CANNOT REGISTER VEHICLE
I bought a car in California and moved to Washington, and received a call that I need a smog test to register vehicle in California.Washington state doesn't do California smog checks.I reached out to dealership and they hung phone up on me.The research was not conducted prior selling the vehicle.I called Consumer Portfolio they have an AI operater I'm very frustrated.
They are the rudest and most…
They are the rudest and most unprofessional people I have ever encountered. I sold my car and and told them that the company I sold it to would be paying it off. I still got like 5 emails from 5 different people harassing me about my payment. Obviously the communication is an issue there. I WOUD NOT recommend ever dealing with them. This is the first company I blocked on my phone cause I would have said some choice words. I would not go with them at all no matter what!
Horrible service BUYERS BEWARE RUNNNNNN
Horrible service BUYERS BEWARE RUNNNNNN
Okay so I bought this car last year August 2024. The reason why I bought this car is because I was in an accident in May 2024 and my current car was total so of course you need to get a new vehicle to get around so I was looking for a car. I went to the best dealership they had and they were highly speaking of consumer portfolio. Let me tell you if I can give you this company a zero star. I definitely 100% would the customer service is horrible the customer service managers are horrible besides one manager, which was helpful. The other reps were unhelpful no in documents when you call when you call in there oh, I don’t know what you’re talking about especially when it goes to important facts about your account when I bought this car two months and I was having issues so I had to return my car to get it fixed. Let me tell you spending 3000+ and then having to pay for a rental is not fun when you just bought a brand new car I think it’s very ridiculous. When I spoke to the manager she understood my situation and helped me with the extension which I appreciate, and I did explain hey like I’m still paying for a car repair and I was paying for a car rental because I did not have a vehicle because my current new vehicle that was less than a year old is getting fixed dealership didn’t want to hear it cause I wasn’t their problem consume his portfolios. Didn’t want to hear it because they gave me money doesn’t matter. I’m like look I’m paying for a rental. I don’t have a car. I’m also paying for the car repair for car that’s not even a year a year old. I was like you guys have to work with me on something. I’m still paying for this car repair. My car repair was $6000. Not even gonna lie piss off no help whatsoever. I told him I’m like I have to pay for this car repair. I’m gonna be behind the payments when I called in. I was like nothing was documented. Nothing was written down every time I call him to consumer portfolio. They act like they have no idea what you’re talking about because a customer reps do not notate your files. They are also extremely rude. They call you 15 times throughout the day even when you’re like I’m at work you need to call me after a certain time. even when you say or speak to something it’s not documented I can’t tell you the endless times that my account was not documented properly by customers on representatives and managers that I have email proof for do yourself a favor stay away from this company, they do not want to help you even if you tell them hey I’m still paying for something. They do not freaking care whatsoever. I get it they have a job to do. It’s a difference between calling somebody 15 times a day and I do have proof I can screenshot it besides a couple times a day and if you don’t give them an answer, they threaten you, which is also unacceptable with the call today, got a call at 8 AM eight hours later talking about they can’t take that payment. Oh well you should’ve told me that at 8 o’clock that’s your problem. That’s not my problem. Sounds like you don’t know how to do your job. The rep was also was very rude. Even when I spoke to the manager, she was very nasty if that’s how you handle a customers that’s poor piss poor Service I could tell you that firsthand customer should be treating nicer than here and this company ain’t it. BUYER BEWARE HORRIBLE COMPANY RUN DONT WALK RUNN.
This company is horrible
This company is horrible. I tried too get a third car extension. They refused. Told me too set up a payment plan. I told them I only get my social security check once a month. Need year will get rid of them refinance elsewhere. Stay away. They also high interest rate
Scammers
I bought a 2018 Hyundai Elantra and the lending company was consumer portfolio I'd never heard of them but I didn't know they were a debt collection agency. Let's just say since I've gotten this car it has been non-stop harassment over the littlest things literally if I am a dollar off they start calling on a daily basis and I mean I was only a dollar off and nothing but harassment. They charge extremely high interest rates and you can't do anything about that I literally pay $425 a month for my car and only $25 of that goes towards my principal because the rest goes in interest I've had my car for over 2 years and I've only knocked down three grand and I'm only supposed to have the car for five. These people are very nasty and rude to you they do not care in any way about anything other than their paycheck and none of them none of them are even English speaking people you have to fight to understand them and now I'm just trying to get out of this car because I will not do this anymore with them.
In March 2025 I purchased a new 2025…
In March 2025 I purchased a new 2025 Kia Sorento hybrid and that was it. I put $30,000 down on the car and financed the $15,000 balance. I've never even heard of these yoyo's till I get a letter from them in the mail stating they were denying me credit on May 22, 2025. Over two months after I purchased the car. Their denial letter to me states that my credit score is 857 which is about right since I've always had outstanding credit. Matter of fact, I own my house and have zero bills up till time I purchased my new car. Fast forward, today is June 9th, 2025. I paid my 2.5 month old car loan last week.
My gripe with these sorry asses is that I have called them six different times in the last two weeks to inquire why they denied me credit with a credit score of 857. I'm really ticked because all six calls I placed with them I left my name and phone number requesting that they please call me back since a human being never answers the phone.
Of course, no one from Consumer Portfolio Services, Inc. has ever called me back. They can send me a negative letter but are NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
I'd give them a big, fat sloppy letter grade of F or a 0 out of 10.
Dissatisfied Customer
I recently bought a car on the Westside of the city I live in. While at the dealership I put a decent amount down on the car. I finally received the payment coupon from CPS. It had the base amount that I owed. I started an online account. I clicked on the payoff amount. With the payoff amount they would stand to make over $100.00 profit. I went to my credit union and bought a cashiers check for said amount. That was the Thursday May 30,2024. I sent it buy first class USPS mail. I wanted to pay off this car loan because their interest is through the ceiling. I called a week later and they said they still did not received my payment. When I talked to one of their representative they said it would take two to three weeks for it to clear my account. that was close to two weeks. My due date is the 20th of the month. on June 15th I received a payment reminder tex. I talked to an agent two days later. I told them I sent a cashiers check through the mail. He said I could go to three places where I live or pay online. He said it is a risk sending it through the mail. He told me how to go about the issue with my cashiers check. My payment was due in three days. I paid online they charged me a $1.00 fee. The first agent said it would have taken two to three weeks to receive my check. I live in Ohio, they are based in California. I checked on the internet. They should have gotten my payment no longer than six business days. By right my loan should have been paid off. If I had not made another payment by my due date I would have lost my car. I have to wait ninety days before my funds can be returned to my account. I still have to make three monthly payments by then. I have sent cashiers checks in the past by the USPS, I always keep my receipts. When I paid my monthly balance more went towards the interest than the principal. I believe they could be holding my check and not allowing it to clear so they can make more money in interest. The loan I took is over a six year period. The amount that I would pay over that time would almost double the original amount. I prefer to deal with a bank than a finance company. A bank may have been in my home state and I could have taken the cashiers check to them in person and paid off my car loan. I do not trust finance companies they do not have as much integrity maybe a bank would.
CPS is a SCAM BUYER BEWARE!!
Well firstly their ratings apparently are only 1.2/5 stars. Sad when u look at it. Customer service is absolutely atrocious. I had to get a deferment due to mechanical issues on the car I have financed with them. It apparently messed up their ability to read completely. Then due to other mechanical malfunctions in August I had to have my due date changed. Now According to them and their elite team of incompetence when trying to get another deferment due to more issues I haven't made 5 months of payments. Well clowns given that I've had this car for going on 15 months now....YOURE WRONG. Furthermore I recently found out that of the 15months of payments aka since September of last year...they have only reported 1 to the credit bureaus and that was the payment I made this October 2023. They can email and call and have automated texts go out daily but yet when I call numerous times they refuse to answer. It's like they are purposely setting me up for failure. For instance Yoselin Gamez emailed offering help and a solution. Yet when we call and attempt to get transferred to her she refuses to accept the transfer. Also let's discuss the scammy sounding names as well. Yoselin Gamez,Pearl Smith,Chaka Jones and various others. Apparently I'm not the only person they have screwed over on the credit reporting. Also apparently the wait to get a title is going to be at least 5 months according to various other people's experiences. They only got 1 star because they don't offer anything on the negative side of the scale.
Well I just talked to them again and…
Well I just talked to them again and today and asked them why they are saying my car won't be paid for in January like they told me a few months ago. Now they are trying to charge me 3 times the amount due. Now they are telling me once again that interest has accrued on the balance for 2months that are not even here. Could someone please send me an attorneys name. Plus the rep from my state never called me back. I left a voicemail. Something has to give. I have been paying for this car a long time, too long. My credit was not that messed up enough for me to have to pay this outrageous amount of time for a used vehicle! I have had enough and just want to get this over as I was trying to do. Please do not use this company, not even to buy a go cart!
This company needs to be shut down
This company needs to be shut down. They buy automobile contracts from dealers that are crooks and that take advantage of people that are just trying to repair their credit but wind up paying more than double for a used vehicle. They say they use simple interest, which in layman's terms mean that they are charging interest comparable to a payday loan. I purchased a vehicle in Nov. 2018 from a dealer that advertised "Buy Here Pay Here". CPS bought the contract from them and they made extra money. I didn't even have the car 30 days and the engine went out and when the replacement engine went out I wound up spending $3500.00 for another engine. I notified CPS of this because I had to defer 2 payments because of the car being inoperable from November until late January and now CPS has been charging interest on those payments and collecting over a thousand dollars in test from me when the car should be almost paid for in January. I will never refer anyone to this company I most certainly will not deal with them again, ever! I hope any and everyone that reads this will spread the word. Do not deal with CPS
