It's dazzling how terrible Comixology…

It's dazzling how terrible Comixology even all this time after Amazon purchased and destroyed it. It was baffling to begin with why they ruined it once they bought it but the aggressive depth of the destruction is hard to fathom even years later. Trying to use Amazon's own page to navigate the ruins of a Comixology account is bizarre. It's like they actually leaned into the badness of Amazon's usual interface to try to find creative ways to make the digital comics account harder to use. Trying switch from your Wish List to your actual library for example is an obnoxious slog through several clicks of Amazon's ugly and endlessly cluttered account pages.

Most strange of all is their apparent indifference toward making more money by selling digital comics. Where this was intuitive and easy on the pre-Bezos Comixology, the new shattered wreck version of the system makes trying to Wish List or Purchase new comics a hostile unreliable experience.

Anti-consumer update

Anti-consumer updates and lack of in-app purchasing have driven me to breaking point. I invested a lot of money in the app before the changes, I've been a long-time consumer however the update has screwed it. Disappointed

The remake of the Comixology app is so…

The remake of the Comixology app is so catastrophic and obnoxious I don't know where to begin. They destroyed the archive, the interface on the shopping page, the reader itself. They made it impossible to add books from the app to the wish list--what the hell is that? Why would you change that? What is even the point of "view series" if you are not going to allow the next issue to be added to a wish list?

This is he worst site update I’ve ever seen. I won’t repeat all the negative comments and concerns that others have shared as I agree with them all. Have made a significant investment in this site and that has been largely wiped out with this update. Will not invest anymore unless fixed. Will look for other options or simply return to paper…

I have been using Comixology for the last few years and have loved it. I loved the guided view and smart list. Now, if I read it online, I have to use Kindle cloud reader, which is terrible for comics. I hate it so much.

Is this a joke?

I've used Comixology for years, absolutely love everything about it. The layout of the website, how easy it was to navigate and find exactly what I was looking for. The app on iOS was glorious, fast, with amazing features such as Smart Lists, etc.

I've amassed something like 5000 comics (individual issues and volumes), sure digital doesn't come close to a real book, but I'm not about to carry expensive real books onto a long haul flight to read.

The only "ism" I had with it was that downloading comics took an age.

When I learnt that full integration with the Amazon Ecosystem was imminent, I didn't really think much about it. I'm an Amazon dude - Prime, Alexa, grocery shopping, etc., etc.

So I dutifully downloaded the latest app (version 4.0) and when I launched it, that's when I realised I made an awful mistake...

First off, ALL of the comics that I downloaded onto my iPad, some 140GB, were wiped off my device. My lists were gone. My progress on multiple books was gone. My archives were gone.

After the initial shock and disbelief that they would update an app to do this, I set about trying to redownload my books. Note the word "trying". Multiple books refuse to download. They don't even begin to. What looks like a progress bar appears, but it doesn't, you know, progress.

Absolutely maddening!

So I delved into a book. I had to wipe my glasses and rub my eyes, as, if I'm not mistaken, these books seem of poorer quality in terms of sharpness and colour render. Looking on YouTube, it appears that other users have noticed this.

The app is, well, it's broken.

The Comixology, sorry, Amazon website is an absolutely mess. Gone is the nice, sensible Comixology UI, in is an complete mess that buries independents, and makes searching for books difficult.

If I search for a particular Batman issue, for example, I may or may not get that issue or similar, but also appearing are Batman toys, mugs, costumes, etc.

The Comixology integration is a joke. What was once my favourite app, in fact, my main reason for buying a high end iPad Pro is now a shadow of it's former self.

It's a sad end to the Comixology story...

This app doesn't serve the customers anymore

This app is taking a huge step backwards. It used to be one stop shopping with advertising and your library all in one spot, well now I have to use three different websites just to get to my library and my wishlist.

It took me an hour to find out I have to go to Kindle to actually read my books because there's no prominent instructions the point in the right direction; however now, two pages of a comic book on a PC screen are the side of a pamphlet.

This is very frustrating to use. There's a joy to reading comic books and this convoluted three website set up is robbing the experience of that Joy.

I'm being serious when I say just to regress back to the old system; that will make everything ideal again.

After buying 6,300 comics over the past…

After buying 6,300 comics over the past 13 years, Amazon has pulled the plug on ComiXology and I have lost a lot of useful features and important information from my comics – including the ability to download and back up my DRM-free comics from Image, Valiant, etc. To make things even worse, since I use a Mac and live in France, I cannot access the store and purchase comics anymore.
I feel like someone broke into my house and ruined my comics collection overnight - without any warning or advance notice.
This is the worst experience I ever had from any online reseller, and I can’t even begin to explain how furious and distressed I feel about this.

Comixology Scam

Are you insane???
Overnight I lost all my wishlist (totally deleted), I can't see many of my comics, the comics I see are all messed up, it's no more possible to order them by series, the reading experience is horrible, but most of all I CAN'T BUY ANY OTHER COMICS. I have been switched to the Italian amazon marketplace without asking me if I wanted to remain on the US one (HELL YEAH). Plus, the final joke: the local Amazon marketplace connection IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK.
WORST IT EXPERIENCE EVER.
This is a fraud.

Amazon completely destroyed this app with the last update. They ruined the interface, ruined the website shopping and wish list system, got rid of all the old organizing systems, and did not even keep track of which comics were in progress at the time of the update.

Non existent customer support

Have been a Comixology customer for around 8 years now. The apps work well, the range is amazing, the deals and offers they provide are pretty good. Unfortunately, I tried to gift a comic to a friend. Big mistake. My friend never received it, after confirming all the details I tried customer support. It's not that it's bad, it's just...non existent. Since my account was merged with my Amazon account, I tried creating a ticket through Amazon, Amazon says they've forwarded it on, no response. 1 month later, no response, contact Comixology directly, 1 month on, still no response. So now I'm left with the not so pleasant option of trying to get my money back through my bank. I'll be looking elsewhere for my future comic purchases. I'd recommend you do as well.

false advertisment

false advertisment. they lure you with free comic books. only when you linked your amazon account with them and downloaded your app you are greet with a message you have to pay to use the app. Free suppose to mean it's free and not 6£ a month. because you have to accept t&c they can now sell your data to other companies. not cool.

Got seriously scammed by Comixology

Got seriously scammed by Comixology. I started an account and tried it out, but realized that "unlimited" was not at all unlimited, but rather extremely limited. For the monthly fee in the "unlimited" account, I could only access about 1/2-2/3 the content on the site. Chocking it up to free-market BS freedom, I decided to try what I could do with it, but the reader is horrible. It won't rotate on a phone screen, and it offers only a couple of customization options to make it readable, so basically, it isn't worth looking at on a phone or a tablet. I canceled my account, and now more than a year later, they've started billing me again. I didn't realize until a few months in that I'd been paying their monthly fee again, somehow, despite the fact that I'd canceled it. I sent an email, after searching extensively for help options, and got a "Oh, sorry, we'll cancel it next month," response. No offer of refund for the months I'd paid but didn't use the service. Complete con.

Great sales, connects to Amazon and Marvel.com

I love how my Amazon collection as well as my digital Marvel collection is updated here as well so that I have a go to solution for reading my digital comics.

I regularly frequent their sales which always happen as a movie or show is coming out (which helps when I need to catch up). Also they have regular sales during the week (Marvel Mondays, etc.) that get me inspired to check out new titles as well.

I still wish they had a podcast or some thing that would highlight new and indie comics a bit more though in their newsletter.
