While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

My experience with Coinbase highlights several structural drawbacks.
Fees are consistently higher than most competitors, especially for retail users. Over time, this creates a clear disadvantage.
Asset listings are often delayed or selective, limiting access to opportunities already available elsewhere. This restricts market participation without clear justification.
As a centralized platform, users do not have full control over their assets while funds are held on the exchange, introducing counterparty risk.
Additionally, Coinbase plays an active role in shaping regulation. This raises valid concerns about whether decisions consistently prioritize users or corporate interests.
Overall, functional but not competitive compared to lower-cost, more open alternatives.

It’s all great…Until you try to get some of your cash out of your account. Then you are going to have multiple bots telling you why you can’t have any of your deposit withdrawn.
Yes, Coinbase responded to this review, giving me more BS stories about when my funds will be sent back to me. Also, take a look at their reviews on Trust Pilot; every one of their 4-star reviews are set up by them.
Bottom line, they still have my money, DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!
VERY DISHONEST AND DISAPPOINTING.

Coinbase is one of the most unreliable platforms among the top-tier exchanges I’ve used. The only practical use case I see is purchasing their wrapped Bitcoin.
The platform is plagued with persistent bugs. In my case, I was repeatedly required to reconnect my wallet during withdrawal, even though it had already been successfully linked multiple times. As a result, I have been unable to withdraw my funds for over 24 hours.
The user experience is inconsistent and unnecessarily complicated. Compared to other leading exchanges, the process here is significantly less stable and intuitive.
If I did not specifically need their wrapped Bitcoin product, I would not use this platform.
Overall, my experience was positive, but there were multiple bugs during the withdrawal process. Fortunately, the issues were eventually resolved, and the withdrawal was completed successfully.
That said, I would strongly encourage Coinbase to address these technical problems so that transactions can be completed smoothly on the first attempt. Improving reliability would significantly enhance the user experience.

Such a scam, I uploaded my ID multiple times and every time it says part of it is missing. Trust me DO NOT use coinbase as they just lock you out of your account once you buy crypto. They don't allow me to change any details even though I've had a change of name and informed them of this. Absolutely trash crypto trader honestly just avoid it like the plague.
Won't accept my passport image and won't let me do my change of name by deed poll.

I have been a Coinbase customer since 2013. About a month ago, I received a notice that I needed to supply some information to be able to continue using Coinbase. The next time I tried to log in, a new page popped up with what should have been straightforward KYC questions. When I said I was retired, though, that wasn't good enough. They wanted to know where I used to work and asked for copies of old paystubs. (I've been retired for 8 years, so that clearly has no relevance to my current finances.) I replied that I was self-employed, and they asked me to document who my clients were. Completely irrelevant. And, again, extremely irrelevant after 8 years.
After that, it got weird.
They kept coming back with more and different questions. By the end, they had asked for bank statements, brokerage statements, copies of wills or other documentation of inherited money, and--I am not kidding--a letter from my spouse stating how much money she gave me every month to invest at Coinbase!
On top of that, the language of the requests got progressively less coherent. I wish I had thought to copy them all, but here is their final question before I gave up: "If you used your spouse income into your coinbase account kindly provide us the SOF & SOW documentation of your spouse along with the bank statement which highlighting your credit details of your spouse income." That is an exact quote.
Coinbase support was NO HELP. Today I wasted an hour with a support agent who told me she also helped with KYC. She acted sympathetic but offered no help. Essentially, she told me that these were normal KYC requests and that I should answer them. Look at that request that I quoted above. Does that look normal to you? Could you answer it?
I decided I had wasted enough time and emptied my Coinbase account.
March 30 update and message to Trustpilot:
I received an email from Trustpilot saying Coinbase had responded to my review and that I must respond to their response or my review would be taken down. Coinbase's response was to say that they were "unable to locate your account." What? They asked for my "case number," email address, and phone number. As for a case number, if there is one, they have not shared it with me. As for my phone number and email address, after having my account for 13 years, they clearly have this information. If they can't find it, that should a huge red flag to other Coinbase customers or potential customers. Of course, they could find it--they sent me another email about failing to complete KYC. I can only interpret this a a disingenuous attempt to make my review disappear, hoping that I would not respond to their bogus request. I hope that Trustpilot finds a way to discourage companies from using such underhanded tactics to make negative reviews disappear.
