Cookie Control is a consent management platform (CMP) built and supported by CIVIC, a software company based in Edinburgh. It gives any organisation with a website a straightforward way to ask visitors for consent to cookies and tracking, honour the answer they give, and keep a record of it. The platform handles the parts of cookie compliance that are easiest to get wrong. A built-in scanner reads your site and finds the cookies, scripts and third-party tags actually running on it, then suggests how each one should be categorised. Third-party trackers are blocked until a visitor consents. The consent banner and preference centre are configured through a graphical interface rather than a JavaScript file, and changes publish without a developer having to redeploy your site. Consent records are logged, reportable and exportable, so you can show what was asked and what was answered. Cookie Control is Google-certified and registered with IAB Europe's Transparency and Consent Framework. Banners are built to WCAG 2.2 AA, work in over 30 languages, and can vary by visitor location, so a UK visitor, an EU visitor and a Californian visitor each see the rules that apply to them. The platform supports EU GDPR, UK GDPR and PECR as updated by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, along with CCPA/CPRA and LGPD. Pricing is a flat annual price per domain. There is no metering of pageviews, sessions or sub-domains, so a busy month does not move you to a higher tier or generate an overage charge.
