Monopoly Events - Comic Con Liverpool Reviews 

Less than a week ago, I was abroad in Liverpool for the sake of going to Comic Con Liverpool and I enjoyed it alot and I've had the best time of my life meeting Jim Cummings (one of my very favourites), Erika Harlacher, Sarah Miller-Crews and John Cleese, I'll definitely go again if Comic Con Liverpool and Monopoly events bring the Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain casts next year.

Monopoly Events always run a fantastic comic con, and I like going. The guest lineup is always amazing, there's more than enough to see and do, and they're broadly very well organised.
The 5th star of the review is there for when some of the queue management is improved for the guests not in the main arena/area. I sadly spent 90% of my day queuing for just 2 things for my last 2 comic cons (an autograph and a photo, and most of that time was just for the autograph), meaning I missed out on pretty much anything else going on and couldn't spend any time with my friends while there. Prioritisation of pre-bought tickets, and/or time slot queues might go a long way to fix this, as they've already noted in some of their "A list" guest queue management.

Great show with lots of things to do and even more guests to see. This year seemed a bit more organised than the last one, I think the extra venue helped. Still, the queueing system still needs some work and I would love to see guests from the comic industry as this is a COMIC CON, as there are so many legends out there that I'm sure lots of people would want to meet. Otherwise maybe it should be renamed to movie or tv con.

There is an issue with the photo ops, as they are extremely rushed to the point a hello is all you can say to the guest and 2 seconds later the experience is over. For these prices I would expect something more substantial than a conveyor belt.

Overall though, it really is an amazing experience with a tonne of activities and a must show for pop culture fans. For comic fans, maybe not so much.

I went to Manchester comic con and wow was amazed at how professional this company are . From the start I was impressed by the way staff spoke to us . I've been to so many comic cons and they seem rushed and staff talk down to the customers. At monopoly events I found staff to be polite and friendly. A good example is I bought signed banners from them . When at Manchester I met Emily swallow, I seen the banner I had paid for in advance. I asked staff if there was any chance I could get Emily to sign it while I was here . They went straight to Emily and next thing I know I was called over and Emily being the lovely lady that she is signed it there in front of me . There was so many other little things they done but that's just one example. I do hope and pray that this company stay the way they are . I for one will try and go to every show .

Overall we had a fab time at Liverpool Comic Con. I will go through our negatives & positives.

Negatives -

Crowds - Too crowded in parts of the venue which was dangerous,- also couldn't comfortably walk round the stalls due to bottle neck areas.

AirCon - definitely required when queuing for busy guests, far too hot and uncomfortable.

Photo Timeslots - No reference made to time slots chosen for photo's therefore that seems pretty pointless and People paying on the day joining the pre-paid queue making it even longer wasn't ideal!

Staff/Volunteers - All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, however there was one lady on ground floor photo studio area who was very rude when I asked where Jared's photo is being held. The way she spoke to me was unacceptable!

Security on entry - Although we accept & appreciate security checking bags, the security guard we had was rummaging in my handbag without respect AND with very dirty hands! - It was a small handbag, you could see what was in it by just opening the top, there was absolutely no need to start moving all the contents around in a rough manner.
Please feedback to the venue and request guards wear surgical gloves and use hand gel before each search and treat people items with respect!

Positives
Cosplay was fabulous!
Plenty to do and see, - the interactive Daleks were a particular highlight
Plenty of seating to have a rest
Panels were good & entertaining
Lots of Merchandise stalls. ( Just couldn't get to some of them!)
Guests were great!
Photographer didn't rush attendee's too much and the photo's are good quality. Speed at which they are developed is superb!

Overall we had a great time and would certainly go again, just hope that some of the feedback is taken on board from everyone.

Fantastic once again I have been coming now twice a year since 2020 and every year MONOPLY take on board some improvisions resulting in some improvements to the next con, like extra seating and the emptying out between panels.
This year was the biggest con yet with the added Mns bank arena.
althought i have to say it felt really busy than usual this time round.
You guys do a fab job and overall i enjoy every minute but i have a few things that i have observed or lisened to from other customers i qued with.
Could we try to improve congestion and queing at the panels Andy please .
This has only become a problem since the emptying of panels between each other.
Maybe go back to if you arrive early you just open it up and let people go in and sit down or do a virtual ticket system even for free panels you have to pre book a seat.
Letting that many people in at 2.50 for example when a apanel starts at 3 causes them to run late and end late resulting in missing photo or auto times,this is not helped by arena staff closing esculaters to the Audertoruim especially for those with walking difficulties.
Lastly there was loads of people who booked on the day that just joined pre booked ques i heard it many times throught the day resulting in people who pre booked having to go to later time slotsand still missing out maybe there should be a 5 oclock time slot for each guest at the end of the day for pay on the day customers only but if a guest is sold out on line then no more should be sold even for pay on the day.

I do live this con but I have to say Saturday did not go good for me I was a vip and add time slot for Craig Charles autograph what I not get to see him as 1st time ther was leting the normal line in before the vip line I when 3 times and still did not get to meet him I payed a lot of money for the vip but it did not help me at all on the Saturday sunday was a lot beter I think staff members need two know more about times slots and vip lines and with other cons I bin two before with the vip you get a free photo opp eatch day what was all was a good thing am hoping the next one can get better as like I say I do like this event but just add a bad day on the Saturday this time around

I loved both Liverpool events I recently attended however there were a few things I did not like. I found most of the staff very patronising and rude, at my first event I was a little overwhelmed not knowing how the photo ops worked etc. and was shouted at several times and told to hurry up etc. I know there is a tight schedule but a few seconds for me to collect my bag in my own time is expected with the price I paid for the photo op itself. It seems the guests are overbooked to allow for profit and people aren't receiving a positive experience. I have anxiety too and this stressed me out a lot during all the photos.

Also, at the last event I attended (my second time) , we decided to book for a panel which started at 6-7pm ish. We did not realise everything else shut at 5pm meaning we could not buy a drink from anywhere. All food/drinks vans had packed up, all the venue cafe's had closed etc. I found myself unable to take important medication as I assumed a busy event would give me an option of drink as it had done all day. We went to leave the venue as we were staying across the road at a hotel but was told if we left and returned, we would be refused re-entry as after 5pm. In the end, I became unwell and a lovely door man actually gave me his own personal unopened bottle of drink. If the panels are later than the event time, an option to leave and return or to buy a drink is a must. The whole event is a very busy time and sometimes it's not until you settle down to wait for a panel you realise you're dehydrated as you've been so busy throughout the day.

We recently attended the May 2024 edition of Liverpool Comic Con and wow, what a day....!! Had an awesome time, so much to see and do - one day just wasn't enough! From props, to replica sets, to the acts on stage and the cosplayers, everything was outstanding. The guest list was nice and varied, something for everyone and full credit to all involved in putting on an incredible event!

I really enjoy monopoly events 2nd time going. Did not experience any que issues.

Few things I would complain about is making sure that all price are correct or double check with your guests that the price your advertising is the price they want. Also had a few guests that we had to scan a qr code to go to there personal shop where they charged you more than was advised on your website.

Also when it comes to panels making sure that we know if we need tickets or not

This was the first time doing comic con Liverpool, I only did one day but thoroughly enjoyed it. In regards to photos/autographs, I think the queuing system needs to be a bit better than it was. I also honestly think, if you are going to do timeslots then there shouldn't be any allowances for pay on the day (unless the guest is pay on day) until later on in the afternoon, and to concentrate more on the ones that have actually booked and paid. As quite a few queues had loads of people trying to pay at the counter section for photos etc.

Amazing experience! For anyone who doesn’t want to stand in queues much, buy a diamond pass. Otherwise expect to spend the day queueing! Guest variety is amazing, brilliant staff and overall a great atmosphere.

This wonderful event has become the best comic con around, and I have been attending con's for 25 years.

Comic Con Liverpool in May 2024 was an absolute triumph in my experience. All the monopoly staff were an absolute delight to talk to and we had such an amazing time. The inclusion of the arena was also a masterstroke, especially with the inclusion of the additional seating. My only gripes are with the arena staff with some coming across as rather stand-off ish and some of the the paying customers being incredibly entitled but alas these are out of the organisers hands. All in all we had an amazing time on Sunday and we can’t wait to return in November

We as a family absolutely love the Monopoly events comic cons, and go to 6-7 a year! We are just recovering from Liverpool after spending the weekend with our diamond passes and little Ripley.

The quality of guests and sheer talent in the organisation of such epic events blows my mind. There are some stand out staff members - Neil Hibbert, Ben Fenlon, Mike Van Driel, Grace and Holly, Amanda Sarah, Dave Harris, and Kiefer. You are all amazing and go above and beyond for everyone, even in the adversity of stressful moments and some rude and disrespectful attendees.

Most issues we have had and have seen others comment on tend to be down to the venue staff/security and nothing to do with monopoly. Some guests are sometimes very busy and the queues long, but again if the guest arrives a bit late this has a knock on effect for the day and there is little Monopoly can do about it. I would personally happily trade a bit longer queuing to get a bit more engagement from the guests. John Cleese this weekend was a prime example and was so sweet and engaging with Rips.

We have been to other comicons run by other companies on occasions, and they don't hold a candle to Monopoly. We feel like we are among family when we come to these events, with some of the best staff, traders and many comic con friends we’ve met over the years and now see regularly at each event. It’s a special community that you have created Andy, thank you!

The venue was large and a lot of seating provided and was amazing.

The queues for photo ops though weren’t great and kept overflowing (however no fault of the staff/volunteers) it was more the running behind schedule which didn’t help, the staff kept consistency and were helpful where possible.

The lanyards on arrival along with a guide for two days was a great idea and I love a lanyard so was great to see they were there upon entrance.

All in all great weekend, just a bit of structuring on queues would be better where possible but all in all amazing con and great people to meet and amazing line up.

Been to two Liverpool Comic Cons so far, the most recent being the May24 one. We had a great time this past weekend! I only had one photo booked, so a lot of our time was spent looking around at stalls and watching stage performances (puppet cinema in particular was great)!
The one photo was with Jared (thank you for bringing him) and the timeslot worked really well for us. Got in no problem and only people with the right slot were allowed in.
There's definitely room for improvement, particularly in managing the areas that get most congested but sounds like this is already be being looked into. Overall we're definitely interested in coming back sometime!
