I spent 6 months in Brussels several years ago and I came back for 6 months in Paris from January 2025 and I found the same spirit, a second family!
Perfect living environment, quick, seamless and high quality services: unforgettable living experience, thank you Cohabs!

My amazing experience with Cohabs

I have been living at Cohabs for almost a year now and it has been so wonderful. I moved to New York without knowing anyone in the city, but have never felt lonely. From my arrival on, my house and the entire Cohabs community felt like a family. The people working for Cohabs are amazing and have created this great community. I join the events they organize whenever I can and they are amazing (wine and cheese evenings, Halloween party, cooking workshops...). Also, the monthly brunch makes everyone in the house so happy.

The house I live in is brand new and has everything and even more than I need. It is clean (cleaners come every week) and when something is broken, maintenance fixes it asap. It is a luxury that so many things are taken care of for you.

If you are looking for amazing housing with wonderful people, I strongly recommend Cohabs. I have made friends from all over the world, which is one of the best things one can have.

Great way to settle into a new city!

Moving to a new city can be really overwhelming, but Cohabs made the transition so much easier for me. I've met amazing friends through the community - it's incredible how quickly you can build connections when you're living with like-minded people. I never feel alone anymore, which was honestly my biggest worry about relocating.
What I really appreciate is how Cohabs handles all the house management stuff. They take care of expenses, cleaning arrangements, and all those day-to-day things that can be such a hassle when you're trying to settle in. It lets me focus on exploring the city and building relationships instead of worrying about bills and chores.
If you're moving somewhere new and want to skip the lonely apartment life, I'd definitely recommend giving Cohabs a try. It's been a game-changer for my experience in New York.

BED BUGS! And not a lot of help!

BED BUGS! My daughter moved her im Sep 2024 and within days started to get bites on her face amd back. Whne we told cohabs they tried telling us that if it was bed hugs it must have been us. After calling round (almost a week after reporting it) the experts found the bed bugs coming out of the wood. We had to push for new bedding and pick up the cost of cleaning all clothes. Fast forward to today and they are back! Nobody answers calls and getting anyone to actually work and do the job of looking after the cohab residents is impossible. As a mum of a young foreign student, we chose cohabs because it was supposed to be safe and have onsite maintenance. But this is not true. Mice in the kitchen, washing machines that keep breaking, parties being thrown and nobody from cohabs actually taking concerns or bed bugs seriously! I would never use Cohabs ever again.

We requested the help of professionals and a detection canine, and again, no signs of bedbugs were found.

Cohabs is Great… Until There’s a Problem

I lived with Cohabs for 5 months, and while I loved my roommates and the concept of co-living, I absolutely cannot recommend this company.

Living with them is great unless something goes wrong. Cohabs takes no accountability and fails to resolve issues proactively. One of the most serious problems was an aggressive roommate who posed a threat to both people and the property. Despite multiple complaints from several roommates, Cohabs did nothing. I ultimately had to move to a different room on another floor because I felt unsafe—only to find out they even increased the rent from the previous tenant.

If everything goes smoothly, you might enjoy the experience. But if you ever need real support, don’t expect Cohabs to step in. I would strongly advise looking for a more responsible co-living company.

Please know that we took your concerns seriously from the moment they were reported. Our team made multiple efforts to address the situation, including reaching out directly to the other member involved, as well as coordinating with external contacts when necessary. In the end, this member’s contract was not extended at Cohabs. While we understand the resolution may not have been as swift or complete as you hoped, we did our best within the limits and our legal options to improve the situation.

Our members’ comfort and well-being in our community are very important to us, and we're always working to learn from experiences like this to do better moving forward.

Scammed in Paris

Here is my terrible experience. I was looking for a house in Paris, where the manager is Theophile, and it seems that is impossible to talk to someone else.
He lied about the room features, he told me that it has a private bathroom but once I arrived I discovered I had to share the toilet with 4 people and the shower with 3, and downstairs.
I unfortunately had already paid (deposit, rent and member ship fee). I wanted to leave the house, so Theophile promised me the refund, but it has been 2 months, he's ignoring my calls and messages. I'm still waiting for 2'000€. He also sent me a fake tracking number for the bank transfer: a lier and really unprofessional.

The best staying solution

I’m really enjoying my stay at Cohabs. Besides having lovely and cozy houses, the Cohabs community is super efficient, friendly and helpful if you have any kind of issue during your stay. I think they are super efficient and trustworthy. I really recommend Cohabs!

I joined cohabs being new to NYC

I joined cohabs being new to NYC, having some distance friendships in the city but looking to have solid relationships I can build as I plan to stay for some time. Not only does my house feel like a home and looked exactly like the photos but the friendships I have made here will last a lifetime!

Build a community of awesome friends instantly

I’ve been living in a Cohabs house in Brooklyn for about a year and it’s been an amazing experience. Everyone in the house is extremely welcoming and friendly so it is the perfect environment to make friends and build a community way faster than by yourself. The houses are beautifully furnished, clean, well designed and the Cohabs team is very reactive when any issue arises in the house. I would recommend it to anyone when moving to a new city or even in your own city if you're trying to meet new people!

I had a wonderful stay with cohabs in…

I had a wonderful stay with cohabs in one of their NYC houses! The building was beautiful and the room I stayed in was very cozy. Once a month cohabs provides a breakfast for you and your housemates to make and enjoy together - we woke up to a bag of fresh groceries delivered to the house and had a great time cooking and eating on the patio together. I'm excited to stay with cohabs again in the future!

Cannot recommend

Lived in Passage du Nord in Brussels. Very thin walls between rooms but I was most disappointed in the poor administration and communication (no one answers your emails except an overworked community manager). Systems are incredibly flawed: everything from signing the contract to paying rent (which the system doesn't register). No communication about payback of the deposit and when it finally happens the amounts are very wrong. Super disappointing experience.

Passage du Nord is inherently an older, historic building and the team has done everything they can to improve soundproofing and comfort while not taking away from the building’s heritage.
We regret that our communication was sometimes delayed; normally, certain departments should receive emails from the community and members and that has since been remedied. Very nice houses, but systems/comms can use improving

The houses are quite nice considering that so many people are living in them. Of course with that come the everday headaches of people who don't clean up after themselves, but overall the people you meet if you're relocating or new to a city really makes up for the smaller hassles that you find in any co-living situation. I really enjoyed the house itself. It's also nice that they provide brunch once a month and coffee (although our coffee supply ALWAYS ran out before the end of the month). I loved the rooftop and parties, and general social experience of cohabs.

The main complaint I have is their systems are still very buggy and speed at resolving complaints are sub-par. I continually received emails saying I hadn't paid rent, when in fact, I had, and now it's been over a month since moving out and they still have not figured out how to return my deposit money to me. I also asked about cancelling my personal cleaning add-on (since my room was so small and I could easily handle it myself) to which I was told to cancel it in the app, which I did. However I still then had cleaners coming to clean it, and was charged accordingly. Also for the price, they should really have cleaners come for the main house at least 2x a week. The only person you can contact to solve any problem is very slow to respond and they don't seem they have a general customer support contact anywhere. So if these types of issues could improve, the overall experience would be 5 stars easily.

Regarding the coffee supply, it’s intended to complement the monthly breakfast rather than to be refilled as part of the shared supplies. We’ll make sure to clarify this better to avoid any misunderstanding.

About your concerns with the property support: we understand how frustrating it can be to deal with delayed responses. While we strive to resolve issues as quickly as possible, some cases can be more complex—like the deposit refund and cleaning pack adjustment. We review each case and then take the necessary actions. The confusion around payment reminders seems to have been due to a discrepancy in the cleaning pack fees which were eventually resolved as part of your deposit.

In regards to the refund of your deposit, we sincerely apologize again for the delay you occurred. This was a manual process involving multiple checks, but managing this directly with you ensured a prompt solution.

Finally, we’ve noted your suggestion about increasing the frequency of house cleaning. While our current schedule aims to strike a balance, we’ll take your feedback into account as we work to improve the experience of our members.

Loved the experience

I stayed from October 2023 till Oct 2024. It was a great experience. It helped me a lot in feeling home when I first moved to Paris. Flatmates are like minded international /international French, a great community. The house itself is amazing. I organized many parties and the friends are with no exception amazed by the view from the rooftop.Location is great, super quiet but also very close by to boulangeries/boucherie/supermarket/gym, and of course the park and the canal.
Cohabs are also good in maintaining or fixing things while needed.
Would recommend!!

Had a terrible experience living in one…

Had a terrible experience living in one of their mansions in Brussels. The acoustics of the house were very bad, there was too much noise that wouldn’t let you relax at any moment, and this is also because they pile up to 16-18 people in houses which cannot accommodate this number of people. The rooms they offer do not meet the standards of good & healthy living conditions, while their prices are unjustifiably high. They also don’t take into consideration the dynamics of the house in terms of the people they bring together (age, background, personality), leading to incompatible personalities, lifestyles and behaviours. They also have hidden cameras installed in the house, enabling spying practices from individuals which are assigned to take allegedly the role of “moderator”. This can lead to unfair targeting, harassment, bullying & victimisation of people with detrimental consequences for the individual. My room was also violated on several occasions. Avoid by any means this company!!!

We try our best to insulate our buildings so that sound is not too much of an issue. You were aware of the pricing before staying with us and we do our best to find the best homes for the members that come stay with us.
We conduct calls with all our members before they join to find them the best possible house. However, we cannot 100% guarantee the perfect fit every time and the harmony of a house is dependant on everyone who lives there.
The role of the house ambassador is to be a point of contact between the members and Cohabs in order to facilitate communication and help the community as efficiently as possible.
Cohabs has never and will never install cameras inside our homes. No one is a spy, and no one has been asked to “moderate” the community within our homes.
We tried our best to communicate with you about your situation. When asked for proof of the harassment, bullying, and victimization you mentioned you did not elaborate. To our knowledge, no one ever violated your privacy or your room and this is against what Cohabs is all about. We’re very sad that you felt this way about our stay, and you know you can reach out again if there’s anything else we can help you with.
