Never had a problem - it works well
Used this for years and Never had a problem with it - I don't understand the negative reviews. It works well, allows me to find stuff easily using keywords and it's saved my life a few times. You have to set up indexing properly to be sure you have everything covered but that's true for any software doing the same job. It may miss stuff but, again, there's no such thing as a perfect app.
Copernic is not specific enough
Copernic is not specific enough. For instance if you searched for nobbyATexample.com it would show anything with nobby, example or com.
AT represents the at sign but I cannot do that on here.
X1 does a much better job of isolating just what is required
Good programme, shame about support
As a programme I love Copernic. For the last 20 years it has helped solve numerous conumdrums. Unfortunately though, the standard of support advice is fairly woeful.
Failed to make work-wasted a lot of time
Tried a number of years ago and could not get it to work properly. Stupidly I thought that it may have improved and purchased 2 licences but sadly after waiting days/weeks for the indexing to finish and trying what customer support suggested it failed miserably in both my PCs where strangely, despite almost identical setups, the indexing stopped at vastly different file numbers. It took so long that I ran out of the guarantee period and they will not refund for what for me is a useless program. It also will only index 1 OneDrive account. So the only reason to buy Copernic is if you want to give your money to a company that will not refund after 30 days and are happy to waste many, many hours trying to get it to work and probably failing. Maybe if your data sets are very small it could work but it is not really fit for purpose. BTW I tried X1 Search instead and everything is working flawlessly in 1 day.
Worst support ever.
I used Copernic years ago at school and loved it. Now at work, I want to have it again.
Trouble, trouble, trouble.
I bought the thing outright before even using the trial period because I know what it can do.
I've had to write support 7 times now and I'm not one bit closer to using the darn thing.
1. At first emails were in French and English, but after a couple everything was in French-only. And despite telling support that I only understand English, they continue to send emails in French.
2. *I've already bought the thing.* I've been told to either go to the sign-in page (I haven't been given the opportunity to set a password), go to "new user" (I already bought it!) or to import the license file, which I haven't received.
EDIT: Support emailed me the key. Everything works as it should. Finally.

I have been using the program for many years. I am very satisfied and I use the software every day to search for emails or documents. I recently ordered an additional tool, but then I no longer needed it. Contacting support and getting the refund was quick and easy. I also recommend Copernic to my corporate customers because it saves a lot of time and work. Top!
Copernic Desktop Search - excellent support
Been using Copernic Desktop Search for years in home office (Windows PCs, network attached servers). Indexes everything including file metadata, not just filenames. Couldn't do without it. Need for Support very occasional. Just contacted Support and got extensive answer within 40 minutes. Needed minor clarification, second clear answer from Copernic within 20 minutes. Service couldn't be better. I can't understand the negative reviews here. They are totally at odds with my experience.
keeps crashing or freezing
keeps crashing or freezing. have had to reinstall it several times. lousy support service. at least 5 support tickets over the same problem. in the end I got fed up and wanted my money back-thier response was that I had exceeded the 30 days-most of which was spent waiting for their responses and trying their fixes-which didn't work.
Useless as a duplicates files detector
Listed as a duplicates files detector, after days of indexation, the interface doesn't allow you to visualize the list of files to remove. On the forum I was the 4th person to ask how to do it but no answer after a year! Serious!?!?
The product works well on the whole. Support is dreadful.
The product works well on the whole. Their technical support is horrible. They do reply fast, but I have just had an experience with Luc who totally misread the detailed screenshots I sent, never apologized and then had no answer why it took the app 9 days to index an Excel file.
Customer service very bad
Customer service very bad. They automatically renewed my subscription fee even I was not using the software. I contacted them for a refund immediately and it has been over 6 months now they have not refunded with money after over 1/2 done interactions via emails and means
Non-existent support, license deactivated, product useless
My license deactivated after changing my machine name. Support doesn't respond to queries for over 2 weeks. They are completely useless. Do not buy this product. I've had to shift to X1.
Same disappointing experience
Same disappointing experience. Copernic used to be
SO GOOD but now it is virtually useless. It crashes continuously and I am now forced to find some other solution. Any ideas?
STAY AWAY!!!!
over the last ~2 months I have had endless issues: crashes, lost the index. stooped working, ...
each time I had to contact customer support. they reply with answers that typically just waste more time. at this point i have effectively become a part of their QA team...
After having several frustrating experiences in the last month and realizing that I spend more time debugging the product with them than working with it I eventually asked for my money back.
The answer was 'no' because it's over 30 days from the purchase. The fact that the product most of the time doesn't work didn't change much for these guys. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOUSY PRODUCT AND COMPANY!
Slow, crashes OFTEN
I've been using Copernic Desktop Search since it was first launched, which must be 20 years ago. Up to version 6 it was great, so fast and reliable. Version 6 got a bit wobbly. A year ago I upgraded to version 7. Long story short, I had to revert to 6 because 7 was so buggy.
So now a year later I think they must have fixed serious bugs, so installed the 7 trial. Trial license file didn't activate the extension (said it was expired). When I inquired, they asked ME if THEIR license file was valid. I'm a customer... how the heck would I know? So they sent another file and that registered the extensions.
Now, 24 hours later, it has failed to start with Windows every time, even though the "start with Windows" box is checked. It takes a minute of twirling to produce any search result at all, and then often just shows the number of matching documents in the "type" header tabs with the results window empty. You have to run the query a second time to actually SEE the results.
It crashes constantly, not only while twirling a search, but also while just indexing. It will disappear off screen, out of the system tray, and off the Windows Task list. Just like it did a year ago. It doesn't seem like the Copernic people care at all.
Uninstalled. I'm off to find a "real" indexer. I suggest you save yourself the trouble and skip Copernic. It's no wonder they don't ask customers to complete a Trustpilot review.
The old (free)version really worked…
The old (free)version really worked well once customized. The 30 day trial for the new version gives one very little, and drip feeds based on payment. It is really poor. One doesn't know how much one is going to pay at the end, because every feature seeks to draw as much money out as possible.
ICopernic customer service is non-existant.
I have been using Copernic for years. In the early days the program itself was unsatisfactory, but THE LATEST EDITION actually works well even with external raid drives that contain my back ups. But I had to write Copernic several times to finally get the download.
But though I have a PayPal paid order # 90319035 (Febr. 2019) and working Copernic program they keep sending me reminders that my program has expired and NO amount of writing them gets any answer.. .
I purchased Copernic 6 and also just…
I purchased Copernic 6 and also just can't get the program to search my emails. It's hit and miss on my files. I even contacted Copernic for assistance assuming I was doing something wrong. Prior Copernic products were excellent. Terry

Fail
bought it, keep on returning poor search results. Cannot get it to work with latest Outlook files and eventually gave up on using it. Very disappointing experience.
