Contact Solar Reviews 

We have been badly let down by Contact Solar. We accepted their proposal back in December 2025 and were visited by a surveyor in late January. The surveyor surveyed the wrong aspect of our roof, causing confusion, as he was suggesting 14 panels, which we were pretty sure would not fit on our south facing roof. Once this was sorted, we still had to wait for permission from the developers of our newbuild estate and for someone to come to board our attic, as the batteries were to be sited in the loft space and this was a prerequisite.

Scaffolding went up on 1st April and on 7th we were looking forward to having the installation completed. Unfortunately, the team had only been here for 30 minutes or so, before there was a knock on the door and we were told that they were unable to go ahead, because the roof tiles were not compatible with their fixings. The team suggested that if we were happy to have an in roof system on a tray, one of the other Contact Solar teams could do this, but, when the company ‘phoned, they told us that this was not the case and that we would have to have the tiles stripped off the roof by a private contractor before they would be willing to go ahead with the installation. We were unwilling to do this, as we were afraid of losing our NHBC warranty.

We complained to the company on 13th April, but did not get a response until 16th April, after I contacted them again, by email this time, on 14th. We were asked what we would like to happen and our response was that we would like them to go ahead with the in roof system, but with them removing and replacing the tiles. It took until 29th April to finally get a response to this – a negative, unless we had the tiles removed ourselves. We were offered a £200 goodwill payment towards the cost of having the loft boarded, but since this cost us £1695 it was hardly worth accepting. We were told that the tiling had not been noticed, because the surveyor was at ground level, but we have a one storey garage, so the tiles are clearly visible.

Two other solar companies have already completed installations on rooves similar to ours, so we know that it is doable, but Contact Solar have decided it is not for them. We have lost out, not only on the cost of the attic flooring, but on a month at least of solar power and hence lower bills because of their incompetence.
Since originally writing this review, Contact Solar have compensated us for the attic boarding that we commissioned in order for the installation to go ahead. They have also added a 'goodwill' payment.

Had a great experience with them. Really good communication from the start without being pushy at all.

From initially filling in the contact form to panels being installed was just over 2 months.

Everything happened when they said it would and we had no problems at all. We were already with EDF anyway so I’m not sure if it’s more hassle if your with a different energy company (EDF own Contact Solar).

No hard sell, kept informed throughout the process. Solar panels fitted at agreed time.

Whenever you undertake any project, you hope that everything goes well. I have to say that other companies should take a leaf from Contact Solar’s book, as they were superb from start to finish. The communication was first class all the way, even after installation, Jo from the handover team rang to see if we were pleased with everything. We would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking about getting Solar panels. All that’s left to do is reap the rewards from our investment.

Recently had a change to my home WiFi, first time I have had to call customer service, prompt polite & very efficient response & resolution to my problem.

Professional instillation very thorough

There were a couple of delays around getting the scaffolding set up and taken down but the communication around this and everything else was handled well. The installation itself was smooth and efficient and the installers copied admirably with our very brittle roof tiles.

I’ve been using my new solar panels and battery system from Contact Solar for a few weeks now, and the experience has been extremely positive. The system performs brilliantly — in fact, it’s exceeding my expectations in terms of output and efficiency.
The whole process with Contact Solar has been smooth from start to finish. The design and sales stage was clear and informative, the installation was carried out professionally, and the post installation support has been excellent.
The staff deserve a special mention too — everyone I dealt with was friendly, helpful, and genuinely committed to delivering a good customer experience.
Overall, I’m very happy with the system and with Contact Solar, and I’d happily recommend them to others.

I had solar panels installed by Contact Solar some 4 years ago. I'm delighted I did. Very professional. Immediate savings and with the solar battery, a great saving on electricity. A couple of months ago, I had a problem with the system. The battery wasn't working, the panels likewise. I contacted Contact Solar and they tried their best to sort the problem remotely. No could do, so a technician was sent out and he solved the problem within 15 minutes after thoroughly checking everything out. The solar battery had failed. Having a solar battery with him, he replaced my dead battery and at once, everything was up and running. Happy days. Thank you Contact Solar. Service with a smile.

Sunsync helpline engineers tried a couple of times the rectify a problem on my dashboard, with two different engineers giving me two different remedies. Everything they suggested failed, so in desperation I contact my installer - Contact Solar - and the problem was identified immediately. Simple fix by me and job done. Excellent work,as usual. I like the end result but getting there took 4 months to resolve any problems I had to contact you to find out how to solve it

Excellent customer service from initial contact to completion of the job. The Contact Solar system is exceeding expectations delivering great energy cost savings. The App is great too as it provides real time graphical energy flow data between the solar panels, the inverter, the batteries, the grid and my home. Post installation follow-up service has been excellent too, providing interactive tuition on how to make best use of the App and liaising with my energy provider to set up export to grid sale of electricity. I am really pleased with the system.
