I would not use again

Used Counting King for an R&D tax claim for my last years accounts. Intially the claim went though recieved a rebate for HMRC. We paid Counting King their fee.

A few later HMRC said there was a error with claim and the money need to be repaid. County King review the application and said there was no defence and that we need to repay sum. I was advised that their fee would have been repaid. 4 month later I have been told fee will not be repaid.

I will not use them for this or any service in the future.

I recently held a position as an R&D Tax Analyst, and I must say, the experience was profoundly disappointing. Here are the main issues I encountered:

Lack of Training and Support: From day one, it was evident that there was little to no structured training in place. Despite being a specialized role, the onboarding process was haphazard and insufficient. I was often left to figure things out on my own with minimal guidance from senior staff.

Unrealistic Expectations: The workload was overwhelming, with expectations to handle complex tax issues and client consultations without adequate preparation. The management seemed out of touch with the actual demands of the job, setting unattainable targets and deadlines.

Poor Management: The management team was neither supportive nor approachable. Feedback was rare, and when provided, it was often negative and unconstructive. There was a clear lack of leadership and vision, leading to a chaotic work environment.

Inadequate Compensation: For the level of expertise and amount of work required, the compensation was far below industry standards. There were no incentives or bonuses, which further demotivated the staff.

Limited Career Growth: Despite promises of career development opportunities, there was little room for advancement. The role quickly became stagnant, with no clear path for progression or professional growth.

Toxic Work Environment: The overall atmosphere in the office was toxic. There was a constant air of stress and dissatisfaction among employees. Teamwork was virtually non-existent, with colleagues often pitted against each other rather than encouraged to collaborate.

Inconsistent Work-Life Balance: The demands of the job frequently encroached on personal time. Late nights and weekend work became the norm, with little regard for employees' well-being.

Overall, my experience as an R&D Tax Analyst was overwhelmingly negative. I would not recommend this role to anyone seeking a supportive, fair, and growth-oriented career.

We were dealing with another R&D company when a client suggested I contact a guy called Rick at Counting King.

To be honest we didn’t fully understand what was happening & found everything very complicated. He explained everything in simple terms & was very reassuring, so we went with him and just received confirmation our HMRC claim was successful & payment is imminent! Counting King is now looking into a Capital Allowance claim for me as well.

We were approached by Counting king asking if we had claimed any R&D tax Credit , we said no don't really do that. Having had a chat with zain we determined that we could claim. 5 weeks later we had a nice rebate from HMRC and looking forward to another one soon for another project, we would recommend Counting King based on our experience
